Thank you. Great lesson. I have a question on slides. Can you use slides anywhere anytime, or are there certain strings and notes where you could incorporate a slide into a song.
@@tedsdogwalking the ones I show in my video are commonly used, but there are others. I may need to make a Part 2 to discuss when and where to use other types of slides. Musically speaking, you’re usually trying to slide into a “target” note that’s typically part of the melody of the song. Thanks for commenting.
@@BruceScottThrelkeld Thank you very much. I really enjoy your lessons. I find a lot of information on how to do a slide technically, but I can't really find anything on how to incorporate a slide into a song where it's not already tabbed out for me. Sometimes in practicing a song I hit the wrong fret and slide my finger to adjust the note. Sometimes it sounds good and I try to see how it works. I see a lot of similarities between a slide and bending a note on a harmonica. Sometimes you bend a half step before coming into a note to add some color to the playing.
@@tedsdogwalking Yes, that's true. There are similarities between a slide and a bend. That's a great point. And, I haven't made a video on bending, so I'll put that on the calendar! I'm planning on getting in to the practical application of bends, hammers, pulls and slides very soon, when I start a song series. Thanks for your input.
@@BruceScottThrelkeld Thank you. You have great videos. You understood my question better than I wrote it. Application. That is the word alright. I like to know not just how to do the skill but why and when.
Thanks Bruce
