If celebrities are going to come out and lecture us, it should be like this - something they actually know about. I can appreciate Brooke for sharing this. I respect her for being so strong and forthright and sharing all aspects of her horrible accident. I will keep her in my prayers and will always be grateful.
My mom broke her hip at 96, the Doctor pinned it thinking she was to old for a replacement. It started slipping and she had a full hip replacement at 97. They had put a stabilizing rod down the outside of her leg, she did great. A year and a half later she fell, because she was walking without her walker. This time she broke her femur between the rod and her knee . Her surgeon operated on her for almost 5 hours. He said he used a plate on one side and cable to hold the bones together. We put her in an extended care facility and she could not put any weight on that leg for 95 days. 5 days later she came home and used her walker. She passed last August 30, she would have been 101 in November. She never cried over what happened to her, she said what do I need to do. That’s a strong lady, I got to call mom.🙏❤️
Such an unscripted and candid glimpse into Brooke's life after her terrible injury. She seems so relatable, down-to-earth and unaffected, like she's looking in the camera and speaking to a close friend.... She is absolutely gorgeous and her beauty seems effortless! Lovely family, too. Keep it up, Brooke! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Absolutely, in all sense of your words. Just look at what she went through from childhood through to adulthood. Also, I think she married a wonderful man who has supported her with his love and devotion, and together they've been able to build a calm, stable family for their children - that is a massive achievement in my estimation! I'm a big fan - so happy for her & her family!
God bless you for sharing your story. You will get there with the love of family and friends and fans. Always make time for you, even your little pity party, releasing that stuff helps you get to the important work ahead! Best wishes to you! 🦮🐕🦺🐾🥰lady di
One morning , my tour bus was parked behind Brooke's limo. I saw her come out of the hotel and look up at the beautiful Hawaiian morning with wonder in her eyes. She got into her car, looked out the back window and gave me a little wave & smile. Made my day !
Oh, that says a lot! I think Brooke Shields is a good person! I would love that to happen to me with her! Also would love having Mark Wahlberg wave to me also! Love him also!
I admire you for sharing your story,, thank you. Diatomaceous earth food grade is rich in silica, bones are made of more silica than calcium & calcium can't be assimilated if there isn't enough silica, I take 2 tablespoons daily in water, taste chalky, but okay, I sometimes mix in juice or green smoothies:). A diet nutrient rich to promote bone strength is a must. I also drink Green smoothies to get strong bones! Green smoothies:) Recipes; carrot 🥕 Green apple 🍏 celery Kale Parsley spinach 5 almonds water and/or pineapple 🍍 juice Blend together adding enough water to your desired preference, I take this daily, I love it & helps me improve my bone strength. Warm regards, Kayla
It wasn't mentioned in the video, but as a vegan, her diet is deficient in animal protein, nutrients and fat which would help build strong bones. I think the amount of damage and hard recovery may be for that reason.
I think she deserves to scream and cry all she wants after what has occurred. That's all part of courage and inner strength. She has my greatest empathy and admiration. Wishing her the best during her therapy and a speedy complete recovery.
This lovely lady always talks with so much Grace. Even her first driver talks about how sweet Brooke is in person. Wishing her all the healthy best possible wishes in the world and anyone else out there needing it right now!
I just broke my leg too. Still in a wheel chair so I'm with you. Hospital, surgery, rod from hip to knee. The whole nine yards. We can do this. Hoping to be walking by July. Best wishes Brooke!
First time ever commenting ! I broke 3 bones in my foot along with 4 broken ribs. I was maintaining biking with my son. I went off a drop I didnt know was there. I was non weight bearing for 2 1/2 months in a wheelchair. I was off 4 months from work. I'm a Hospice nurse. I'm now back to work 3 months still trying to walk without a limp. I called my feeling sorry for myself as swirling the toilet. All you can do is look up... God is so good ! You will do this you are stronger than you know and an inspiration to others.
As a person who lives with chronic pain, I have a pro tip: when the pain is so gigh you feel like passing out, go with it. Lean in to that. You'll feel better when you come to.
Check out the RUclips channel institute of neurological recovery offices in LA and FL. Amazing recoveries from stroke and alzheimer's and any type of head trauma.
My response to intense pain is to pass out. I've always thought it a benefit given that I have chronic pain. When the pain starts getting bad, I crawl into bed so I'm lying down when I pass out.
@@IExpectedBSJustNotThisMuchBS Totally agree 💯‼️ My problem is the intense pain will sometimes make me throw up first😝 I'm always scared of having both vomiting and passing out at the same time. Especially when you're home alone.
