    This is an excellent video for the fans of the DC-8 super 63.
    It is interesting to see how the 747 and DC-10 Tower over the DC-8 even though the DC-8 is a huge airplane.
    and what a clean take off, hardly any smoke.
    This is a great video 👍

    Brilliant! 👍🏻 In my days at LTN I fondly remember seeing Aer Turas operating various types over many years. DC-4, DC-7, Bristol Britannia, Canadair CL44J and this magnificent DC-8-63

    Ye ole greasy eight. Snap, crackle, pop...as little pieces of the fan bi-ducts go flying out the back... Thanks for the memories, Patrick.

      Was this really a common issue?

    • @davef.2329
      @davef.2329 Год назад +2

      @@jetstream454 Yes, esp. on long, heavy, max-effort takeoffs. The diverter vanes in the fan bi-ducts were of very thin aluminum and they would sometimes lose little pieces around the edges. I suppose the air may have been approaching trans-sonic speeds, or some such.

    Amongst many many aviation videos, on one is to explain how captains keep the nose wheel on taxi line!
