22:30 Minor correction. Intimidate isn’t used on Stoutland in speedruns of BW because the text popping up every battle loses too much time. Stoutland is actually used due to its movepool and being lighter than Emboar (the previous Speedrun Pokémon) causing it to have a faster animation when sent into battle. I might not be 100% spot on but that’s the gist at least.
13:10 - Had to look it up. In USUM, there is a photomode called the Alola photo club where you can use Skyarrow bridge as a backdrop. There is an image online (probably from Serebii), where the player is posing with their Vicitini.
In order to do that the Pokémon needs to be from the region that has that area in it. Like for the bridge you need to bring a Pokémon from Black, White, Black 2 and White 2

The forest exit faces to the north, so you'd have to do around a 7-shaped turn afterward to get to the lookout.

31:18 It's true that Poison Heal was usually the preferred ability on Breloom, but Technician was also very good. In addition to Mach Punch, you get a boost to Low Sweep which becomes an extremely solid base 90 power move, which is rare for a Fighting move with 100 accuracy and not only no downside, but an UPSIDE instead (and a better upside than Sacred Sword, at that). The strat in competitive was to slap a choice band on it and go for Mach Punch to finish off weak mons, or go for Low Sweep if you predict the switch. The Technician boost makes banded Breloom a much more reliable revenge killer, and if you correctly mind-game your opponent and go for Low Sweep expecting them to switch out, then you get TWO massive hits on their next mon because you're basically guaranteed to outspeed them. Also Bullet Seed is 25 base power, so that's a thing, although maybe not so much for the main story since it's an egg move in this game I think. If you do get Bullet Seed, then it's an average base power of 116.25, with the lowest possible being 75, so it's almost always better than Seed Bomb, especially since you can always get lucky with a 187.5 base power move that hits through Sturdy and Substitute.

Pignati, Entry Log 88: Ah, Pinwheel Forest. Bianca brought me and the other two through here rather quickly. Never got to explore this place which is fair since she had to keep a schedule. Still, the first time coming here was quite the first look at how a forest made things feel so different. Plus, the fact that we were surrounded by wild pokémon made me, Snivy, and Oshawott all the more curious… heh, I wonder how those two are doing? It would be something if I get to see them when we return to my old home. McFly, Entry Log 83: Finally making our way to the other side of Unova. We’ve gone everywhere not here and then some. It is neat to be able to see Pignati’s old home area. Even if he likely didn’t get to see Pinwheel Forest all that much. It just feels good to be exploring where a friend used to live. There's not much here other than getting to hang out with Cheren for a bit to explore the forest and get to see an old Plasma member. He seems to be turning his life around at least I am thankful for that. Aiden, Entry Log 78: … I feel nervous. We are now on our way to Pignati’s old place. He’s never shared much of what it was like back here believing we’d get to come and see four ourselves one day. But from what little he had shared it sounded like quite a nice place. The friends he made also sounded quite inviting. I hope I don’t make a fool of myself when we make it to his place. I wonder what we will find beyond Pinwheel Forest? In fact, isn’t there a gym nearby? Jade, Entry Log 71: On our way to Pignati’s old living space. Heard he stayed here for a good long while. I can’t imagine it’s anything special though. Pignati feels to me he lived in a quiet and peaceful place. Nothing wrong with that but it does sound dull when you talk about it. From what he’s shared there’s Pinwheel Forest, Nacrene City, Wellspring Cave, Striaton City, the Dreamyard, Accumula Town, Nuvema Town, and then an entire side area you can travel to by water. Sounds like we still have a lot of areas to explore if nothing else. Let’s hope they give us some entertainment. Harmony, Entry Log 62: Hm, by simple nature of needing to capture us and reexploring the region. We’ve all been to our old homes. We’ve seen Blaise’s Aspertia city, been to McFly’s area in Virbank Complex, seen Aiden’s place in Castelia Park, me and Jade come from Desert Resort, and Lasagna lived in Seaside Cave. Yet due to Skyarrow Bridge being out for so long, we never got to see Pignati’s home. Hah hah, I’m giddy now that I’m thinking about it! I hope we get to see exactly what Pignati’s life was like before he got stuck with Blaise and the rest of us! Lasagna, Entry Log 30: I must wonder what kind of life it is to be a pokémon who lives among humans, I do indeed. Yes, I’ve been a part of this life for a while now sure, yes that’s true. But I grew up as a wild pokémon and this whole adventure has been a recent development, yes it is. For someone like me, I am quite curious how life for Pignati had been being born and raised in human society, yep yep. I can kind of get the gist of it from the time I’ve spent with Blaise and the others, I think so. Help and food always being there for you, getting to stay nice and clean every day, love and affection always in the air. Sounds like a paradise, indeed it does. Lasagna (without shell, lengthwise) 2’07”~, Aiden 3’03”, Harmony and Lasagna (with shell) 4’07”, Pignati 5’03”, McFly 5’11”, Jade 6’07”. Lasagna (without shell) 26.5 lbs.~ Harmony 30.9 lbs. Aiden 63.9 lbs. McFly 66.1 lbs. Jade 180.8 lbs. McFly 305.6 lbs. Pignati 330.7 lbs. Lasagna (with shell) 440.9 lbs.