I think it's good for teens to see their parents struggle. This teaches them how to overcome difficulty and adversity and how to keep going through hard things. It also teaches them it's okay to struggle. It teaches them their parents are strong.
Compelling story. That “poor me” pouty attitude is called GRIEF. Going through trauma is shocking to the entire system. Allow yourself to take a minute (or days) to process. It doesn’t mean you won’t get going again. Sending Brooke all the best in her healing and recovery. Been a fan since we were both teens.
Thank you Susan for your post...was just having this conversation about "poor me" behavior and it's connection to Grief. Sometimes the body goes for years and doesn't know Grief is hiding in the system. My experience is pouty people are suffering, but they can't pinpoint or recognize the Grief. (I can't imagine breaking the femur, the most painful break to experience.) Thanks again Susan. XOXO
I wish I had a prosthetic. I lost use of a leg but it's still attached and holds me back. At least with a prosthetic you can learn to walk again. I'm stuck as a cripple for the rest of my life. Sucks finding your life turned upside down at 29.
@@Annie-er7ep I’m very sorry about your situation. Can you get your leg amputated? I knew a friend who had something similar as you and his leg just made him experience so much horrible pain. He realized years later that he should have had it amputated.
I have been following Brooke's story. On Feb 6th, I was in a serious car accident, breaking my right leg femur, right foot heel, right arm ulna & radius bones. Breaking your femur HURTS! Keep your chin up; I've had moments too of negativity. Then, like you said, I hate to lose, so I'm choosing positivity. I wish you the best, Brooke, speedy recovery!
This is amazing how God leads you to others having what you have and Giving encouragement to go on. I don't remember.ever crying like this ever. Maybe this is releasing all pains held i From past. And a test of faith. Prayers for you .and God bless.
My father was in a car accident with major injuries in the same area. A terribly painful and intricate area to be injured in. My heart goes out to you. I saw the pain he went through, but like you, he took a positive attitude and soldiered on. Also like you, he got tired of being strong now and then but always bounced back quickly. Whenever he was asked how he felt he responded with “Can’t hurt steel” and a smile. You are proving that you truly are steel. Hang in there lovely lady, you can do this.
How did I not hear about this? What a beautiful human inside and out. Stay strong pretty lady. 💕 keep sharing and teaching us. We can all learn so much from one another.
You’re right. I don’t usually watch this type of video but I had a feeling Brooke wouldn’t be ‘Woe is me!’ in it..and she wasn’t! It seems ,by her own words, she had great family help not to. 😊
Back in the early 90s, a former coworker of mine told me that she used to work at a bank, and Brooke Shields was scheduled to come and do a promo. She expected Brooke to be a terrible diva, and was very surprised at how nice she was. I've heard that due to the environment, celebrities have to be stand-offish in LA, but can relax a bit in NY because of our tendencies to take things in stride. Before COVID, Robert Redford could jog through Central Park without people bothering him, and Keanu Reeves could ride the subway.
Sorry I'm on a soapbox...all my life I have had issues with movement. I have many bone diseases and walking & just getting around is painful. So many able bodied people have lectured me " you need to exercise". I've tried to explain how painful exercise is for me. Now someone that could exercise sees how so many of live day to day in pain. Please be compassionate to those of us that can't move well. BTW, you would not know I am disabled other than a slight limp. Brooke, I wish you a speedy recovery.
I understand the pain you have as a family member has the same type of pain, degenerative condition. The only thing that seems to help is aleve or advil, heated compresses from the microwave and a heated pool. People in general dont understand people in pain. I do and Im very sorry to hear about your pain. May God keep you and keep his eye upon you. May you have less pain and find the right medication/remedies.
Yep I was just saying this to my physio therapist last week - I used to be that bitch who told people "just push through it"... Yeah... Now I have auto immune and degenerative issues, there's no pushing through anything, what used to be a simple walk to the shops can put me in bed for days... I once spent 3.5 months bedridden - in my other life I was so active, so fit - even up to the day before having my babies I'd be out hiking.
After having a totally unexpected stroke I so understand the feeling of no longer toughing my way through anything like I used to. I haven’t minded the huge amount of PT and OT and work, but having a permanent limit to my physical strength has been a big adjustment! Through many setbacks I have to never give up, and Jesus has helped me choose over and over to never live in fear. You are a strong, lovely woman and I’ll pray for you as you journey back to health again.
