    Never really understood why this park gets hated on so much, every time I go I can’t help but appreciate how gorgeous the whole park is! It’s also just pure fun anytime I visit!

      It’s probably because sea world abuses their animals so as a whole they are a terrible company 😔

    I love this place, and it definitely does not deserve the hate. The family coasters are fun, Manta nearly being the best in the park. Emperor was my first dive coaster, and was surprisingly good. It is also a really nice looking park.

    I live in San Diego and the lockers and parking are the exact reasons why I almost never go to SeaWorld unless I get a free ticket or something. Sarah said it perfectly, it's ridiculous to make every single ride an upcharge attraction because you are REQUIRED to put your things in a locker in order to ride. The ticket prices are NOT cheap, without a discount it's like $130 for a one day ticket and parking is like $40 or something insane. There is absolutely no excuse for them to charge an extra $3 for the rides, especially on top of the robbery that is the food prices. Sometimes I consider getting a pass because their coaster lineup now is decent, but then I remember the lockers thing and how expensive everything is there and I lose interest in visiting. Either the lockers should be a very small fee, like $5 for the entire day across the park, or they need to be free. I complained to guest services several times about it and they argued with me that you are not actually required to pay for a locker because you can have someone else hold your stuff when you ride...which a) doesn't work when you go by yourself, and b) if you aren't by yourself that means that you have to designate one person in your group to not go on a ride so they can hold the other people's things??? Beyond ridiculous and just evidence of the shameless and rampant corporate greed that is allowed in this country in the death throes of the failed experiment of capitalism.

    Great video and I love more people realizing how good SWSD is because it is my home park! one little note, that is the ocean and the land right across from it is fiesta island (a very cool place where you can drive to the beach and have fires and there's a dog park. its a super cool area)

  • @what_27
    @what_27 22 дня назад +1

    In order to not have the bad experience with lockers, wear a fanny pack! They are allowed on every ride except for Arctic, and there, you can just put them on the side. It’s a little uncomfortable on emperor especially, but still totally worth it!

    Never been to SeaWord, but this is so fun to see the inside of the park because when marathon training, I run around Mission Bay and that park entrance multiple days a week. Maybe I should actual pop in one day. 😂

    This park could definitely use a kids coaster especially considering the only other 2 Sea World Sea World parks have just 1 and this has none.

    • @everythinghyrum
      @everythinghyrum Месяц назад +3

      I think part of the reason it doesn't is because the Sesame Place in Chula Vista less than an hour away does have a kiddie coaster. However that one is weird to me because the park is like mostly a water park, mixed with a kids park so it's just very weird (used to be Aquatica). I live in San Diego and have a SeaWorld Platinum pass but I've never been to Sesame Place because I feel like I am so far from its target demographic. Anyway, I still feel like a kiddie coaster would be a good fit at SeaWorld San Diego

    • @MGMutt
      @MGMutt Месяц назад

      Is arctic rescue not a kids coaster in your mind?

    • @everythinghyrum
      @everythinghyrum Месяц назад

      @@MGMutt in a sense it is, but I'd bill it as a family coaster over a kids coaster. The seats are large enough to accommodate full grown adults comfortably, and the size and forces are still enough for an older person to enjoy it. The kids that would enjoy Arctic rescue are probably closer to 8-10 years old vs a kiddie coaster where it's specifically targeting kids in the 4-8 year old range. Look at Knott's new coaster for an example of a kiddie coaster and compare its size to Arctic rescue, you'll see that it's quite a bit less intense.

      This park has way too many family coasters. The kids can have fun on that.

    A few points I would like to address as someone who’s home park is SWSD:
    1. As a Manta freak, your cinematography is AMAZING!!!!!
    2. As someone who rode Manta as their first coaster when I was little (and was mildly terrified), I think Arctic Rescue is a great coaster for the little ones before they ride Manta.
    3. I think was there the same week you went and I believe they gave Electric Eel a new train hence the closure (comfort collars are still there unfortunately).
    4. As someone who understands the SWSD lineup and park very well, I think we could use either a compact RMC Raptor or a B&M Surf Coaster next. Either would be a great option. There is a plot of land in the back that they don’t use much if at all and you could definitely fit either.
    5. Which is better, Big Bear Mountain or Manta?

    • @user-yp8xk3kb3m
      @user-yp8xk3kb3m Месяц назад +1

      It’s so funny how an RMC raptor is on every single San Diego coaster enthusiast mind for Seaworld, San Diego, but I don’t see why not

    I think my favorite part of this video is watching Taylor give his analysis of the new coaster while standing in lighting that made him look like a Smurf, LOL =) (Confession: I haven't been to a Sea World park since I was like 10 years old so they've changed a LOT since my last visit! I hope to get back to the one in FL at some point but in the meantime, I have enjoyed your videos showing me all the new stuff at all the SW parks. Keep up the great work!)

    I feel bad for not coming here for their 60th anniversary when I return to California this August, but we already have way too much planned for Anaheim so we just couldn't make it work. For that reason, I hope to return sooner rather than later in the future because a lot of that new stuff looks awesome. Plus, I did visit SeaWorld San Antonio a couple weeks ago so I didn't miss out on the 60th celebration that much.

    I sooo miss the wave entrance. There have been rumors about a wing coaster eventually going over the new entrance like at Cedar Point, but I don't see how that necessitated the removal of the wave. Oh well. SWSD has a lot of charm, I just wish some operations details would be improved. Either make the lockers transferable, or make them last longer than an hour. Make sure ride photos are always available to save to photo key, if not with a staffed counter then with a self-service kiosk. And do something to make the ride wait times in the app accurate 🙏

    The surcharges on food that Sea World, Six Flags, etc. are doing is very trashy. The price is the price. If they’re going to demand a ridiculous price, they should be required to fairly advertise that price. An asterisk at the bottom of a sign is a joke.

    Emperor was my first dive coaster and it definitely didn't live up to the dive coaster expectations I had created in my own head. The ride felt like Arctic Rescue, almost forceless. Manta is still better. I agree about the locker situation.

    It looks like you 2 had a good time but the things like the security checks, the surcharges, the constant upcharges with the lockers and skyride and the lack of platform bins just seem awful imo. Like I cant believe ao many theme parks on the US are going down this route with overcharging and putting up barriers for guests so much because at least for me, all of these things would be huge dealbreakers, no matter how good the coasters and rides are. Im sure they could still provide good animal care and park investment, likely even more than they do today without all of these extra hurdles. They seem like theyre just there as a way to increase overall profits to shareholders, which doesnt benefit neither the guests, the park, nor the animals at all. And that sucks. Theme parks should be here to let as many people as possible have a good time and great experiences, not as a machine to milk peoples wallets dry, just to hand over it all to shareholders.
