    I love this Parish, and I’m so happy to be converting to Eastern Orthodoxy. These bells literally bring tears to my eyes every service… lol, even now as I type this. I don’t know why, I just love them so much.

      In the Eastern Orthodox church, people get formally blessed or dedicated to be bell ringers in churches. I have seen videos from Russia showing sets of bells on stands which are used for demonstration, and also to teach people how to ring them. These are obviously holy men, and there is a monastery next door to the Cathedral.

      Yes, the bells are ringing real fast
      because the baptism of Rus is celebrated (baptized in 988). Because of this, the bells are ringing very fast, happily and full of joy. I belong to the Lutheran Church, but my mother was Russian Orthodox.

    I would be interested in such question: these bells are casted in 20-21-th century, or it is old bells?
    Because, the sound of big 2 bells with in company of 3 small bells are magnificent!
    May be do you know bell casting manufactures in USA, witch cast bells for ORTHODOX churches.
    I will be very thankful for such information. Thank you.

      Most orthodox churches in america just use bells cast in belgium for catholic churches, but just get them in multiple tones, altho some do get them from russia

      Joking aside, bell ringing did inspire 2 forms of exercise for well off British people in the 1700s. One was a device with a long rope, imitating a church bell mechanism, but without the bell, a weight instead for resistance. Also some people did exercises with handbells with the clappers removed. Both of these were known as dumb bells. And that's where the word dumbbell comes from.

      Да, колокола звонят очень быстро,
      потому что празднуется крещение Руси (крестился в 988 г.). Из-за этого kолокольный звон быстрый, счастливый и радостный.

    • @perezvonkolokolov
      @perezvonkolokolov 3 года назад +2

      Темп "немного плавает". То чуть быстрее, то чуть медленнее. Но от этого хуже не становиться. мне звон понравился. Малые колокола удачно и красиво сочетаются с 2 большими. Эти звонари, доказывают, что красивый и динамичный звон можно исполнить на небольшом наборе колоколов.
      Звон звучит даже лучше, чем в иных соборах с набором в 9-15 колоколов.
      Респект и уважение им.

      Different discipline . The same as classical music and jazz are 2 different types of music. This type of bell ringing reminds me of percussion music where you have a slow beating big drum, and smaller drums creating a rhythm over the top. Sounds more musical to me than most European bell ringing. These bells are particularly tuneful - a lot of Orthodox bells are not actually tuned as a set, unlike British ones. That's one reason I compare this type of ringing with drumming.

    I personally find this style of "music" primitive and agressive. Besides the slim guy seems to bully the fat guy.

    • @gregoryv3147
      @gregoryv3147 3 года назад +10

      I know you commented this a while ago I just wanted to clarify a few things. I don’t want to argue with your opinions of the music being aggressive as it is simply a preference that you are free to have. On the note of primitivism within the bell ringing I fail to see how you come to this conclusion. If it is about the fact that the bells have been around for ages then so has the guitar. If it about the fact that all it is is hitting an object to produce a tone then so is the piano and so are many other instruments. The actual theory behind tuning the bells is very sound and you can spend a very long time reading into the theory behind bell ringing. It is most certainly an art as are all other instruments. As for the bullying I really need to clarify that. I am the bell master of my church bell tower and I have to teach a lot of people to ring. The most key thing to learn is communication and the guy ringing the trezvon small bells is watching to make sure he is in time with the big bell, which is keeping the rhythm for the entire piece. This is music as it is a series of notes arranged in a deliberate manner if you wish to go by literal definitions I don’t want to argue, just clarify