Right, you're my inspiration. That fear can really have one in its grip. I await 2 hip and 2 knee replacements, but I've become a tad fearful of the pain I'm now experiencing ‐ which is new for me, as I've had many other past obstacles. So you and Ms Shields are my inspiration for my next journeys. God bless you.
I think that it is really diffiuclt for many people to get, that as we age, we have to be very mindful of what we are doing. By turning away for that fraction of a second can be deadly. Over 50, please make sure to remain in the moment. A 50 year old body is not a 20 year old body. We must be carefu.. Because she is basically so healthy is why she survived this ordeal.
So true! As I am teaching yoga I remind my students to be mindful of their body, if their body is telling them something is not right or it is causing them any pain don't do it. Most of my students are 50 plus.
I hate to say it but it is so true...from 50 to 55 I was fine and was wondering why people complained about being in their 50s and then 56 hit and for some reason my body felt like it wanted to slow down...ugh! But aging happens to everyone...regardless of how one tries to fight it with exercise, yoga, the right foods...it still happens. Super big sigh!
@@mallorygraf8574 so true but we can delay it as much as possible. I find that yoga really helps to keep flexibility, balance, strength, posture, peace of mind and coordination. There are varying degrees of yoga, almost everyone can at least do chair yoga. Blessings, Indira
Oh my gosh...I just got chills! Hearing Brooke describe that initial pain took me back ten years to the day I broke my tib fib. It was so excruciating. Unfortunately that injury and the surgeries that followed unlocked a long painful battle for me that led to a 7 year addiction to opiates. By the grace of God 3 years ago I made a choice to stop the chaos and pain. I overcame that addiction and regained my life back. I still have pain and limited ability in my left leg but I work on that daily with physical therapy and walking.
Brenda, you touched on something not often acknowledged. There is a dark side to recovery and I’m so happy for you. We have seen too many succumb to addiction. Blessings
There comes a time as we age where we have to accept the risk that certain things can cause that isn’t worth it. I climbed over a gate with my grandson and the tip of my foot caught the gate and I fell midair on my knee. I had to save my grandson in my arms instead of save my fall. I tore out my PCL 100% and it will never be back. I had to go through a lot of physical therapy and strength training. It will be an ongoing battle. At one point I couldn’t walk, then was crippled then I was able to correct it and now I’m walking. I’m so thankful.
@@TheBrownIsland of course but most young people heal very well. When you get to fifty and up not so much. For example my injury isn’t recommended to have surgery yet if you’re young they would.
@@76helpingdogs it’s funny I don’t consider it a sacrifice. I take care of him and it wasn’t even a thought. My family helped me tremendously. Do you know I had him in my arms sat and giggled a bit so he wasn’t scared then proceeded to carry him upstairs to put down for his nap. Adrenaline I guess. Thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh, Brooke, did it to.Your fall description matched mine..I fractured it higher so it was a fractured hip. I am an ICU RN so I take care of this , I don't do this...oh I identified with the walker, the stairs. I am 8 weeks out. Threw my cane away today..Brooke, you had complication after complication. Should not have happened. You are a strong, centered, determined person...You are inspiring in this video...may you complete recovery be swift and I hope your dancing shoes are near..God bless you
I find her perspective fascinating. I broke my leg at the age of 31. The pain was horrible. I won't go into detail but could only get off the couch once a day to go to the restroom. The cast was from my foot to the top of my thigh. After weeks as the cast was slowly cut down and I could bend my knee and sit in a wheelchair I was so greatful. The sheer joy of being able to wheel myself around and wash dishes & care for my family as limited as it was, was wonderful. I was so thankful and actually decided that if I had to spend the rest of my life in a wheel chair i'd be ok. Anything was better than just laying there weeks on end. I had no physical therapy and when the final cast was removed 7 months later I walked out of the Drs. office. I never worried about walking, limping or dancing again. Very interesting.
Wow,this brings back memories when my wife had the same injury, thank God she didn’t have any complications from the surgery,I’m glad Brooke is feeling better, thank God❤️🙏
I didn’t even know she got hurt. I didn’t hear anything in the news about her. I really like Brooke. We are the same age and I grew up along with her. When she did “Nothing Comes between me and my Calvins”, I had to get a pair. Get well Brooke.
Right?! I heard about Ashley Judd's jungle mishap. Maybe that was much more entertaining?? This is just as horrible, only in a developed country version. 3 surgeries, hell no! Poor ladies :(
You deserve to have your moments. You are human. Thank you for sharing your vulnerability. It shows how strong and beautiful you are You went through quite an ordeal. Prayers for your continued recovery. ❤️🙏
Adversity reveals character....wow, that's a good one. You're apparently a woman of fine character, perserverance and positivity! God bless you in your healing journey and thanx for sharing your story. Many people are praying for a speedy and complete recovery....including me!
