Hey guys, how's it going? Here's yet another JRPG review! They just don't stop coming! What do you guys think of Destiny Connect? Will you be picking it up when it releases next week? Let us know to support the show! Don't forget to check out my video of ALL the Physical releases THIS week. The video got buried by some of our reviews so we'd appreciate a view if you missed it: ruclips.net/video/8QZxxIhFiZo/видео.html
Who makes the thumbnails? Really great work, honestly. 👍
@@808zhu Jordan makes them all, I am replying cause he deserves the credit for them! (Juan)
@@SwitchWatch That's some tight pro work, man. Speaking as a 20 year Photoshop veteran. 🤙 How you doing Juan? 😊
@@808zhu I'm good pal! Maybe you should do one of our Thumbs. Would be great having a follower of our work contribute one. I'm good buddy just busy as anything both in work and in this wonderful thing we call a hobby. What about you?
@@SwitchWatch I'd go for that. I'm not sure you have my contact information though. Glad to hear things are going well with you. I'm very busy hustling here in the mainland U.S. I've got my hands in everything - never a dull moment. Mostly trying to liquidate inventory & reappropriate funds for farm projects. Playing music, enjoying the Ultrawings game, milling big oak logs, demolition, constructing micro solar energy systems, reviewing forest management plans... A lot of fun stuff. 🤙
I don't have a ten year old child but at times I act like one. Does that count? 😁😁😁
Totally! (I'm right there with you haha)
This looks surprisingly fun. Maybe I can play it with my daughter for some quality time. I appreciate your channel reviewing games others typically don't.
For certain, I'm sure you and your daughter will have a lovely time with this
I’m almost 30....I wanna play this...
Why not pal, you may enjoy it 😃👍
Isaac looks like the Google Android. I love it! 😂😂😂
My mind has been blown. HOW DID I NOT SEE THAT!
@@SwitchWatch if it was green they'd probably get sued. 😂😂😂
Also, yeah this is a fantastic idea! I love a JRPG for kids! This is probably my favorite genre, so the fact that I can get my kids into this with a game they can actually play and succeed at is really awesome
Absolutely buddy, I'm sure Juan and I will be waiting till our kids are old enough to play this 👍😃
The UI looks so good! I love the gears and typeface for each name.
Nice presentation overall
Nice review, I think this game could find a gap in the market for older gamers who find JRPGs intimidating. I got into RPGs relatively late with things like Mega Man Battle Network and Superstar Saga. A good entry point.
Very well made point Judith. Thank you
Thanks for the review I preordered the limited edition from NIS to get my daughter into RPGs. Glad to hear about the soundtrack. 😁
Perfect, can't wait to hear what you think 👍😃
This is on the xmas list for the little lad, cheers pal!
I'm sure he will like this one, man!
Dark Cloud for Switch looks quite good!
JK
I miss Dark Cloud series, sigh...
You and me both!
I mean, I bought it for 10 bucks at a Gamestop the other day. Which translates to roughly 7 and a half pounds for the europeans. I haven't played it yet, I have a massive backlog to get through first, but this review made me want to play it and I hope to enjoy it.
Great review , just heard about this today. Love the aesthetic , reminds me of "Rhapsody: A Musical Advanture" in spirit , if not graphics.
Thank you 😃
Really glad you reviewed this one. I've been looking forward to it for ages, but at the same time I wasn't sure if it was gonna be worth the money. I think I can live with the simplicity (especially compared to games like XC2 where you're playing it for dozens of hours and it's STILL introducing new mechanics), but all the same I reckon I'll wait for a cheaper preowned copy.
Absolutely pal, thanks for the comment and if you do try it I hope you enjoy it 👍😃
Thank you so much for the great review. I just picked this up as a blind buy for $7.60 usd. Im excited to jump into this cute little rpg.
That's a great price!
I like the run animations. So many games miss the weight behind each step.
I was going to mention I like the walking/running animation!
Definitely getting this. It looks awesome.
Hope you enjoy it buddy! Let us know what you think once you've played it. Always interested to compare opinions!
Are there any difficulty modes to speak of? I know its for children in mind but it be nice to slide things up a little.
Ouch, I probably shouldn't have deleted this game before comments started coming in (this review has been done for over a week since we got it very, very early). I don't remember seeing difficulty options, but I can't say for sure. Don't worry, I think it will offer a little bit of a tactical challenge, it's not exactly a walk in the park even if it's geared towards a younger audience.
Sold! Just stumbled upon this and a very good review. I'mma get this as I'm an rpg fanatic, no matter what the age genre it's aimed at.
Hope you enjoy it buddy!
I'd completely forgotten all about this game :O did a news story on it a few months ago and I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and artstyle.
