I bought an '84 RM250 racing bike from a racer who upgraded (Hi, Chris Story if you're reading). He told me it had around 55bhp!!!! Whatever, I gave the pigs a good run around on that bike around Bangor North Wales back in the 80's. They never caught me ( on that one...).

Chris, I remember these full floater rear end bikes when they first came out.........they were absolute magic in comparison to the competition. The bumps looked like they were painted on the ground instead of actually being there..By the time '84 rolled around Suzuki had the geometry fully worked out and these were a great bike for privateers.......no fuss, no muss.....just get on and race. The next year they went with a single strut rear end and they were even better. They crowded the starting lines all across the U.S. and brought home their share of the gold.

Those Suzuki’s really excelled in the rough sections of the track. They were a very close copy of the factory bikes of the time.

Hi Scott thanks again for your feedback and look after yourself over there in sunny California while we’re freezing our nuts off here in a wet and dismal Scottish Winter.

Very tidy. I’ve got an 85 which I’ve had a few seasons. I’ve not actually ridden much though. I see this bike has decent plastics and seat foam which are quite hard to find replacements for which tends to put people off restoring them.

I had the 84 model and the 85 model, fantastic bikes, very nice to ride, comfortable and smooth power but underpowered compared to the Yamaha of the time with the power port, but definitely my favorite bike of all the bikes I've owned.

That really is a nice specimen, but I can't help but notice that tank looks top heavy!
I had a 1980 YZ250, and looking back, it was as well. Great bike though, back in the day, it was what it was.

I never realized, but it looks like from the factory they had a bolt on spot on the left side for a kickstand.

I got one of these new and I found an old photo of me working on it with the blue side stand down.