I've been loving her since she came into focus with the lens of a camera... her composure, smile, intelligence, humor and of course beauty. I'm saddened by this setback, praying that she heals inside and out! God bless you dear!
Hey, Somebody needed to sell something ... Oh, I know ... let's package this crazy dangerous thing that -- in the work place, OSHA would ban in a heartbeat -- and market it to folks who want to get fit. They've got money for gyms, so we KNOW they've got money for "gizmos" ... Gotta give her credit for guts for even considering such a device, HOWEVER ... !!!
@@rosemarykriegel3226 Even something so seemingly "safe" could tear ligaments (tendons? whatever!) in your ankles if you landed wrong. Walking will improve balance if you do enough of it, but, hey, after 2 falls due to the stupidity of others, I've grown too cautious to be any fun any more! ☹️😣😩😫
I broke my femur also and had the same feelings you did - to a 't'! No one can describe or know the pain unless you have had the same situation. Had plate and screws put in to repair the damage. Never thought I would walk again or thought I would definitely be walking with a limp. Determination and sticking with my PT helped me make the miracle recovery. Not an easy road for sure. That was in 2009 when I was 62 - I am now 74 and there is nothing that can stop me! God Bless you.
I have cracked my femur too. Very same part - so weird. It took over a year for it to totally heal! And it was not a huge break - it was scary! Be careful after 50, people.
After my fall I read one older person goes to the ER with a fall every 14 seconds. I had darling Men from first aid absolute darling young man in the ambulence... The care you get from strangers is so helpful. You feel cherished even though you will never see them again. But you always feel so stupid that you fell. The day before I was saying how strong I felt even with fibromyalgis arthrtis, bone on bone knees horrile spine issues. Pride before fall. I knew while using walker the z sandles were catching and I still wore them at the Y. Pay attention to those little warnings. If a pair of shoes is a problem ditch them. Shoes at Good Will as well as new bathing suits and new exercise item. Pay attention to what your body tells you.
My heart goes out to Brooke Shields. She shows great courage in the way she is handling this accident and the set backs she’s had. I hope she has a full recovery.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. is my favorite verse that helped me get through grueling but necessary physical therapy. Read Psalm 62 as well Brooke. Keeping you in prayer.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@SUGAR_XYLER Not talking religion here, but relationship. Everyone needs that, especially relationship with with the One who knitted her together in her mama’s womb! As someone who is losing mobility due to a degenerative condition, I love seeing you model with assisted devices. I was devastated when I had to start using aids to help me with mobility. They are practically shunned in society. You embrace them and your presence shines beauty on them.
What a horrible accident, I can't imagine waking up from surgery only to have to be taken back to re fix the same injury. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.🙏
Hang in there. I'm 71, at your age I was loosing the use of my legs, 5 minutes to get to a bathroom from my bed. Today I can play soccer, on my indoor bike right now.
@girlinjax I asked my friend to drive me to a sports store and I bought a Cross Trainer exercising machine. I took 4 extra strength Tylenol and did two minutes of exercise at first. Then I continued to exercise and day by day it all got better. Except for the crosstrainer which I broke but now I use a rowing machine, bicycle and light weights. Start walking, climbing stairs etc.
@@James-ke5sx Thank you for sharing your story and giving me hope! Can I ask you why you were having trouble walking before you started the exercise program? I am having the same trouble walking, but I did it to myself by inactivity during the covid pandemic which is the worst thing for people who have Rheumatoid arthritis. I need to start some type of exercise program asap.
@@dogloverrn8 Same problem as you. Inactivity, my mother had rheumatoid arthritis and my daughter has arthritis as well. Over the years my knees seem to lock up if I don't exercise so I cycle on a bicycle. During covid-19 lockdown I have an indoor bike and 20 minutes 3 times a week and my legs are great I feel good again. Cycling is great for legs because it causes circulation and you don't pound on your joints like you do with jogging. Plus with an indoor bike you can sit and watch your favourite movie or TV show which is what I do. I have a cousin who is one year older and is having great difficulty walking but he has a hard head. I tried to tell him to get an indoor bike they're not expensive otherwise it's either two wheels on a bicycle or you end up with four wheels in a wheelchair you can take your pick
We can FEEL so STRONG like we were in teens, 20's & even mid-30's. The truth about how our bones age...is that after age 40/45..bones become more fragile...falls when you are maybe age 45- beyond are terribly long to recover from ...to heal...and to be somewhat strong afterward. This experience may just be what any of us needs to properly care for our bodies.
