That is one great looking and sounding Mopar! You gotta love these old trucks... they always bring out the kid in me! These were the trucks that set the standard for the performance pick-ups that followed such as the Silverado SS454, Ford SVT Lightning and of course the Dodge Ram SRT-10! If you can't Dodge it then just Ram it!!! =D

I loved these and the warlocks as a kid. I always bought these as plastic model kits.

LOVE these trucks. My grandpa has one that he has only driven it about 40 miles in the last 15 years. In the process of restoring it now. He told me a few days ago that its my 16th birthday present! SO happy! But his has red interior instead of black. not too much stock on it but the stock 360, and stock stacks. i guess everything is stock except for the carpet! lol. nice truck man.. these are amazing!

No I installed that aftermarket tach to cover a hole the previous owner put in the dash. It works and looks great though. The factory tach option was on the right side of the dash.

@justforever96 Trucks back then could get away without having catalytic converters because they were considered work trucks. This was changed in the 1980s. That was the loop hole in the system so most trucks were not manufactured with catalytic converters. Look it up if you want to.

He's off. The 78 LRE were catless the 79 came with cats. PCV was law approx. 10 years prior. What people forget is the original 426Hemi engineers that also designed ALL of the MaxWedge &Hemi SuperStockers were retirement age.The LRE was their last project. Each engineer contributed a signature detail piece to the LRE trim. The small block hot rod parts they had worked on to be sold thru DirectConnection for these trucks was axed by management. The LRE was meant to be their performance swan song

@justforever96 Even today apparently trucks are not as heavily regulated with emissions as cars. Problems with cats is they rob your engine of horse power.

No, they don't have the tonneau cover on the bed. Not sure why, since that was stock on most trucks.

@Ratkill9000 I'm pretty sure that most vehicles had plenty of "emissions bullshit" in 1978. They started that crap in like '71. The Lil Red Express was the exception, not the norm. Although I'm not sure how they got away with it; something to do with being allowed to make "minor modifications" to an already certified engine without having to re-certify it. I think Dodge bent the rules a little to make this thing.

Isn't it better to keep the engine in the truck and just warm it up using block heater and drive it for about 30 miles on weekend. Unless you live in very cold area and have no intention of using it much, I am not sure why you're keeping the engine out of the vehicle.
Are you properly storing the rest of the truck? More vehicles are damage from improper storage than from driving.

@Ratkill9000 Interesting. I didn't know that. How about PCV and all that stuff? I wonder if not needed a cat is why trucks became so popular during the 70's...they were less restricted than cars were.
