Debby Boone exemplifies class. Her intelligence, humility, faith and kindness shine through everything she does. It was an honor having her on our show.
I enjoyed this wonderful interview with Debby Boone, dear Harvey! I had the pleasure of hanging out with her at an event once and she was just like she is in your interview!! As always, your show is the best!!
Oh Alan how lucky you were to spend time with Debby. She’s a beautiful human being inside and out. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch this interview, and for caring enough to post your lovely comment. I greatly appreciate it
Glad you’ve discovered our show. I hope you will enjoy the interview and check out more great interviews. Please consider subscribing to our RUclips channel. It would mean the world to me 🙏❤️
As is mentioned, "You Light Up My Life" truly did go through the stratosphere when it was released in 1977, with Debby's perfect vocals instantly putting her on the map in style. I still find her definitive recording of "Life" very moving, and I also never tire of "Are You on the Road to Loving Me Again." Debby looks great here, and I want to know where to get that mug!
Wow, Debby, I didn't know you had such a history on stage as an actress! I knew you're a terrific singer and a wonderful person! Thank you again for giving me a CD copy of your tribute to your mother-in-law! Thank you, Harvey, whom I never knew anything about until I saw Debby's post on Facebook, which led me here.
10 years older than Debby, I am one who was very familiar with the name of Red Foley before he became her grandfather, i.e., before Pat Boone came to Los Angeles and huge fame, and fathered 4 beautiful daughters. My parents were big country music fans, and we were a Church of Christ family, which was also the Boone family heritage.
I must say the Harvey really did a fantastic job interviewing Debby Boone, I throughly enjoyed this interview, Harvey hit on every aspect of Debby’s long vast career, I am a huge Debby Boone fan, so I was so happy that Harvey once again hit a home run with his top notch skills as an interviewer and missed nothing in interviewing Debby!! Way to go Harvey!!!
So nice to see this interesting interview with Debby. Thank you for letting her answer so many questions. She is an amazing singer and lady. Please have her back again.
Thank you so much for watching! I hope you will check out our other great interviews and consider subscribing to our RUclips channel. It would mean the world to me. 🙏❤️
I remember buying the You Light Up My Life single when I was a kid. Debby is so thoughtful and well spoken. Wow. You do a very good interview and have well done your research which I'm sure your guests appreciate.
Thanks for pointing out my research. That’s what my guests appreciate most about being on my show. And my wonderfully supportive audience really appreciates it too. I’m so grateful
Great interview as always Harvey. Please let Debbie know that a guitar player called Leyland has a yt channel and he played on many of her recordings in the 1970s. He played some of her songs and praised her work and said she was a very nice person.
Thank you so much Debra for watching and for taking the time to post such a lovely and kind comment. I appreciate you so much more than I can ever say. ❤️❤️❤️
Love this interview. AS always you are so prepared and ask the right questions. I can tell Debby was quite impressed. I've had the pleasure of meeting Debby and she is every bit as nice as she is here. In fact she has a wonderful sense of humor. I met her father as well and he's a wonderful raconteur. He told me stories about his recording career that were quite fascinating. After she told me her story regarding her issues with a bad recording contract and how she was denied royalties for "You Light Up My Life" I too asked her why she didn't get advice from her dad. She told me she was an independent young person who felt she wanted to make her own decisions. Unfortunately the sharks in the music industry smelled blood and she was terribly taken advantage of. Live and learn as they say.
Such a great interview with Debby. I do wish though that the song "When You're Loved" was touched upon (unless I totally missed it) Debby sang it for the movie The Magic of Lassie and it was nominated for an Oscar for best song. Believe it or not, I actually like that song a bit more than You Light Up My Life and I've never really heard her talk much about it. Pat also recorded a song for that movie as well
Another great interview Harvey! I'm rooting for that autobiography by Debby also. I've been a fan of hers since "You Light Up My Life" - 10 weeks at number 1 back then was such an achievement! Debby and Olivia Newton-John ("Physical") have, respectively, the number 1 hits of the 70s and 80s!
I'd luv for you to interview MAUREEN MCCORMICK. I loved her as Marcia Brady aka THE BRADY BUNCH and wanted to be her growing up. But she got very real in her book HERE'S THE STORY.
He is so mocked with people making disparaging comments about him now, but I have absolutely loved Pat Boone. In 1967 as the Watts riots burned in Los Angeles, I was on summer vacation from school watching April Love play over & over again on channel 9's Million Dollar Movie. I absolutely fell in love with Pat & Shirley Jones in what has got to be one of the sweetest, most gentle t love stories ever told. HA!, critics. I love you AL I can't imagine coctacting a celebrity now, but in 1968 when my older brother died of brain cancer I wrote Pat Boone a letter to the fact and he answered very kindly. I REALLY can't imagine doing this now but when I was a teenagter and got my driver's license I bought a map to the stars homes and ended up in front of Pat's house on Beverly Dr, (I think) where the maid said Pat would come out and talk to me and a few friends. Out he came in summer shorts (amazing solid legs!) and there we were at curb side. Imagine imposing on someone in knocking on their front door! Ah, youth. I do have light blonde hair, blue eyes, and an innocent face, the point being I think I got away with a lot of stuff because I was non threatening to people. Debby Boone, Laurie Boone and the rest, what a wonderful father you have. I wish he were mine!
Debby Boone exemplifies class. Her intelligence, humility, faith and kindness shine through everything she does. It was an honor having her on our show.
Debby looks great. She doesn't age, just like her Dad.
Yes she’s so beautiful and youthful. Thanks so much for watching
10 weeks @ number 1 in 1977. You light up my life.
Yes. That’s what I said in the intro. Hope you enjoyed the interview
#1 hit of the 1970's as well.
What did you think of the interview?
are you saying just one hit? hence one hit wonder?
She was definitely not a one-hit wonder. My introduction makes that clear.
I enjoyed this wonderful interview with Debby Boone, dear Harvey! I had the pleasure of hanging out with her at an event once and she was just like she is in your interview!! As always, your show is the best!!

In the late 70's, in 7th grade my class sang " You Light Up My Life". Memories.

Pat Boone: You Light Up My Life!
I hope you watch my interview with Pat Boone. He’s become a very dear friend.
I never knew Debbie acted.
She has a new movie coming out directed by Shane Stanley
The writer of the song is dead and cannot defend himself and you decided to trash him. How Christian of you. Forgiveness. etc
Oh please. Just because he died doesn’t mean she can’t speak her truth.
I love Are you on the road to loving me again
Love that song too
