I've been taking quite a few practice tests, and so far I feel satisfied with my accuracy on the reading section. However, I am having a lot of issues with timing, I frequently spend about 1-3 minutes longer than I should per passage. I am a relatively slow reader, and I'm feeling frustrated because I feel like I'm hitting my ceiling in terms of how quickly I can go through each passage without sacrificing accuracy. Any tips to improve my speed?
So I just did the SAT reading practice (I know it's different but they're actually kind of similar) and I finished it with 10 minutes left. The trick is to turn off your inner monologue and just read it at face value, it's so much faster. I suggest reading some books to get your brain used to this different style of reading. Also, don't take more than 20-30 seconds on any questions. I did this and went from missing 11 questions to only missing 2 questions.
Literally just read more, everyday. Try to start reading a book or so a week and you’ll naturally just start either paying more attention or comprehend the passages better.
When I studied for mine I tried to learn the concepts early on like the first week or two and then I would just grind practice tests until I got the score I wanted
Learn concepts through books like Erica meltzer for English. Reading and Science are mastered through practice. If you are 32+ in math just take practice tests and review each problem.
Did anyone else get screw over by ACT? I have never preciously taken an ACT and I was on the site first thing when they opened registration but the September ACT was filled up at every single local test center so now I am a senior that has to wait till October to take the ACT for the first time.
Thanks for the great video, I'm going into my sophomore year of high school and I'm trying to take the ACT test this fall, do you have any tips for someone like me who is taking their test their sophomore year?
Well in SF Bay Area only 1 school had a test center for the September date. It's filled, assuming it will probably cancelled because of Covid restrictions. All other locations not offering until December. So Test Optional it is. I have only one prior test in Dec 2019 it was a 31. All my prior test dates were cancelled. 31 not high enough for reach schools.
for the activities section on the common app, can we still include things that were cancelled bc of covid? i was a team captain for relay for life but the event got cancelled, so can this, and other things like this still be included?
Hi there, I wanted to directly talk to you mrs. Hanson about the conditions that I have as an international student applicant. Would you help me do that?
Hi, I’m an immigrant who just came last year and i was wondering if you could help me in preparing for the sat like i will be a junior next year and I wanna take the test. Please can you help me I wanna get like a 1460
Is it even that necessary to retake the ACT this year? since it seems like the majority of colleges will not require an ACT/SAT submission for the fall of 2021.
Just because it isn't required doesn't mean a good score won't help you. Admissions are competitive. You have to impress colleges somehow-- testing is one option.
I'm gonna try 21 hours a week (3 hours a day every day!) Also I have 1 bonus week so I adapted it to review once again my weaknesses. (Since I'm really awful when it comes to math, and I'm not a native speaker so...) Well I hope this helps tho ! LOL
Hey, is a 32 enough to help me get into Ohio State? I believe that my extracurriculars are a little lackluster (currently I hold only one leadership position).
Hey i got a 33. Im no expert, and i dont know what score youre aiming for, but my best piece of advice is dont overthink science. Make sure you are pacing yourself to finish it and make sure you get to every passage! If youre generally accurate, you can pull off a good score
Skip the passages and get really good with deciphering the questions. Don’t pay too much attention to the fancy scientific terms, just focus on what it’s asking you. Most ACT science questions just ask you to read a graph, making this quick and easy. This will help you a lot with time. Go over metric conversion and very basic bio and chem and you’ll be solid. You got this!
I can relate. I had issues with the timing and was not able to work the last experiment (I did mark "c" through the whole experiment to make sure I had an answer in the blank) I've had a lot of people say to not read the passage and just start answering questions. I have not taken it again since being given this advice but I plan to try it out. Just stay focused, practice as much as you can, and don't get discouraged. Everyone has a hard time with the ACT so you're not alone. Good luck to ya!
This is coming in clutch!
Can you do an SAT 6 week study plan as well for those taking SAT please
She did an 8 week one! I’ve been working through it during the summer and it’s a lot easier than you would expect😅
This was speaking to me because i only have exactly 6 weeks left
I have 4 weeks

i got a 32 reading by just doing something total PACT and reading books. Reading books helped a lot!

When we are self-studying for the ACT, should we focus on learning content or through taking more practice tests?

i wouldn’t recommend it bc they ask how many hours and weeks you spent doing it and colleges care more about things you put the most effort in:)
Hi there,
I wanted to directly talk to you mrs. Hanson about the conditions that I have as an international student applicant. Would you help me do that?
Can you do a video about act online testing/remote proctoring
Can you do this for SAT too.
She did one already
ACT is for enter in the university? Where I do the ACT?

in the video she says no, so i guess not

Most merit based scholarships will still use/need test scores to determine how much money to give you. So no, but actually yes.

I’m using Khan Academy’s math courses to help me study

Ohio colleges don’t require act anymore

Tres!
Callate
¡¡cuatro!!
But should I even bother doing the SAT/ACT if most universities aren’t requiring them?
Then apply to those.

Channel RUclips That also depends on when you are going to college, some scholarships are now not requiring ACT/SAT for 2020 and 2021.
Me watching this video after failing the first 4 weeks 👁👄👁. Then realizing I still have 2 weeks👀
Me expecting my test scores on Monday 😔
