First of all- this looks gorgeous! I absolutely love seeing your creativity and the fact that you recycle skateboards and manage to make a masterpiece each and every single time! Epoxy is a great adhesive and absolutely an awesome material to combine into your projects. However, breathing epoxy dust is very harmful for your health so please please please use some kind of respiratory protection mask while sanding epoxy. Please like so Ben could see this! We love you and we don't want your health harmed!
I can't get over how gorgeous this thing looks! Watching on IG, I had no clue you toe-nailed all those strips in. Makes so much more sense seeing it here. Your conference table from a couple years ago was super nice, but this is next level stuff. Can't wait to hear how well the raffle does. That's for sharing!
I've done woodworking my entire life (wasn't allowed to touch a power tool until I was 15 so I know my hand tools VERY well) but I've been working at a skate/bike shop for a few years now and I've been collecting some old cracked and broken boards for a while so I think it's time to try my hand at some of these. With my own flavor of course😂
I never considered a sanding wheel on the table saw, that’ll be a game changer/space saver in my shop! And I LOVE the X pattern you carefully laid out with the strips! Excellent build, Ben!
So cool Ben! I check every Day your channel for new videos! Your awsome! I’m an architect student so your stuff is a mastro made with holy detail.. you have such a talent🔝
awesome table, very professional build. you take the time to do it right you dont skip or take short cuts. Honorable commitment to Quality love your high standard of work ethic iam curious, what would something like that cost to purchase
Sick table!!! Very tedious work, came out incredible. I would have used Purple Heart for the edges, pick up that pink/purple in the “X”, but walnut works too! Nice
Lovely looking table! I'm a little worried about it clouding in a few years as epoxy isn't uv stable, how much uv protection dose the finish you've used have? Prehaps a thin build of varnish would be a good idea and then that finished to ensure stability of the epoxy
Love the tabletop, great outcome and soooo much work with the strips! I would have liked some bright aprons better to get a higher contrast to the strips colors. (The colors would shine even brighter then.)
First off it looks amazing and the Odies Oil really pops. I don't really comment but It looks so good and I would hate to see it warp, If you epoxied both sides of the table your fine but if you didn't you get unequal moisture exchange, granted it is less since its plywood but I would be a little concerned anyway, its a general rule of thumb. Same reason why you should veneer both sides on a substrate especially when its thinner. I veneered a panel one side with 1/16" shop sawn veneer and it complety warped so that is why on the other side I did two layers of 1/32" veneer crossbanded and it worked fine. This top is over an inch so its less of an issue but that is quickly made up by its size. And honestly.... It might warp or it might not, there are so many factors. same goes for finishing especially with finishes that build like polyurethane varnish etc. Oils are less important but if you do 4 coats of poly and 1 coat on the other side yet again that is unequal moisture exchange. The idea is to keep it balanced. Also different climates change things too.
Love this! The Table Saw Sanding disc would save me a lot of space and money over getting a benchtop sander however I cannot for the life of me see the link for it in your description?
We are in awe of this table top! It looks AMAZING - fantastic work and build!
Thank youuuuu :)
The guy down the block: "What's that yelling?"
Another guy,: "Oh, that's just Ben. He makes cool stuff"

Makes me wonder what a poker table from you would look like? Still have that slot machine from the dotted art pieces?
Awesome! This is what I think about this table :)
I would love to see a bow riser made from skateboards. You’d probably need to collaborate with someone, but I think it would be super awesome.
