+Trainboy7 yes they need to. Of course it was easier for them with 9v slap a motor on it and its ready to go. Sadly now we have power functions which is a huge inconvenience. But they should re issue sets like the engine shed and some other old train sets
Luke Schroeder that would be nice. But I'd doubt they would ever bring back the Lego 9v train system. Maybe if they made some kind of RC motor similar to the 9v one It'd be alright.

+AlmightyArjen Maybe it can help smaller children to find the correct pieces and put them in the correct places. Also, the coloring chemicals of those interior pieces may be cheaper than the ones used on the exterior pieces of the set.
+AlmightyArjen Techniques like that are for younger children putting these sets together, so they can clearly and easily see which pieces go where. I'm 16, so I don't have to worry about that, but it is still helpful for younger kids!

I've plenty 1 x 4 sliding bricks and the 1 x 2 plate with rail in my collection to modify the container crane. Now I have used small train wheels inspired by the old 12v container crane.

I like the classic speed regulator for trains. That black and yellow tone gives it a sensation of being a tool, instead of the new orange gray combination, in my opinion makes it look childish.
임재호 Dude, loads of LEGO train locomotives look similar in some areas whether it's the shape, repeated pieces or colour. If you cover up the cab sections you'll notice it is in fact, completely different.

Is it just me, or is there a shiny rim of paint around the train wheels? Or is it a lighting effect?
wow im late, if you're still wondering, its rubber around the rim that touches the track for grip so they don't slip like on older sets.
