    You didn't block out the primary side of the original transformer pad like they asked you.
    Also I think you don't have enough clearance to the right side of the disconnect for the 480VAC (that window unit is the problem), there's a section under NEC 230 (grounding) that requires a side clearance from live lugs within a panel to the nearest grounded surface to each side of the equipment, that also applies to behind you, the space in front of the panel...not that the front clearance applies in this instance, your wide open there.
    It's been 25 years since I retired as an Industrial Electrical Contractor, don't remember my code well anymore and ain't going to find one of my copies of the NEC.
    You need to learn the art of 'Patience' ... You can't always have everything on your terms and time frame. I'm sure rushing things & pushing too hard has tripped you up many times in the past.
    Getting in too much of a hurry is one ingredient of a good 'Cluster Fuck!'

    Looking good Erik, FYI, you can make both, you and the utility contractor happy, leave a hole in the middle of the slab pour between the conduits for future conduit use. After the concrete has setup approx. +80% (no more possible shrinkage), fill in the area with non-shrink grout about 1-2 inches thick. It will stop bug intrusion and in the future if someone needs to add a conduit, they can just break it out. It worked for me many times.

  • @davidgagnon2849
    @davidgagnon2849 3 года назад +1

    Yes. The electric utility needs a window there. YOU may not need to add any more conduits to that transformer, but THEY might. One thing I learned during my 30 year career in electric utilities is plan ahead. Another thing they'll need access for there is for driving a ground rod.

    • @ErikCortina
      @ErikCortina  3 года назад

      Ground Rod is installed already.
      They will never do anything with that window, and me as a concrete contractor know that it will be more harm than good collecting water. So I didn’t put one in.

    • @ErikCortina

      I have a voicemail from inspector telling me where to set the pipes. Then the same inspector told me to move the pipes. I played his own voicemail back to him and he said he was sorry but pipes had to be moved.
      I could have fought them and won, but I didn’t have the time. It was faster to move the pipes.

I’m a real finisher, from digging it out, to grading, to laying vapor barrier, to the wire/rebar, to forming, to laying the mud through the whole process. I operated from walk behind to hydrostatic ride on machines. Man oh man how I’d love to live in Texas doing what I love! If you ever need another finisher please get ahold of me. If you want my contact info just reply to this message and I will email you with my info and answer any questions you may have. I would really love to live and work in Texas!

      I didn't do it because the reasoning behind it. On the other transformer I asked about adding another pipe and they said it was not a good idea, and it was dirt! Imagine adding another pipe in concrete! Nah, I happen to use common sense and they don't, so I poured it so that water would not go down in that hole and cause issues in the future.

    I've watched your install and don't think your "plan H" electricians did many commercial services nor utility connections. I've been doing commercial/industrial for 25 years. Sweeps and rigid nipples are their thing. Surprised you don't have a meter section between the main and gutter. The utility usually gets to say what kind of pipe is used between the pole and meter and the city/county gets to say after the meter. That might have been that sweep snafu. I hope that gutter doesn't stick out farther than the main disconnect either. We have never figured out which is slower, geologic time or utility time. I enjoy your videos and good luck with the business.
