    So far all my friends who bought properties in Malaysia regretted it, not just went down in value and currency depreciation, it is also tiring to go back and forth . Be like me , travel everywhere and rent AirBnB and see the world , why restrict on one location

    • @royt5618
      @royt5618 10 месяцев назад +2

      Does it make better sense to rent then say in Malaysia? e.g. for 1-3 months? but then you have to keep coming in and out of Malaysia

    • @kevinho4504
      @kevinho4504 10 месяцев назад

      @@royt5618 in the agile and digital age, all we need is a minimum place to stay where we are based but we can be anywhere we want to , Bali, Chiang Mai, Hanoi, Osaka , why restrict oneself to a location. We can do meaningful engagement work as long as we have free cash for coming in which is what I have built over the last 15 years . That to me is the best enjoyment in life and also doing meaningful community work in whatever locations we are in.

    Many people forget what Mahathir did some years ago, his government encouraged foreigners to buy malaysian properties, and then jacked it up to minimum 1million, then he tweaked the visa such that those who bought these properties could not even go back into their homes easily. The homes were left empty, unable to rent or sell and then the government changed hands to Najib which resulted in huge corruption scandals that brought down the country's economy causing their homes to become useless JUNK. This kind of nonsense will happen again and again. Same with the clob shares, they simply shut down trading without warning and millions of dollars owned by Singaporeans were lost. LKY's warning is often very accurate, "at the stroke of a pen, they can take it over". And you'll be caught without even your underwear when the tides go down and never come back.

At this rate people might as well get the investment visas from Spain, Greece, Portugal or Italy, and the sum at least lets you purchase real estate which you can live in. Becareful if one follow blindly. Not many can afford to have S$300k stucked with depreciating Malaysia Property. This amount in dividend stock can generate S$15k annually for your retirement. A big sum.

    MY govt is known to flip pratas. Who knows when the Anwar-led govt will be replaced next election? Political instability that flip flops on visa requirements is one key reason why most Singaporeans are sitting on the fence regarding the choice to retire in MY. IMO, just rent a luxury condo or landed property for a few months first to see if you like the neighbourhood and amenities before committing.

    Singapore is the Monaco of Asia, playground for the ultra-rich. The rest will be ignored. The current Singapore policies favours the top elites, ultra-rich, and talented individuals. For laggards, mediocre, average, not so talented Singaporeans, they will have to fight for the small pie and the leftover and maybe work for life to retire in Singapore.
    PVIP aka the Malaysia Golden Visa is actually for the super-rich and ultra-rich to have options as a “economic refugees”. The RM200K one off payment for 20 years is “chicken feet” (sup sup suey) for the ultra-rich.
    Probably young single Singaporeans can consider getting married to local Malaysian to obtain spouse visa.
    Other alternatives are to retire in other continents e.g. Europe, Australia, New Zealand, US, UK, South America, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, etc.
