As a disabled person, I personally have found this period in time, peaceful, calm, and in many ways, a relief. I have always tried to fit into ‘normal’ life, and despite health issues have always strived to create a life that is considered to be again ‘normal’. I’ve always worked, had a social life, had relationships, (although not healthy ones ). Due to Covid everybody has had to ‘stop’ or at least slow down considerably, and for once I feel on more of an equal level to others, which, I have to say is liberating. Everyone is experiencing a slower existence. I understand that there are other people are going through an absolutely horrid time for many reasons, but I can only speak about how I feel. And right now my anxiety levels have shot up thinking of life going back to the fast, chaotic, competitive pace that it was, and once again I’ll feel left behind. I am grateful for what I have, I have a family, friends, a nice home, my gorgeous dog,. But there is still that feeling of anxiety that things will go back to how they were, and I’ll be expected to achieve and excel again, when most of the time I just want to remain in my little ‘bubble’. The fear of failure is reall!! xx

However, I do have to say that giving up drinking 18 months ago has helped massively, and has made the anxiety a little easier to manage. xx

Jane Friel I’m so sorry lovely, I think I may have missed your past replies to my comments. I don’t comment often, but in this case felt compelled to. I’m so sorry to hear that once this period is over that you’ll still be on your own. I am lucky that I have a good family and circle of friends. And although my mobility is compromised, I do have a social life (although much less theses days, partly through choice), and I do work. Thank goodness for social media, at least we can communicate with each other this way. Take care of yourself. Abi xx

Mark you are also underneath the umbrella for mental health. That is a very good place to be, helping others. Better and more informed than many. Once many yrs ago before I became sober I rang the Samaritans during my mental torture and anguish. They listened and said, that’s one of those sexual relationships, which was maybe true. All his comment did was stop me in my tracks and I hung up. That’s where you are indispensable with your wealth of experience. Takes one to know one. If you can’t cant smell them, you can’t tell them. Xx💙

One possible benefit , for anxiety , due to the ongoing lockdown is there's more guilt or anxiety about not going out somewhere when you may of been feeling like that pre lockdown. No more anxiety thinking you need to go to the gym when now you temporarily got that break from the anxieties thinking in advance you have to do these things not long ago but now for few months you've got that time to not have that anxiety of you should really be doing this or that this week and weeks ahead the same pressures of that anxiety. So perhaps for some this lockdown could be turned around into a positive whereby your mind anxiety can calm down a notch if not switched off completely, and one can use this less pressurised time to simply relax more without the normal pressures of having to go out and do things you would normally get anxious about . Maybe this can be turned around as a mental break/ holiday from the anxieties of a normal time..... Do could, for some , this period could be a restful recovery period.... Just a thought.....

This was really reassuring thank you Mark.
My daughter suffers from depression and anorexia. The lockdown has made her feel unable to face going out at all now ( she was managing a small walk twice a week with me ) , it’s just been too long now and it’s upsetting her greatly . I felt reassured by the advice you gave so thank you . Safety in numbers and like minded others has reassured me .

      Lorraine Strubin
Just want to give your daughter hope.....As a teenager and young adult I suffered from both depression and anorexia and although it has been a slow painful journey I am now a 50 year old woman with a healthy food relationship. My advice is that TIME helps so the key for her is to take baby steps each day. These baby steps will build on each other and eventually she will be in a better place. She must be kind and patient with herself and recognise her small improvements. Just take 1 day at a time. Good books that helped me “ A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle and “The Seat of the Soul” by Gary Zukav.
I wish you both well and know that she can do this 💪💪🙏🙏

I have discovered I need a slow pace to be content ... this discovery has helped a lot because before I thought that I wasn't able to cope with life, it's the speed and noise of life that's the problem not always me. Thanks Mark so much for all your dedication to mental health, you really help so many. You are a very good soul, just being you ❤❤❤❤❤

Superb mental health chat there Mark. I myself suffer with anxiety depression and emotional worries. At the beginning of lockdown I found it difficult due to lack of exercise at my local gym. But thanks to my lovely mum who brought me an exercise bike it’s helped me with my issues. I use my exercise bike everyday along with doing weight exercises.