For the battle subway you may have better luck in doubles since you have a great leading pair in Jade and Harmony with excellent support in back with Mcfly and either Aidan or Pignati to help handle the defensive end of having a pretty bad ice weakness on your front two Pokémon 8:10
Another case of Emile using "mainland" and not using it correctly. I'm fairly certain the only places not on the "mainland" of Unova are Liberty Garden and Union Tower Edit: forgot about the other islands on Route 17 and 18
It's funny you should mention Pinwheel Forest and how Nuzlockers handle it - We actually named the very clause in question after it! Pinwheel Clause, or Pinwheel Forest Clause, is an optional addition to the rules (similar to Dupes Clause or Shiny Clause) that states that areas with unique encounter tables but which share a name can have one Pokémon caught in each section of the area. Despite the name, it isn't necessarily strictly held to Pinwheel Forest - Each runner applies it differently, but other instances of it can be found in areas like Hoenn Route 111's normal and desert section, the insides and outsides of Mt. Pyre and Mt. Coronet, and a similar sort of clause has been widely accepted for the Kanto Safari Zone for a long time - The player may choose to take one encounter for the entire Safari Zone, but throw balls at every Pokémon they find that they can catch within their ruleset until something stays caught, or they can take a potentially riskier play and attempt to catch the first legal encounter in each section of the Safari Zone, but if it flees or they run out of balls, they don't get another shot in that section. Pinwheel Forest, as the name implies, is the most standard use of Pinwheel Clause, largely due to how early it is in BW1 runs, but it's generally accepted (at least in the Nuzforums circles) that the rules are ultimately up to each individual player, so long as the core two rules of first (legal) encounter and faint = death are kept intact for the most part (enough to "keep the Nuzlocke spirit" so to speak), rules like Pinwheel Clause are fair game! That could, of course, be abused in theory - One could make the argument that "surfing, fishing, and grass encounters are all separate tables, so they're fair game," or "this part of the Wild Area has different encounters in different weather, so I should be able to get one from each weather condition", but I've never actually seen anyone do that, I think because most folks doing Nuzlockes recognize that the increased difficulty is part of what makes a Nuzlocke and Nuzlocke, and abusing rules to excessive degrees like that saps the fun out of it. Not unlike shiny hunting to abuse the Shiny Clause most people apply, for instance. But yeah! That's how Nuzlockers handle Pinwheel Forest. Some people apply Pinwheel Clause liberally, some people are more strict about it, and some people disallow it altogether in favor of limiting areas like Pinwheel Forest to one encounter regardless of the distinct tables. It's up to the player, just like other optional clauses or rules like Dupes Clause or Shiny Clause or more obscure ones like Notepad Clause. That's a fun thing about Nuzlockes, they're a bit customizable like that, even if your choice of teammates might not be :p
22:28 The other reason not mentioned here is the fact that Stoutland is lighter. When a pokemon is sent out in this games, it lands and has a splash effect depending on how heavy the impact is. Stoutland is in the category below emboar in weight, which causes a shorter splash animation. Stoutland is sent out enough times in battle that it saves a significant amount of seconds to help make it more preferable to the fire starter with the reasons mentioned in video
The bigger reason why speedrunners use stoutland is that emboar creates a dust cloud when landing after being sent out which take up nearly 2 seconds each time. Also you might have confused grass knot for empoleon as he can learn it
i think i commented this ages ago when you first talked about the weight effect, but things like intimidate and the move pool aren't the only reason stoutland is used over the starters. the weight dust effect adds up over time, so it's also a time saver! edit: omg the name on the slaking..
I remember Murkrow was really big in competitive in early Scarlet/Violet because it was literally the only Pokemon with Prankster that could learn Tailwind. Nowadays, people use Tornadus, but Whimsicott was the big one in SwordShield.
I knew something was missing today. Thanks for being an angel since I have to deal with something nervewracking this week which could make or break my future career. You are a guardian angel.
