Great set up video. I know how it is to set up a show in the rain by yourself. Takes allot of planning and organization. Glad you were able to get a break from the rain to have a successful show.
I give you a lot of credit doing 90% of all the work I give you a lot of credit, this is a lot of work to do and can't wait to see clean up video, keep up the great work pyro 👊🍻
After watching the show man there’s something that I have to say. (Type) I’m a musician, I play electric guitar and as a musician it’s fun to get creative and and put passion into a performance. It’s same when creating music. In making music and creating a Pyro performance there comes a point of making parts that are dynamic. Soft parts, louder parts, slower parts that ect. Pyro musicals are perfect because both fireworks and music have plenty of dynamics when intentionally put into the part of the creation. They go so well together. That being said when some musicians want to make music they make 10 minute long “masterpieces”. Sometimes there not masterpieces lol. Sometimes they are boring and drug out and it doesn’t catch the ear. With fireworks it’s different, it can go for about 20 minutes before people might start feeling bored. It happens. You know that. With this particular performance it was a sweet 8 minutes long. For me I think it’s awesome. Wether it was on purpose or not, the time for this show was as perfect. My point is most songs that you can sing or hum right at this very second we’re songs that were created as a short and sweet 3-4 minute thing. This performance that you put on was short and sweet and I actually remember parts from it when I watched it yesterday. When something gets in your head it sticks. The best songs that were created were not 30 minutes long. Good job sir. In my opinion it’s your best performance yet. I’m hope this makes sense lol
That all makes perfect sense, and I really appreciate it! In my opinion, the sweet spot for a firework show is 12-15 minutes. Beyond that, you start to lose your audience. I prefer to do a kickass sub-10-minute show than a mediocre 15-minute show. Most of the duration was only because of my time and system available for firing, however. I'm hoping to hit that 10-minute mark next year lol. Thanks for the feedback and I could not agree with you more!
Thanks! This is all a hobby for me and has just grown year after year. My best advice is to get involved with some local pyro clubs near you. That will get your foot in the door to meet some amazing people with a wealth of knowledge!
@@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics wow, that's amazing. I'll have to look into the local club idea. I'd be curious to see if there is any in IL. People around here are bit more of the "fireworks are lame and annoying" type.
I know how hard set-up is with my buddy, but to do it solo? Whew! Do you not care about the product getting wet when it rains? I'd be scrambling for tarps but it seemed like you weren't concerned in the least.
Oh, I was concerned. By the time I showed the rain, I had tarped the other positions and the one I was at was the only one that hadn't been tarped, hence the pop-up tent. I lost a go-getter cake to the rain, unfortunately, or more the un-tarping process
I think you should invest in a side by side or a golf cart so you can easily just drive shit around to the different positions. I would LOVE to have a golf cart at my shoot site BUT - its a bit tight.
Bonjour Joel, amour du Canada ! Comment faites-vous des feux d'artifice toute l'année ? n'avez-vous pas une certaine loi où il est illégal de les faire après la 5ème cause la voici. 💙
The rain can definitely affect the fireworks. I tarped all the positions other than the one with the pop-up tent. I lowered it to the lowest height for that position and moved the cakes inward.
I covered all the cakes with tarps. That's why there was that 5-gallon bucket at 4:10, and you can barely see a tarp at the next position over at 4:12. I was one tarp short, so the pop-up tent was the last position.
@@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics man, first your location goes into a drought and now it’s a chance of rain everyday! Kinda the same here in PA. We had a good rainstorm in the afternoon on the 4th which was good. Had most of my prep done just needed to fuse the finale which was excellent. Looking into getting Ignite next year or for New Years! Excellent show Joel! Always enjoy your videos! You and Coby B are the best!
Lot of hard work...Great Show...10/10
Thank you! It all pays off in the end
Great set up video. I know how it is to set up a show in the rain by yourself. Takes allot of planning and organization. Glad you were able to get a break from the rain to have a successful show.
Thanks man! We made the best of the situation and glad the rain only hung around for two hours, then hit me again during cleanup lol
Great set up video I can appreciate setting up by yourself it’s not easy. I had another guy helping me this year and it took all day long.
Omg! tell me about it. I set up by myself, started at around noon and didn't finish set up until 8:30. I guess you can say it's a labor of love. lol
Why do we all do this to ourselves! Lol, sorry to hear we all had little help this year
Putting in the work and it was a great show
Thanks brother! All about putting in that work
Nice setup and adding the howling cakes were pretty sweet
Thanks man! Yeah, I think it was a needed touch!
I had the same hammer cakes in my finale this year too! Very impressive cakes!
Nice! Loved those things
Man I can not believe you did all that by yourself that is a lot of work man
It all came together in the end!
@@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnicsI would have been dead by position 3

Thanks brother! I'd prefer it not to be that way, but with the postponement, some of my planned help couldn't make it.
@@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics NP and I understand
woohoo thanks for this you’re the best been watching for years 🫡
I'm happy to hear that! Cheers!
Such a great site! Man lots of work doing it all solo... But I know how it goes I am the only one setting mine up too lol the things we do for love!
Next year, there is going to be a volunteer sign up sheet lol

Amazing Joel! 😮your organization makes me sick! 😅 but it obviously pays off! 😉
Thanks man! I don't think my organization is all too impressive either lol

Hey Joel, what is your preferred module to use? I'm with you; I can't stand the rat's nest!

If storage wasn't an issue for a side-by-side, I totally would lol. Hell, if I just had two people as runners, that would solve that problem anyway

Hello! Yes and no here. Depends on the state you are in and if you have any additional permits to shoot year-round.
Wheel of fortune!? Where can I find that
I picked those up at Spirit of 76 fireworks
Does the rain not effect the fireworks or does it need to he a good amount of water to damage them?
The rain can definitely affect the fireworks. I tarped all the positions other than the one with the pop-up tent. I lowered it to the lowest height for that position and moved the cakes inward.
How many positions do you have and how far apart are they?
Seven positions spaced 50' apart so 300' total.
How far is the shooting site from the crowd ?
I set up the audio system at 300' away. So anywhere from 300-350'
What are you using to set off your fireworks
Borrowed a cobra system. I prefer using FireTek to be honest, but I don't have enough cues available with my FireTek to put on this scale of show.
Too bad you couldn't use the telephone pole as a "Malta" tower... :)
Oh trust me, that thought has crossed my mind more than once. The ironic part is, it's off center and it drives my OCD crazy lol
Didn’t the rain ruin the exposed cakes?
I covered all the cakes with tarps. That's why there was that 5-gallon bucket at 4:10, and you can barely see a tarp at the next position over at 4:12. I was one tarp short, so the pop-up tent was the last position.
