A customer brought one to me to take a look at. A beautiful little receiver. The ability to receive digital modes is awesome and it's such a small unit. I think I'm going to get one and retire my RSP2 and free up my PC for other projects.
@@brentonmeadowsvk3cm, you can get a demo of the software here... www.butel.nl/products/ardv1/arcdv1.html There is a Basic and Pro version there that you can purchase. I don't know if the demo is time limited or not.
wish my dv-1 would work the way all others do. I've upgraded my firmware many times, had others look at it, contacted AOR, been on radio Ref and finally a radio shop. p-25 and sensitivity is poor on the vhf and above. compared to all my other scanners on all different types of antennas. my old aor 3000a beat them all. From telescoping antenna to a 70ft tower just trying to understand what's going on. 73's
Hi Joe, I was pretty lucky, in Australia, even through Australia's largest ham radio store (www.strictlyham.com.au) and hes never making huge margins, has them at a discounted price of $1800 AUD here in Aussie. A mate in NSW was feeling sorry for me for this in the box as new one, $950 AUD posted to my door. I was overjoyed as I couldn't see myself stretching for the new price unfortunately, but now to learn all about it. Just trying to dig up the AOR programming software that I think is on the net somewhere. A mate sent me some CSV files to load up local fire authority etc, so its a start for sure. cheers Brenton VK3CM
@@brentonmeadowsvk3cm Wow Brenton, you did get it for a great price. $950.00 AUD is about $650.00 USD. The best I have seen it for is around $1000.00 USD or higher. SDR radios are changing the world of Armature radio. Going to be interesting to see what comes out with SDR in the next 5 years. 73s Joe
It looks pretty cool. I had a Ic-r8500 in the past and I thought about upgrading to digital more than once. Is it possible to schedule a recording session at a pre-determined hour of the day with the DV-1? That would be great for the HF band
Dear friends, I am ham and radio listening enthusiast. In the next few days I will receive the AOR DV1 receiver. I'd like to know who's using it, how it's feeling. On which bands do you get the best? With which antennas? Thank you all ! Alfredo, IK7JGI
i'd like to find out if there is a way to tune and adjust this radio. I have nothing to lose doing it, my extended warranty is over. and hasn't worked correctly since I got it. my p-25 is unintelligible. wonder if it's off-frequency or out of audio adjustment. Appreciate any tuning info. thanks 73's
Most areas of digital it will work aok but some areas of trunking etc can be laborious or even impossible. The use on c4fm and dmr seemed aok, although even dmr has its funnies. cheers Brenton vk3cm
Yes it will work out of the box , It is great to put it in auto mode then it will do everything for you , What happens is it know if its picking up a signal in AM/FM or LSB/USB or any other & will change over for you .
I was wondering are all the knobs and switches made of plastic? I'm thinking to get a AR8600 or this one. AR8600 looks a luxury tough built machine. AR-DV1 has much more features than 8600 but looks like a plastic toy. Umm, i can't decide which! haha

Had mine for about 6 months' time to go on eBay, not a lot of digital stuff near me!

You should turn off that background noise/chatter when talking - hard to understand what you are saying..
But scanner looks awsome
Fair call, will make sure we take that on board for future videos, many thanks Brenton VK3CM