31:16 Brelooms Technician ability is actually far preferred to Poison Heal because, while you did mention mach punch getting boosted, it also boosts bullet seed and rock tomb. This turns it into one of the best cleaners/wall breakers in competitive during this generation
The best thing about Prankster Murkrow is that its one of very few Pokemon capable of pulling off Perish Trapping decently. Getting access to priority Roost or Taunt is really helpful for making the strat more consistent even if we really need it on more Pokemon
Note that the place at 13:04 is not "where you fight Victini" in USUM. It's simply the backdrop in the photo studio that you get when using a Pokémon from BW/B2W2. I understand you either never played USUM (don't blame ya) or didn't do the mode and just saw a photo is Victini in there Edit: Yeah the image for the backdrop on Serebii shows it with Victini so that'd be it
I looked it up, Chugga seems to be misremembering one of the Alola Photo Club backgrounds. It is of Skyarrow Bridge and It's unlocked by having a pokemon caught in the Unova games.
Chugger underrated technician Breloom here. It's fantastic, with strong mach punches, strong low sweeps allowing for speed control, and potentially monstrous bullet seeds. Technician bullet seed hitting 5 times in a row has the highest BP in the game
Video gets uploaded a bit later due to issues out of your control, and then the title of the video. It’s a match made in heaven. This is something you just can’t make up
This let's play has really changed the way i look at Simisear. I used to think it was pretty bad, but you've really proved how exceptional it is! I'll never play through a Unova game without one on my team again! Thanks, chugga!
Y'know, I have a really funny story about a battle facility. One of the opponents was this Aurorus and I kid you not, it spent the entire battle just changing the weather. XD
@ 15:20 Imagine if Toxicroak had Iron Fist instead of Poison Touch. Give a bit of extra damage to Poison Jab, Drain Punch, and the Elemental Punch Coverage moves.
One thing I'll note for Yanmega is that its other ability, Tinted Lens, is INSANE - to resist its attacks, you have to quad resist Bug or Flying, which makes it MUCH harder to switch into, and turns it into an amazing candidate for Choice items, specially Specs.
There are some places that you still can’t get 100% for habitat locations because you still lack a fishing rod. Just keep traveling until you finally reach Nuvema Town and you can get a fishing rod.

Simisear took being treated horribly personally, all those years of being called the worst and here it is getting its revenge.
For the battle subway you may have better luck in doubles since you have a great leading pair in Jade and Harmony with excellent support in back with Mcfly and either Aidan or Pignati to help handle the defensive end of having a pretty bad ice weakness on your front two Pokémon 8:10
4:51 and successfully shiny hunted a shiny minccino in early game without the use of shiny charm, Tim is something else.😳
>describes Leafeon, is less than thrilled
>realises Vaporeon can't learn Grass moves
Karma for Leafeon, I guess
Another case of Emile using "mainland" and not using it correctly. I'm fairly certain the only places not on the "mainland" of Unova are Liberty Garden and Union Tower
Edit: forgot about the other islands on Route 17 and 18
I feel like he just looks at the way the routes are laid out, and not the actual map underneath
Emile getting his shit wrecked by Pokémon he said were crap will never not be funny!
I still hope we get the Life Orb for Harmony via the PWT or the Multi-Battle Train
Based on this vid it's gonna have 2 b life orb via the PWT cuz the subway trainers r kicking a$$ & taking names lol
Definitely feels like Harmony is the Haywire of this play through
I half expected this to be the episode where Chugga finally found a shiny.
Was anyone else expecting that?
We may have to wait for his next Pokemon LP for a shiny capture.
Another shiny. Since he did get one in Crystal. But yeah, maybe he'll get another one for a teammate someday.
@@NoctournalDonutPerhaps.
@@shwahgamerI'd love to see him find a shiny in Sun & Moon.
@@TKG785I think Chugga's probably going to do Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon instead, like how he did Emerald and Platinum.
1:34 again as someone who likes Simisear I have a devilish smile to this as irony to Chugga trashing on the lil monkey
I see this game as a spiritual successor to Gold and Silver, and this episode is a big reason why
I guess that Emile's gonna be grinding the battle subway after this video. Big Oof. 😒
Chugga a couplefew episodes back: "ELEMENTAL MONKEYS ARE _TRASH!"_
That Battle Subway Simisear: "And I took that personally."
I just noticed that Cheren’s hair tuft wiggles when he runs. It’s kinda cute.
6:00 they know Legends Arceus is coming and are delaying the evolution.