Your so right Diane, some times they do my head in if the more than 4 of them 🤕 because they take away from the flow of listening. I'm dyslexic so for me it's like my mind wandering off a book page, so I have to read again the last page I just read, very tiring 😴

I'm absolutely sure I agree and relate to everything you say and feel. More than anyone I ever have. I've had copious amounts of therapy and I am much better, much more free, but you put into words exactly how I have felt and sometimes still do. Mornings are the most hellish time. Only immediately when I wake up. Im better a few minutes later. All your advice is spot on Mark. I wish so many more people would know about the content of your channel. Particularly on mental health. I personally have never benefited from SSRI'S for anxiety. THE LINDEN METHOD is an intelligent anxiety recovery programme. Thank you so much Mark for your wisdom and honesty. DEREALISATION AND DEPERSONALISATION are horrific and again TLM is a good support. Lots of love xx

@@donnag4150 it utterly amazes me the emotional and general intelligence of this man. He's a one off for sure and I value their support, as I'm sure you do. My husband is a very skilled practica man. He's my rock. But Rocks are hard and solid and we are so different. I'm an empath and a hsp which makes us opposite, but for whatever reason we're still.in love after 30yrs. The times has had to shoulder my various health issues! He just doesn't know what to say to make me feel better and deep down he thinks I'm lazy, as I don't have his stamina. He never stops. I do all.the house keeping and have a voluntary job. I was a mental health nurse and owned a care home, but the stress of it caused me to have a 'nervous breakdown.' I also have chronic pain issues and cfs. This is where Mark comes in. I feel understood completely...sorry fir the rant. Just saw your reply. I hope you're keeping well . Love Hayley xx we do have a large 2 acre plot and live in a cottage in the welsh hills. When he's not working at his day job, I recognise how much he does to make a lovely home for us.

I decided to copy the above here, as I don't really want to keep pasting in the chat anymore. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have your message read out once in a while, but I think I prefer watching the videos back later.

I'm at my wits end at the moment Mark, all throughout this my neighbour has totally flouted the so called rules of " non engagement " I work 10 hour shifts in a nursing home that has lost over 10 ( I don't like to call them residents) I call them family, I know young people are struggling but he laughs in our faces when we ask him to turn down the music, my mental health is being pushed to the limit at the moment, no sleep , no help from the police, environmental health, housing association, I get told... We have no control over policing this....I don't know where or what to do ...

That's terrible, Clare... Is his behaviour putting you at risk directly? If not, I think you're going to have to grin and bear it. Easier said than done, I know... but it's really not worth putting yourself through unnecessary suffering for. This person probably doesn't have the brain capacity to understand where you're coming from...

I had a call with my mental health help today with the nhs because I’m a waiting for a counsellor, it was very traumatic 😭😭 he told me I’m much too hard on myself ☹️ I never feel good enough or that I’ve been a good mother 😢 I adore all my 5 children but I worry about them all the time far too much and I walk on eggshells all the time because I’m afraid I will upset them 😟 I batter myself and just feel lonely I have ptsd childhood trauma 😢😢 I’m 59 and have no understanding of myself I live in fear all the time 😭😭 the guy told me today I have to reach out more to their helpline but I always feel that other people need it more than I do 😢 he says that’s not the case I’m just as important as everyone else . My children range from 41 down to 22 and lots of different issues have arisen over the years as their father hasn’t been there for them I’ve always been the dumping ground and I just feel I’m not good enough if they get upset with me especially if they get angry 😡 mark you are a wonderful guy to listen too x my husband is brilliant with me he never knows if I’m going be sad , agitated or angry but he stands so strong by me and I even don’t get that ?? Because I feel very unlovable 😭😭😭 thankyou mark 🙏 and thankyou nadia your wonderful people and parents xxxx I think sometimes I should just take all my tablets and then my children could just get on better without me but I was told today NO I’m worth being . 😭
