I was the sister that took my younger sister driving. The difference is I did it because my parents yelled too much when teaching us. Now I can’t believe how many years has passed since then
I have two daughters. One mild mannered and the other, well let's just say she's mercurial. When I taught the older one to drive, after our "final" lesson I let her drive home, too. She hit our house. You can guess how I expected things to go with number two six years later. Turns out, she's a natural. I only had to give her some basic tips and she was driving like a pro. To this day she is the only person I trust enough to sleep in the back seat while she drives. With anyone else ... ANYONE ... I have to be riding shotgun, wide awake, bracing myself for the inevitable collision (that never comes).
Actually bracing yourself and tensing up is exactly what will kill you in a car crash. Being relaxed and limber can help prevent worse injuries. It's why drunk drivers are more likely to survive than their victims.