Been going through 2 months of rehab for knee injury - everything Booke said sooo familiar. Have 2 teenagers helping as I struggle to walk again. Thank you for sharing, feel less alone in this struggle.
@S Suwandi Yes, “girl.” When I was a girl she was also a girl. Hence, why I referred to her as a girl. Bad day, bubs? Or just an overall nasty person? Most people go about life trying to shine light as they go about the day. You, on the other hand.. are functioning with bitterness. Who is the person that really should he criticized. Me or you?
@S Suwandi I just re-read what you said again. I also noticed that you have very low self-esteem, but you hide this from others and yourself by trying to minimize them. You attempted this by referring to me as, “kiddo.” First, I want to thank you for the compliment. Second, although your attempt to try and make me feel smaller by using a minimizing word, it did not have that affect on me. Quit the opposite, in fact. I immediately knew this has been a coping mechanism for you all of your life. Sadly, this type of minimization was used on you throughout your life and it worked. It worked so well that you decided to employ this on others. The problem with this approach is that the boomerang always come back. Not only that, but you never truly learn to heal from your wounds. Instead, you take that pain and momentarily feel such strength when you load your weapon and release it on unsuspecting people. It feels so good to just lash out and hope the person feels even for a moment the way you feel. If you grow emotionally or get therapy to cope with your pain, you’ll discover that every time you lashed out, you were also being stung. You see, we cannot escape karma. The energy you put out, the universe turns it rack back to you in a multitude of ways. If you want to live a blessed and happy life, first and foremost, be the blessing in others lives and spread love. I hope one day my message finally resonates with you. If not, that’s ok too.
Brooke, I'm so sorry for all you've been through. Remember, you can do this; you will heal. Thank you for being you and helping so many. You are a real hero without a cape.
I had a hip replacement due to what doctors called osteonecrosis. After the surgery just learning to walk, nobody can understand except people that have gone through it. Six months later struggled to walk up stairs, now 5 years later I am getting back to something normal. I was 55 at the time, and can't even imagine people in their 80s going through this. Good luck Brook.
Kudos to Brooke! She seems so relatable and down to earth. What a strong lady. She will overcome this, and be stronger as a result💪🏼❤️🙏😌. Keep us updated please, we are here for you...
Thank you for sharing your struggles and so wonderful to see your honesty in going through such a terrible ordeal! What does not break you only makes you stronger and more grateful and appreciative of what we have! These lessons in life definitely change us for the better!
She’s going through hell! I flew up in the air, shattered my knee and everything below it in December 2019. 18 months later, I still can’t walk normal. I can go down steps without panic but I have to watch every move I make. Good luck Brooke
OMG! I have chronic back pain and pain induced anxiety is HORRIBLE! My husband broke both his TIB and FIB in right leg in 2018 and I understood everything he went through and what you’re going through, pain and all! Hope you’re doing better now!
OMG, I didnt know this had happened. Praying for Brooke. She'll be ok. I did a fall on my wrist, broken & multiple dislocations. Know this was painful. But since she's fit & strong, recovery will likely be successful. Just don't have outlook of 'what if?' Fully expect you will do it.
I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this Brooke. Your strength is an inspiration to us. May God continue bless you and watch over you and your family.
My husband and I always say “are ya done?” If one of us is being salty. We don’t argue, if one gets mad we just don’t talk until we’re calm and say are ya done?
My mom sends her love Brooke. She understands how you feel. On Christmas 2017 my mom broke her femur during a bad fall. My 70 yr old mother had intensive pt to walk again. My mom says if she can do it, you can too!!!! Blessings Brooke! She sends you a huge gentle hug
Thank you so much for your story...I broke my wrist and am in the beginning of pt and healing. Your words have given me strength and the ability to stop feeling sorry for myself. God bless you.
Character revealing for sure! Even though your teens are acting like typical teens- they will always remember your tenacity! You never know who you're influencing with the behavior you choose. ✌️❤️
I absolutely loved this interview. Brooke has ALL the advantages of a wealthy woman in a country that has advanced medical capabilities. Yet, she faced the SAME fears that we would ALL face in this situation. Her courage, humility to ACTUALLY tell it like it happened and what she was feeling, inspires ME to be more confident and to put MY priorities in perspective order. Thank you for sharing this - thank you for being kind and honest.
