Every xeno is a doggo. Lizard teacher? Scalie doggo. Insect student? Crunchy doggo. Slime student? Puddle doggo. All friends are doggos, all doggos are friends, and if they weren't they wouldn't be friend-shaped.
I've honestly thought about that in context of why homosapian survived the last iceage opposed to the other 6 homo- that were around and this is the best reason I can come up with.

They would "toast" hard enough for their cups to splash into each other, so if one of them were poisoned then the poisoner would die too. Mutually assured destruction is a much older tradition in our history than we like to think lol

Dogs are a curious study in domestication. Dogs have lived as domesticated creatures with us sincea point in time where humanity had a not unreasonable chance at meeting a neanderthal. While it is true love of dogs is not a universal. There have been studies that showed differing parts of the brain ignight around them than with other domesticated creatures [Citation needed : Could not quickly find source.] Many humans will treat a dog being abused with more emotion and ferocity than if said abuse happened to other humans. And those pirates are threatening our new xeno-canine friend. God have mercy. Because we won't.

Genuinely suprised you can study history and come out pragmatic tbh. Im in college for it now and while theres plenty of example of humans being dog shit theres so many examples of humans just not understanding the concept of impossible its hard to be to cynical of anything.

I remember once I came across a few writing prompts on Reddit that had some similar elements to this story, there were some great stories that focused on the persistence hunting, in high empathy, music but it’s really nice to see a story that delves into all of these in on go without it feeling bloated.

Somehow, I've come across this and a couple similar channels narrating sci-fi stories with no video. It was a stroke of luck as I enjoy them. They remind me of the old radio plays from before TV was invented, mostly 1930s, 1940s and into the 1950s. The primary difference between them is the radio shows had different people voicing the different characters providing a bit more theatricality to the presentation. But overall, an enjoyable presentation.

They dont naturally speak it. For the context of the story, they speak English so we can understand them. As for their communication with humans, the story brings up "translations", meaning that while the Xenos learned English enough to speak, they still dont understand ALL of English, as well as in written form. Also, we have a thing that we take for granted in English: context. One word can have 7-8 different meanings, all reliant on context clues. "No one ****s with humankind" being one, as the word that was confused has different meanings. THAT happens enough for someone trying to learn English.
