- This video is a little different than my usual videos but I wanted to make it since the Holidays are coming up and a lot of you will be traveling. This is how I travel with my bike and gear by van and by airplane. This van conversion has been one of the greatest decisions of my life. Its almost been a full year now that I have had it and I still am in love with it as if it were the first day! It has allowed me to be able to travel to al my trips with all of my desired bikes and gear.
As for traveling by plane.....I usually only choose one bike. My Thule RoundTrip bike bag has been a game changer as well. This bike bag has a built in stand to make it so much easier to take apart and re build the bike making my travels so much more enjoyable.

Not for a 1000 bucks
How do you keep the bike bag under 32kg /70lbs max of any airline... An approx 14kg/30lbs+ bike, 13.4kg/29.5lbs bag, plus the tyres, tools, helmet clothes, etc?
My evoc pro bag is 10kg, bike 13.5kg, but with helmet, basic tools, pedals, shoes etc I struggled to get it under 32kg!
Any update on the Thule Bike bag. After having for sometime now. Have you had any damage to your bikes while flying with it? It seems heavy have you had any over weight charges from airlines. Thanks in advance 🙏🏾

Cool! Though I'm hooked, I'd watch Heather wash the van. Looks like the bike bag is ~ $1K.
Do youuse foam grips or something? Why do you have to replace grips on a trip? How many times a year do you have to chage them
That bike bag is pretty impressive. It looks like they've put a lot of thought into the design.
Could you please share the bike racks you use in your van? That is the ones where you take the wheel off, put the axle bike in the fork and the rack clamps onto the axle.
@heathermunive have you been affected by specialized ditching there brand embasadors ?
However no US based airline allows more than 1000 watt hour lithium batteries unless it is on a medically prescribed mobility device. And battery must be with you in cabin. a 48 Volt e-bike battery would exceed that.
How does the huge Lithium battery make it past TSA? I don't get it....unless you say it's just a regular bike.

Hey Heather that travel bag looks amazing. I want to travel by plane with a E bike but not sure how that will work with the battery? have you done this?
Hey, I have not flown with my e bike yet. I would have to do some research on if were able to travel with that size battery.
Airlines cannot carry any e-bike. This is due to the risk of the battery catching fire and that would down the plane.
U might be able to ship as cargo, with special measures for the battery.
Besides it being illegal, it would be impossible to get a full fat eeb plus bag under the 32kg max.
Your sweet parents have spoiled you lol. You are well taken care of. That bike travel bag setup is outstanding.

Don't you slip in a plastic wedge in the front brake as soon as you take the wheel off? Just a slight accidental touch of the front brake and you got yourself an air bubble and it's bleed time.
That won't cause an air bubble. The issue is advancing the pistons so much they pop out and brake fluid pours out everywhere
For a thousand-dollar bag, it BETTER be fantastic.
After all it’s gotta protect her $35K in bikes! Good investment.

Heather, are all your specialized bikes 27.5's? Just got a Rockhopper 29 and it's so AWESOME!!😍The only thing I don't like is going from my GT 24 bmxer with 1.75 tires to my hopper with wide tires!! I'm so jealous of your van,lol.
Cool video!! I really like that Thule bike bag but it weighs 29lbs by itself. So it would be quite expensive to get that bag on the airplane, somewhere in the $150-200 range. But then again it s $6k bike and that bag has some great features. Keep Shred'N !!

I’ve got that Thule bag, used it to race the Yak Attack in Nepal. It’s so protective I didn’t bother removing the rear mech. Being able to fold it right down made leaving it at the hotel in Kathmandu a much more polite affair.

There is no way she is NOT paying for the extra weight. She should be ok if she takes out all the extra stuff she packed in there
@@mannyvidal4917 I know my MTB weighs about 30lbs.the bag has to be close to 20,so I'm guessing it's over 50 lbs with the gear and extra parts.

The evoc standard bike bag weighs less than pro version also.
The Thule bike bag beats the cardboard bike box I used in the 80’s.

Depends on the bike in it. Bag alone weighs 13.4kg (29.5lbs)😮

Hey!! The bag does protect the rotors. that's one feature I love. the tire slides in and the rotors have a hard spot that protects them

Thank you, I haven't traveled with the e bike by plane yet. Just in the van and it's been great. Aside from it being heavy Im sure it'd still be relatively easy to travel with by plane.
@@HeatherMuniveno Airlines to my knowledge take eebs... I understand its illegal, due to the large batteries. Basically as risky as a jerry can of petrol. 99.99% of times both would be fine.... But just that one time = crashed plane and 300 dead people.
Case in point, an electric car battery fire that recently destroyed most of a car park. Imagine a eeb battery going faulty and bursting into flames while locked away in planes hold with all that other luggage to burn!