I just came across this. Cannot imagine what she went through. I had hip surgery for a fractured hip then went home and got a hematoma and then back to hospital with a deep infection and then another hip surgery again. All in two weeks. I wish her the best and how nice of her to share her story. Lovely lady.
We’re all experiencing some version of this story where we really have to re-examine our lives and our ideas of strength and patience and resilience. Thank you for sharing and all best wishes . May your recovery bring you the unexpected gift of ease. 🙏💕🌷
I’m sorry this happened to you. You are entitled to have moments of anger, sadness, poor, poor me. Allow it to happen, feel it then move ahead til it comes up again. Thank you for being so open about how you feel as this shows others that it’s ok.💜
I’m so sorry this happened to you, Brook. You are such a good and genuine person. Thank you for sharing your struggle so that others can learn and be encouraged by you. God bless.
My husband (ex, soon hopefully) broke my leg in February. It makes life so difficult. You take for granted what the ability of our legs do in our lives. I've now got no home, no pets, no car, not sure where my life will head, etc. What I do have is my life! I'm pushing through being more grateful for the things I do have; family and love. It's difficult at times, relieving at times, confidence building...all the things we feel that make us a better person. Thank you for sharing your journey. I wish you all the best. 💙🌻
The ‘poor me’ lament is a normal part of recovery, I think, but it’s hard when you know you had an accident all by yourself. You feel foolish and want to wind back the clock, but you can’t, so you have to look forward. Brooke describes it well ...and then how to be hope-filled. 🇳🇿🇳🇿🐑🐑
We all deserve a good cry. Got to just let it out. That’s how you pick yourself up. I’m glad Brooke has shared her struggles and strength through the years. I’m her age and have always admired her. I will keep her in my prayers for continued recovery.
Oh honey, this is so hard to hear. Stay strong sweetie. I guess we really have to believe there’s a purpose for everything, and although it may seem horrible at the time, we have to trust there’s a reason. Hugs. ❤️
I've always been a brooke fan, 8 years older, like a lil sis I never had. I followed her a best i could back in the 70's 80's. I now have the same exact hardware in my leg. My husband had open heart surgery. Knowing the next morning he was out of surgery and danger, I tripped my way over a dog toy, face planted into my carpeted floor. I've never been able to move the same since. Severed my femur as did Brooke, but did not break it. I NEED my strength back. I need to follow Brooke's recovery, she's the perfect mentor for me! #brookeshieldsjourney
It’s amazing how little it takes to take you down. I did something similar with my knee. It was repaired badly. And I hopped around for thirty years until I got the total knee replacement. It was awesome from the first day. So you aren’t alone in your suffering. Keep it up you are doing great. After the original bad repair I was in constant therapy for 30 years. Once the total knee went in basic therapy was all I needed. I’m praying for your recovery. You are strong, but even the toughest has a soft side. Allowing the poor me acknowledgment, cause that’s is part of your recovery. Allowing yourself the time needed to heal inside and out. Little baby steps I called it.
Ugh, I shuddered & cringed so hard when she was describing the accident! There's nothing money & fame can do to save you from that horrible pain in that moment. She's still very fortunate though, she'll be fine.
OMG I had a very bad break at the top of my tibia. I went from a wheelchair to a Walker to crutches to a cane. At some point soon I will need a knee replacement. The injury was so hard to recover from. I can so relate to her story
Oh my God,...just saw this now... I just want to send my prayers for a speedy recovery. Long ago, I was so fortunate to give her a series of massage therapy. I was very moved to see her warmth, her gentleness but knew how very strong this soul is. I still remember this day when she asked me if my tiny cab could drop her few blocks from her place, the eyes of the cab driver still makes me smile...wishing beautiful Brooke the very best xxx
I have experienced that pain. The tip of the ball joint of my right hip completely disintegrated. Then it got infected and I had to have the surgery repeated two more times within the same twelve months. All in so much pain. Now I look like I have a bicycle cable and a saw blade holding my right femur together. 13 years later though I have minimal residual effects. Praise God. God bless you as you work through this total recovery. It really takes a long time. So much bone and soft tissue healing that needs to happen.

She was an amazing tough woman!
I'm sorry for your loss.
You come from strong stock❣
Im so sorry to hear about your dear mothers passing. She sounds like a very brave woman. God bless you.
Wow. What a story. No What a woman! You must be so proud of her and her spirit. Wishing you all the best and thanks for sharing that.
What a beautiful woman to have as an example!
