The first round's ranking, as it got to the last few places, really didn't make sense to me either. Sometimes I can't understand how the judges rank? It feels confusing 😣 I'd like to know what the basis even is. In later episodes though, you can tell that the judges really do start to care for the boys a lot, especially K.Will (the main MC). So as much as some of the comments they make seem harsh and the rankings seem weird, you can see that it's all because they do want them to succeed and do well. It's funny to see the contrasts in some of the duos. Like, Jooheon and #GUN are best friends so they can work well together to create something cool. But Shownu and Kihyun are so awkward with each other, or Minkyun and Yoosu who can't even agree on a song. So they'll likely have a harder time working together. Even though they're competing, they still have to make something good and cooperate. It's all about that synergy 😉 Also, for reference in terms of the judges, Hyolyn and Soyou are from Sistar (Starship's girl group at the time). K.Will and Wheesung are the two older men and they're kind of big deal singers. Mad Clown and Rhymer (the other two judges in the first round and Rhymer was also a part of the second round), as well as Giriboy and San E are all producers/rappers that were under Starship at the time. Giriboy actually produced a lot of Monsta X's older tracks (Rush being the most prominent title track he did). Other judges come on later who are also mostly producers I think?
Oh no we got to the infamous Shownu/Kihyun performance! We don't really like to talk about it in this household Alice, we just pretend it never happened hahahaha. It was so cringy! And yes I agree with you: to this day, I don't understand how Minkyun was placed higher than Min and Seokwon; I will never understand I guess! I had completely forgotten this was the episode that Min cried! Please, I can't! Ouch my heart! P.s: I loved your shirt btw!!!
I forgot how one of the most stressful parts is the pacing, haha. Three episodes to get through the 1st mission, and then ONE performance of the 2nd mission at the end? Who edited this??? Minhyuk crying though. Poor thing :(
Remeber to be highly critical of this show. A lot of it was fake and they put all the trainees under extrem amout of stress. The professionals in this show are sometimes really degraiding (this only get's worse in future episodes) towards the contestants. Also the editing is really off sometimes, it's really obvious often times. Some background info for example: Jooheon, #GUN, Shownu and Wonho already "debuted" together and are all really good friens. Same goes for other trainees especially Minhyuck and Hyungwon as they are childhood friends. There are many other shady things going on such as trainees being really good in some performances and then suddenly lacking skill... and much more oc Monsta X really hate talking about this show and on many occasions heavily expressed their disgust towards it. If somethings seem a little off or uncomfortable for you 99% it's even worse. Don't feel bad about not agreeing with some of the professionbals opinons as they clearly do not make sense a lot of the time (also bad editing on the performances, we literally saw 4 seconds of Minkyun's stage I don't get how that's fair, in later missions some teams clearly a favored from the start with better songs/ stages and stuff). I'm not saying this to be negative but this show is really really the worst "survival" show I've ever seen and you only see what's going on in front of the camera... I don't even want to imagine what all went on bts. I think some of this you will also see if you watch future episodes. Anyways, thank you for the reaction and I will continue to support your journey with Monsta X. PS: Kihyun and Jooheon earned all my respect after this show, especially Jooheon. You can see (even from the bad editing) how he saw through all of the stratiegics to put the trainees against eachother and had none of that bs. He seriously handelt everything so professional and I think with a genuiene person like him there, the show and the relationsships between everyone were improved a lot. Really glad he was there. Oc I respecrt everyone in this show (shoutout to Wonho who was basically sick all the time and overworking himself) but those two really stood out imo. sorry for the long comment just wanted you to know
