- This is the longest and most complex stop motion I have made. It took about 6 months to complete. I was inspired by the story of Australian general Sir John Monash, who revolutionised battle strategy, in his plan to recapture the village of Hamel from the Germans. in the end the Australian and US troops took the town of Hamel
I began researching the battle, then writing a script and storyboarding the whole sequence.
I used SMSP on an iPhone 8, i used 12 frames per sec.
This is a link to the Behind the Scenes movie, explaining how I made The Battle of Hamel:

Well done Orrin - this is excellent work. You've done a fantastic job at capturing one of the most important moments in Australian military history, and we hope you make more in the future.
thanks 🙏👍😁
What an epic, Orrin! You choose a very dramatic episode in military history and told the story so well. I was so moved - had tears in my eyes by the end. Your attention to detail is amazing, for instance sound effects of feet on gravel, or on wooden floorboards. My favourite image is of the airplanes and have no idea how you did that. What ever effort and thought this took is certainly worth it. Sterling achievement!
thank you 🙏😊
This war is sooo sad but is cool