I am so glad she could share her feelings with us. She is a very generous, down to earth and a lovely human being
Absolutely, in all sense of your words. Just look at what she went through from childhood through to adulthood. Also, I think she married a wonderful man who has supported her with his love and devotion, and together they've been able to build a calm, stable family for their children - that is a massive achievement in my estimation! I'm a big fan - so happy for her & her family!
yeah, she seems pretty cool!
God bless you for sharing your story. You will get there with the love of family and friends and fans. Always make time for you, even your little pity party, releasing that stuff helps you get to the important work ahead! Best wishes to you! 🦮🐕🦺🐾🥰lady di
I’m 49 years old and have always admired Brooke. She seems like such a nice, down to earth & kind person. I wish her a full recovery. In my prayers.
One morning , my tour bus was parked behind Brooke's limo. I saw her come out of the hotel and look up at the beautiful Hawaiian morning with wonder in her eyes. She got into her car, looked out the back window and gave me a little wave & smile. Made my day !
Thank you for sharing that story :)
Oh, that says a lot! I think Brooke Shields is a good person! I would love that to happen to me with her! Also would love having Mark Wahlberg wave to me also! Love him also!
My impression of her has always been that she’s an absolute sweetheart. Thanks for sharing your story
Brooke is Just a woman a human being everything else is an illusion
I admire you for sharing your story,, thank you. Diatomaceous earth food grade is rich in silica, bones are made of more silica than calcium & calcium can't be assimilated if there isn't enough silica, I take 2 tablespoons daily in water, taste chalky, but okay, I sometimes mix in juice or green smoothies:).
A diet nutrient rich to promote bone strength is a must. I also drink Green smoothies to get strong bones!
Green smoothies:) Recipes;
carrot 🥕
Green apple 🍏
celery
Kale
Parsley
spinach
5 almonds
water and/or pineapple 🍍 juice
Blend together adding enough water to your desired preference,
I take this daily, I love it & helps me improve my bone strength.
Warm regards,

Omg poor Brooke. She hasn’t had an easy life but she’s always been so positive. Smart and classy and beautiful.
AGREE 💯
Agree...she is human!🙏
She needs to act her age, she's old now
Yes! Absolutely!
Crying should never be called weakness
I admire Brook Shields even more now. Praying for her recovery.
This lovely lady always talks with so much Grace. Even her first driver talks about how sweet Brooke is in person. Wishing her all the healthy best possible wishes in the world and anyone else out there needing it right now!
Praying healing, comfort and quick recovery for Brooke Shields.
I just broke my leg too. Still in a wheel chair so I'm with you. Hospital, surgery, rod from hip to knee. The whole nine yards. We can do this. Hoping to be walking by July. Best wishes Brooke!
I wish you well !!!
Im so sorry you had to go through this. I send you my best wishes for healing and a full recovery. May you walk again and be healed.
Praying for you for a speedy and complete recovery. God bless
Hope you and Brooke get better soon !!

I get so depressed that I cry and sometimes I feel better after. I think it’s better to cry than not to.
YES!! CRPS/RSD SINCE THE 2ND GRADE & I AM NOW 42.
My response to intense pain is to pass out. I've always thought it a benefit given that I have chronic pain. When the pain starts getting bad, I crawl into bed so I'm lying down when I pass out.
@@IExpectedBSJustNotThisMuchBS
Totally agree 💯‼️
My problem is the intense pain will sometimes make me throw up first😝 I'm always scared of having both vomiting and passing out at the same time. Especially when you're home alone.
she has always seemed like such a genuinely good person even in the extreme of her fame. nothing but good wishes for her.
She's been such an inspiration to my generation for so long, and she continues to be. Hang in there, girl.
I think it's good for teens to see their parents struggle. This teaches them how to overcome difficulty and adversity and how to keep going through hard things. It also teaches them it's okay to struggle. It teaches them their parents are strong.
I also think it doesn't hurt them to help their struggling parent....it teachers them compassion, patience and understanding.
XOXO
She sure has earned the right to grieve
i lost my leg, was in hospital three months. glad she’s able to walk again. it’s hard with a prosthetic.
God Bless You for the courage and strength you must have to have survived that again I say GOD BLESS AND BE WITH YOU.👩🏻🦳🙏🏼✝️🇺🇸
I wish I had a prosthetic.
I am sorry that happened to you. I hope you have great insurance and a town full of people for support!!!
Best wishes to you! :)
You have the best outlook Charissa. Stay brave.
This is amazing how God leads you to others having what you have and
Giving encouragement to go on.
I don't remember.ever crying like this ever.

@@judyivie4181, no, but I understand why.
Thank you all for your kind words ❤
Your so strong
Just seems like one of the nicest most unspoiled people ever.
