  • Hey all, this is a video of how I built a Bread proofing box for my girlfriend. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
    Link to her video of her using the box: • BF handcrafted a bread...
    FYI I'm not a professional. I do not guarantee that yours will be the same but I encourage you to make your own, your way.
    All up this all cost me under A$300. I did use all brand new stuff. I would use this list as a suggestion not must use. Tools are my own but I reckon you'll need at least a drill and saw to complete.

    I am a contract painter, we use putty all the time, I will tell ya a tip, the reason you can see were all the putty holes are is simply because you didnt "prime" them first, they are a different material than the surrounding wood and most times putty has chemicals to make it dry faster so it doesnt always cure constant, so they stand out no matter what you do unless..you prime them first. Using a oil based primer or any "block sealer" water-based style primer will do. Do all the wood if your going to paint it, this brings all the "area" to one consistant plane so when you paint it, it all appears the same with out showing were you puttied. Im going to make this box myself you did a brilliant job sir,, and i thank you for sharing your efforts.

    Most don't have have space in a kitchen for a larg box to proof bread dough in so u improvise an use a. Deep dish roasting pan. An Mason jar. With water. 3 minutes to bring to a boil. Carefully set jar next to dough 1 to 2 inches away from dough inside. Put lid on an cover with a thick bath towel.

    Thank you so much! I have been eagerly waiting for this video. How long did it take to fabricate the proofing box? Great job of documenting. Again, thank you.

      Hey, it took me about a week. That includes using SketchUp to make my plans. Plus it was the end of winter here so I only did work in the afternoon when it was warmest.

    Yeah good job mate. I'm looking to make myself a proving box. I'll keep those tips in mind. How does it do with the humidity inside the box?

    Does the heater pad emit any unpleasant odors? Thanks for the video and plans.

    • @TheWilliz7
      @TheWilliz7  2 года назад

      No odours. The heat pad is just very warm to the touch. It's says it's for a reptile enclosure. I guess it's too warm the soil in the enclosure. We've not had any problems so far. In the small space, it works well.

    if that mat is water proof, you can put a wet sponge on it for added humidity.

    • @TheWilliz7
      @TheWilliz7  3 года назад

      It's not waterproof. It does say it's water resistant so don't submerge it in water. I guess if you have your sponge in a bowl or container would be find.

    Hi
    I have copied your design but I am curious to know how much higher the internal temperature is compared with the external temperature is
    I am only getting about 4 degree increase.
    Kevin

    • @TheWilliz7
      @TheWilliz7  2 года назад

      Hey Kevin. We get the temperature up to the low 20s *C in the box. The garage we keep it in the temperature would be under 10*C.
      It does take 20-30mins to pre-heat.
      Maybe check your door seal or get a high watt heat pad.
      Hope that helps.

    We're a traditional French bread is a cold dough it has to be kept cold the entire time and doesn't require proofing to make.

    Hello Renegade, It's me again BakerTed. I live in Jacksonville Florida. My question to you is would you be willing to share your Sketchup model of the Bread Proofing Box with me? I would really like to be able to print the plans as you designed them on separate enlarged sheets and build it exactly as you did yours. I understand that you can email the file (I believe it is an SKP file). I do not know how to securely share my email address with you on RUclips. If you have Facebook you could message me then I could provide my email address or GoogleDrive folder Or DropBox. Your project could not have come a t a better time. I bake sourdough bread and Croissants sell them to friends and your box is perfect and I could enlarge it as needed when the time is right. Thanks for your time. Edward Knight

    Biggest mistake most make when doing bread such as sour dough is putting there. Starter dough in the fridge cold kills the yeast. So does nicotine from cigarettes on your hands. And salt. And cold hands. Bleach hands if u smoke and wait 1 hour to give bleach time to evaporate off hands. Wash off with hot soap an water. before starting it. Keep hands warm by rubbing hands together to create friction so temperature of hands don't kill the yeast. Salt kills yeast. Never add salt to dough. And keep dough in a bright sunny window to keep warm. Or in a warm area of the kitchen such as above the stove.
    If extra sugar to feed dough is needed use powered sugar mixed with flour in a second bowl.

      No salt to dough .. You need to learn a lot, boy. Cold doesn't kill yeast, it slows down the proces.

      WTF if you don't add salt the bread tastes bland. You add 2% salt to total flour

  • @lightclawshadowmarsch8167

    Don't need to do all that all u need is the fallowing
    1 roasting pan
    1 jar of hot water.
    1 towel.
    1 batch of dough
    Stirp of wax paper to prevent dough form sticking to bottom of pan.
    Take dough. Place in roasting pan. Take. Jar of. Hot water from microwave 3 minutes.
    Add jar into roasting pan. 2 inches from side of dough.
    Place lid in top. Cover with towel to trap heat. Steam off jar will. Add. Moisture an help proof the dough as it cools. Towel keeps temperature regulated. Repet process 3 times. For. 60 minutes.
