    Here's a thing Apple should do:
    Since we most often use the same colour for certain instruments, groups, busses etc, imagine if all those colours could be pre-defined in the system so every time you rename a track the colour would automatically change to the pre-defined.

    • @foundpat
      @foundpat 2 года назад +4

      brilliant idea. You should send this request in to apple. Probably be quite easy for them to do!

    • @cornerliston
      @cornerliston 2 года назад +5

      @@foundpat We should all do! The more the likelier they listen? : )

      Yeah, it's called a template.

    • @cornerliston
      @cornerliston 2 года назад

      @@rayfingers Templates are nice to have and I have a basic setup-but it doesn't solve the overall problem.
      If you're used to importing templates probably you have a solid workflow.
      I don't like importing templates so I'd rather keen on having something as my suggestion.
      Every single click and action you can rationalise is welcome in my workflow.

    I found this a while back while setting Logic up on a new machine and it has been really helpful and I'm glad someone made a video about it. Now if only we could arrange tracks in the mixer like you can in Mainstage. I guess that may come one day in a major update. But I've been wishing for this since Logic platinum. Yea kids, I'm that old!! LOL

    • @rome8180
      @rome8180 2 года назад +2

      Are your tracks arranged by instrument? Like, do you have all the guitars in a row and all the drums in a row? Or are you using busses? If either of those are the case, it's pretty easy to go through and select all the guitars since they're all right next to each other. Then you just make them all the same color at the same time. It's not as quick as this option, but it's more useful, imo. Doesn't it make more sense to have all the guitars be one color rather than all of them different colors anyway?

    I find it much more useful to have all the guitars be one color, all the drum tracks one color, etc. I was hoping there'd be a quick way to do that.
    But since I use a template anyway, it's not really an issue. My template has maybe 4-5 empty guitar tracks, 4-5 vocal tracks, etc. Each instrument type has a designated color and icon. If I need another guitar track, I just press command-D and it duplicates the track with the color and icon, etc.

    Hi!
    Can we also change the color of the ruler itself? So, the horizontal bar where you set the playhead?
    I find it really unhandy that is has the same color as the grid.
    I don't want to work with lots of colors for everything, although I do sometimes change colors for one or plural regions f.e. if I need to review them later or to show which ones go together in different parts of a project.
    Now, if I could change the ruler to something rather unsimular as the standard cycle color (yellow, duh) to - say - mint green or a red like color for me that would be helpful.
    I don't think this function exists , yeah maybe by changing the internal Logic GUI, but I dont want to go there ...
    Any tips are helpful, keep it up, you already learnt me loads of stuff!
    Greetz from the Netherlands !

    I am on Logic Pro 10.8.1 which should be the latest update and I don't seem to have a Preferences or a Display choice to choose from in order to change colors in the way you are explaining. Don't ya hate it when that happens :) Any thoughts on this? My goal is to do the '24 colors' option that you are doing as I would like to have my midi notes in different colors for each track. This way when I do overlapping tracks on one piano roll they will be more easily identifiable.

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  2 года назад

      The only thing I can think of that would create what you're describing is if the tracks are in a group, and "color" is a group assignment. But then if you create a new track, it shouldn't be in the group? So I'm not exactly sure. Try opening a brand new blank project and start creating tracks and see what happens.