You’re right. I don’t usually watch this type of video but I had a feeling Brooke wouldn’t be ‘Woe is me!’ in it..and she wasn’t! It seems ,by her own words, she had great family help not to. 😊
She’s a gem
So humble.
So true. She is actually underrated. I love her
Sorry I'm on a soapbox...all my life I have had issues with movement.
I feel for you. I have multiple sclerosis and exercising has put me in the bed for days with extreme pain.
I can so relate. I have been in chronic pain for 16 years. God Bless 🙏❤️

Exactly , no sudden movements without looking where you're going. ( from a 71 yr. old who tripped on a 1 inch curb )

Congratulations, Brenda. You are an overcomer. God bless.
Brenda, you touched on something not often acknowledged. There is a dark side to recovery and I’m so happy for you. We have seen too many succumb to addiction. Blessings
So sorry this happened but also so impressed at your strength.
These injuries happen to very young people as well.
@@TheBrownIsland of course but most young people heal very well. When you get to fifty and up not so much. For example my injury isn’t recommended to have surgery yet if you’re young they would.
Oh my , what a nightmare!

@@76helpingdogs it’s funny I don’t consider it a sacrifice. I take care of him and it wasn’t even a thought. My family helped me tremendously.

Covid-19 took all the news and the hundreds of deaths from it.

Note to my 56yr old self: NEVER get on that balancing gizmo nor any fad gadget to workout. For balance I practice yoga poses. Get well Brook!!
I’m 35 but I have a connective tissue disorder and I’m never getting on one of those. I would dislocate or tear something
I use a trampoline for balance memory.
My 48 year old self has been contemplating a trampoline or balance board. This has changed my mind.......
So right about adversity revealing character, instead of building it.

This is a valuable life lesson, you will learn what's important and what isn't,I'm sorry you had to go through it,sending love to you from Ireland 💜🇮🇪💜
Been going through 2 months of rehab for knee injury - everything Booke said sooo familiar. Have 2 teenagers helping as I struggle to walk again. Thank you for sharing, feel less alone in this struggle.
Brooke Shields.. the girl so many of us grew up wanting to be and it wasn’t just because of her beauty.
Amen - was about to say the same thing:))
@S Suwandi Yes, “girl.”
When I was a girl she was also a girl.

Love you girl! Take your time, we will always root for you 💖
Thank you so much for your story...I broke my wrist and am in the beginning of pt and healing. Your words have given me strength and the ability to stop feeling sorry for myself. God bless you.
Oh Brooke. That crushes my soul. I fell and broke my tibia, and it was a long process.
I am also learning to walk also. Life happens. Love, light, joy, mobility and blessings to everyone.
In just one second, our lives can change forever. Prayers to Brooke.
I have a new sense of admiration for her. What a trooper! So glad she shared her story with the world.
Character revealing for sure! Even though your teens are acting like typical teens- they will always remember your tenacity! You never know who you're influencing with the behavior you choose. ✌️❤️
Hello Amy
I absolutely loved this interview. Brooke has ALL the advantages of a wealthy woman in a country that has advanced medical capabilities. Yet, she faced the SAME fears that we would ALL face in this situation. Her courage, humility to ACTUALLY tell it like it happened and what she was feeling, inspires ME to be more confident and to put MY priorities in perspective order. Thank you for sharing this - thank you for being kind and honest.
Many of us are going through difficulties
I just came across this. Cannot imagine what she went through. I had hip surgery for a fractured hip then went home and got a hematoma and then back to hospital with a deep infection and then another hip surgery again. All in two weeks. I wish her the best and how nice of her to share her story. Lovely lady.
I absolutely hate to see anyone suffer. she's been through a lot in her life.
God bless.
So sorry Brooke, that this has happened to you, it is shocking. Thinking of you right now and praying for you. Love from Canada.

What talented ever so strong amazing woman.God bless you dear.
I completely agree with you!!
Brooke, I am soooooo SORRY that you are going through this!!!! You are such a BEAUTIFUL SOUL, and I will be keeping you in prayer.
Prayers to you Brooke 🌈✝️☮️
I have experienced that pain. The tip of the ball joint of my right hip completely disintegrated. Then it got infected and I had to have the surgery repeated two more times within the same twelve months. All in so much pain. Now I look like I have a bicycle cable and a saw blade holding my right femur together. 13 years later though I have minimal residual effects. Praise God.
God bless you as you work through this total recovery. It really takes a long time. So much bone and soft tissue healing that needs to happen.