So many critical hits this episode
Its platinum all over again
Oh yes, frighteningly so
It warms my heart every time Emile gets his shit rocked by a simisear
I understand you either never played USUM (don't blame ya) or didn't do the mode and just saw a photo is Victini in there
Edit: Yeah the image for the backdrop on Serebii shows it with Victini so that'd be it
I think the stats of his Pokemon are catching up to them. And incredibly bad luck.
I'd like a Heart Gold/Soul Silver let's play far far more than I'd like a X/Y let's play, I'm all for you going back to Johto!
“This is where you fight Victini in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon”
u wot
I looked it up, Chugga seems to be misremembering one of the Alola Photo Club backgrounds. It is of Skyarrow Bridge and It's unlocked by having a pokemon caught in the Unova games.
Even after all these years, the Unovan Route 2 music still stands out to me for how good it is for such an early route theme.
Nothing ever goes right whenever danger happens.
Skyarrow Bridge is some of the best 2.5D perspective at this point in the series.
Okay so Emile constantly trashing the elemental monkeys only for one to sweep his team was pretty funny.
Join me in the rare witness of a non 4pm Chugga upload 😮 my man is so consistent that no one even minds if this happens 💯
Chugger underrated technician Breloom here. It's fantastic, with strong mach punches, strong low sweeps allowing for speed control, and potentially monstrous bullet seeds. Technician bullet seed hitting 5 times in a row has the highest BP in the game
Maybe you're thinking of the Piplup line learning Grass Knot? That always tripped me up.
I can imagine chugga's face on Courage the Cowardly Dog's body saying
The things I do for medals 😂
Chugga doing the scream after getting swept by a simisear would be hilarious
Man simisear is out to show you its not that bad- I respect it, I kinda love simisear
Thanks to salty's friendlocke I can't see tye move energy ball without thinking of Pete Ness' cutaway gags
lmao
_Sweeps with a Simisear_ "I praise you for coming up here. But now, go home!"
As the modern poet Scooter once said "If nothing goes right, go left" rapidly followed by "seven is the number, the eight wonder"
Him losing to simisear must have been humiliating and the at the end looks wonderful and intimidating
I remember the Leafeon and Ludicolo double battle. That Leafeon was one of my biggest challenges as a kid.
I always get caught off guard whenever he pronounces "Ludicolo"
Somewhere jon is Laughing
I was thinking the same thing basically
Video gets uploaded a bit later due to issues out of your control, and then the title of the video. It’s a match made in heaven. This is something you just can’t make up
This let's play has really changed the way i look at Simisear. I used to think it was pretty bad, but you've really proved how exceptional it is! I'll never play through a Unova game without one on my team again! Thanks, chugga!
I love how the title fits ironically! 😂
The revenge of Simisear, battles gone wrong.
One blunder after another huh, sound like me in math class. Fortunately playing Pokémon is easier and much more fun than math
Funniest episode yet! Seriously I’m going to keep watching Chugga’s lp’s until the legendary hiker retires!
A thorn in the knot sounds terrifying and painful.
Also, that Simisear is the villain of the next arc.
God I love this series
The stoutland reason in speedruns is partially the time save from avoiding the heavy pokemon landing effect you'd get with emboar
Y'know, I have a really funny story about a battle facility.
One of the opponents was this Aurorus and I kid you not, it spent the entire battle just changing the weather. XD
The nurse aide's line at 16:51 reminds me of the preschool teacher from the episode of the Pokémon anime series: The Purrfect Hero lol
Damn that semisear got his revenge after emile talk s**t on it for how long
@ 15:20
Imagine if Toxicroak had Iron Fist instead of Poison Touch. Give a bit of extra damage to Poison Jab, Drain Punch, and the Elemental Punch Coverage moves.
Poison Jab isn't a punching move, though
@@SuperGoker64 you get what I mean though.
One thing I'll note for Yanmega is that its other ability, Tinted Lens, is INSANE - to resist its attacks, you have to quad resist Bug or Flying, which makes it MUCH harder to switch into, and turns it into an amazing candidate for Choice items, specially Specs.
"This is where you encounter Victini in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon"
HUH?!?!?
I bet Jon's loving this episode.
The irony of that title after Emile had an issue with the video today 😅
There are some places that you still can’t get 100% for habitat locations because you still lack a fishing rod. Just keep traveling until you finally reach Nuvema Town and you can get a fishing rod.
Between laughing at the Simisear moment and smiling at the Slaking's nickname, this has the good balance of funny moments and heartwarming moments!
Oh what a fitting name for what happened!
