Berserk 1997 portraited this scene and how Guts looked afterwards so well. It may have skipped over some content but to me it was a very good adaptation
It was an odd change to me. In the manga, the kid was partially behind the door. Guts heard someone out there and quickly killed them before they raised the alarm, only THEN realizing it was a child. The senseless way an innocent lost their life to him was what bothered him. He didn't know what he would have done if he HAD known it was a child first. It was a huge catalyst for him wanting to leave, he'd killed a child for another man's dream, even on accident. Knowing it was a kid for a good 5 seconds takes all that away. It means he's fully capable of knowingly killing a child for Griffith and more, instead of leaving him questioning himself. Still a good show, though