Easy one to forget about since it's not been pushed a whole lot. I think NIS America have so much on their plate right now.
So... many...RPG's on the Switch. (This is not a bad thing)
The only bad thing is that we have no time!
@@SwitchWatch We need time travel to play all these RPGs.
Already preordered the collector's edition on NISA site when it was announced.
I'm jealous man! Wish I could afford that myself
That’s The Version I Wanted 😅
Oh how cute! Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome 👍😃
I'm definitely getting this one, first NIS America game on the switch that I'm getting
Creature style is amazing, reminds me of earthbound. However, I've recently played that chibi final fantasy world game, and kid friendly rpgs aren't for me... wish that I had a kid to recommend this to. Right now, it's for $5 on switch. This could be a hidden gem.
I actually want this, but im gonna wait for a sale on the E-shop 39.99 is just a tad too much for me. Thank you for all the great game news!
NIS America games don't go on sale too often on the eShop, although there physical releases often do.
I’m tempted to buy this. It looks like a lot of fun
I think it's worth it, or perhaps wait for a sale if you're still on the fence.
I'm here cause it's on sale for 4 bucks
Looks good and charming
I like the battle system
great review
Thanks pal 👍😃🦉
The characters are giving off slight Chrono Trigger vibes.
The whole premise, really. But plays very differently and once you're in the game you'll kind of forget that Chrono Trigger vibe.
This is a lil cutesy game for kids. Nice review Jordan like always.. have ur kids been enjoying it. I know Juan daughter would 😁😁👍🏽👍🏽
Haha mine's a bit too young (1 year old!) but I think Juan's little one would enjoy this one alongside some disney movies
SwitchWatch oh he/she be playing games in no time Jordan..
I'm thinking of getting this for my OLED I am an adult but it looks cute and for the OLED I know I can play in handheld beautifully and in docked 1080!!!!!......ya know what.....I'm getting it!!!!!! Right now I can't help myself!!!!!!
Seems like a good title to pick up when/if it goes on sale.
Oh definitely
It is now :)
@@0c3An50uL yeah, and now I’m broke!
Great stuff Jordan! This fall season for this Switch is absolutely brutal, my wallet is hurting! So I’m afraid this is a pass for now!
I'm not sure what NIS are thinking releasing at this time. They've even sandwiched it between two other big games from themselves: Disgaea and Alliance Alive. Crazy time to be an NIS PR person!
Reminds Me Of A 3D Earthbound, I Want A Physical Copy But It’s $9.99 Right Now On The E Shop 😂
If disney was an JRPG
Sora: Am I a joke to you
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha knew that was coming! Most of them are Action RPGs though, to be fair.
The answer is yes! At least in the case of KH3.
@@MsToshi1990 Lmaoooi
@@MsToshi1990 it's decent not the best but not the worse
@@QueenslayerSora Its the biggest joke in the history of waiting!
I so wanna check this out but $31 sale price feels to high still
Hmmmmmm it is a tad. Need to go to 20 bucks
Which version is better the PS4 version or the Switch version?
They are supposedly quite equal. So I guess if you want to play on the go, then the Switch might be best
indivisible , cold steel 3, dragon quest 1-3&11S, and now this. Too many interesting rpgs
I enjoyed the game greatly. I beat it too. The camera in buildings is a hindrance, especially for someone with bad eyesight . And I play in handheld mode most of the time. But it's amazing and good replay value
Glad you enjoyed it!
if it's aimed at kids it could be good for me to practice japanese with, are there language options available in the game?
There's only English as far as I'm aware
@@SwitchWatch i'll just pick up the japanese region version then. thanks for the reply and the review!
is this game too easy for adult?
Sad about the Lack of Voice acting, but I think I’ll pick this up, I am definitely burnt out of all the Edgy JRPGs and I want something light hearted for once
Yeah definitely a pity about voice acting. Let us know what you think once you've played it buddy. Always interested in hearing what other people think
How many hours did you get out of it?
I can't check now since I archived the game to make room for other games to review (this review was finished a while ago since we received it very early), But off the top of my head I think it was about 25~ish hours. It wasn't the longest. It might have been less than that to be honest.
@@SwitchWatch I subbed because you replied. Thanks
i just beat it at lv50 and 13 hours. not too bad a game. nice and relaxing. such a shame there's no voice acting at all.
Wow that was quick!
I’m getting a feeling of earthbound, steam world dig, and final fantasy x combined from this one with a splash of Toon TOWN. Probably just me.
There's all-sorts going on with this one
This game looks awesome. Just wish you could customize you human characters
Would be cool indeed. Thanks pal 👍
I I s there a physical copy?
Yes there is. Releasing in North America on the 22nd and Europe 25th. Link is in the description
Do you travel back to b.c.? If you do, does it call it b.c. or b.c.e? It's actually important to me. I'm a big history buff. So I get really annoyed when some change it to b.c.e when in reality, it was always known as b.c.
Sorry buddy it's been a long time since I played this so I can't remember. Hopefully someone else can help you out.
No you dont. Its always A.D. And... Whats wrong with B.C.E... As far as I know B.C.E. Stand for "Before Common Era". Which is true. There is no edvidence that Christ existed. So this change make total sense. If you're into history - you should be into facts too. So - there is no fact. Its totaly fine.
@@0c3An50uL look up the documentary "case for christ" it's filled with evidence that JESUS existed. So yes, there's loads of evidence. And besides, cancel culture is not history. It's just cancel culture. Besides, without b.c. then a.d makes no sense. If it was before common era, then what the heck is after death? They changed bc to bce and leaving ad alone makes no sense. Besides, I'm a history buff. Not a cancel culture nut. There's a big difference there.
@@dreadGodshand Lol... The is no edvidence at all. Just some who want to believe there is. But official edvince does not exist. So.. No problem. BCE make total sense. But yes. When BCE is used - AD should be replaced with CE
@@dreadGodshand Possibilities =/= Proof
Gives me a blue dragon vibe
Never played that one sadly
@@SwitchWatch omg what. You should. It's very enjoyable
Looks good
Will you be picking this one up?
@@SwitchWatch probably
Nowhere have the developer ever stated this was designed with a younger audience in mind. You are pulling that out of your asses. Did you ever consider that the reason for the ridiculous basic action tutorials is because NIS doesn’t tend to make 3D games in house. Also if you read interviews with the development staff this game was in some state of development for ages and was a concept long before the current gen.
Well from playing it for 20 hours I think it was designed with a younger audience in mind. Everything about this game screams "younger audience" whether they admit it or not.
SwitchWatch so because you say so, regardless of what the developers say, it’s for kids. Your arrogance is astounding...
@@geoffreychauvin1474 Hey Geoffrey, I don't mind debating it with you pal. It's nothing to do with arrogance. I just disagree. Play the game for yourself and if you believe it's an adult game then fair enough but having played it for a good amount of time I believe that it is aimed at a younger audience. Not saying adults can't enjoy it, of course they can.
well, the title is a little bit wrong, disney made a jrpg, and its name is Kingdom Hearts
I personally wouldn't ever call Kingdom Hearts a JRPG.
@@SwitchWatch but it is literally a JRPG
an action RPG maybe, but not your classic JRPG.
@@SwitchWatch no, if you seach witch gender is kh, you will see he is listed as a JRPG
This game belongs on a PC! ;)
looks cool for kids to start, yeah...
Indeed it does 😃👍
Looks like something Jimmy Neutron would star in.
Yeah pretty much haha
Pretty vague review and it does not really give an idea of the game's feel beyond you using Dreamworks/Disney as a crutch comparison. (In my opinion, it does not quite look like those either.)
Well, it does to me. 👍
I have this one to get out.
Its no a bad one
Decent all-round buddy!
@@SwitchWatch it is the art style was a shock for NIS America especially nippo inchi but it grows on you
So Nippon Games makes a fun rpg with striking visuals, but can't afford voice acting. Yet Corecell with the steaming heap that is AeternoBlade II got voice acting, horrible voice acting, but voice acting none the less.
Perhaps they couldn't get the quality for the budget they had. No voice acting is better than bad voice acting maybe?
Perhaps, tell that to Corecell though, they sure could have spend their money better.
Game looks awesome, that’s why I preordered it for my PS4 Pro and 4K TV.
Enjoy it buddy! I believe it's still 30fps on PS4 though, same as Switch
I kinda get some Ghibli vibes from this actually.
Hey, is this rpg for children? It wasn't very clear from the review... :p
I think adults can certainly enjoy it but from my perspective i would say a younger audience can enjoy it too 😉
a hat in time and this 👍
Have you play a Hat in Time? how's the port?
@@SwitchWatch seen some review about the port but its passable for me. havent play it yet (going physical)so i cant tell you by exp.
@@porkyvonchop6458 I think I'll get a hat in time *_if_* the port holds up. I don't like Mario that much so It will may be my 3d platformer.
What's an RPG? 🤔😉
Something I kind of wish there were slightly less of, just so I could have more time in the world. 😂
@@SwitchWatch Comes with the territory. 😁 Hang in there - it's a struggle!
Too much money
Probably could have done with being about 5-10% cheaper, but it will be in time.
