  • By far my nerdiest video title yet. My Economics teacher would be proud. This video is a return to form, primarily discussing just 1 ID, Cinq Sinclair, who is the most recent 000 ID at the time of this video's release.
    I need to get better at making descriptions.

    [13:00] About this... this is only something I've heard about recently, but apparently nerfing units in a gacha game is kind of a taboo, at least to my knowledge? The issue is that, as you alluded to, these are units that a lot of people PAID REAL MONEY to get, so nerfing them creates a potential problem where the nerfed version was not what people "bought" (gambled for).
    If you're wondering if this problem has affected Limbus in the past: It has, once. When they reworked the Offense/Defense Levels and scaling in Season 2, Project Moon accidentally made N-Faust's Offense Level just _slightly_ lower than it was supposed to be. While this was a complete mistake, apparently some people in the Korean Limbus community were quite mad about this, claiming that they had intentionally "shadow nerfed" her or something along those lines - and this was only because her Offense Level was, like, 2 lower than before!
    So, due to nerfs being apparently controversial in the general "gacha" community, I can see why PM has almost _never_ directly nerfed an Identity outside of fixing bugs. However, I don't see why PM can't instead _buff_ non-meta IDs to make them more viable, which I hope they do in the future (but NOT through additional Uptie tiers for accessibility reasons).

      5 emotion levels in ruina
      5 risk levels for abnormalities
      5 agent levels in lobotomy corporation (the stats can go to EX, but the actual level goes up to 5)
      5 librarians per floor in library
      Need I say more?
      Also, remember the incident with Uptie IV Bodysack?
      People assumed the bug was the wrong description not procking, when PM said the bug was a wrong description (making it a VERY INDIRECT nerf), the backlash was so harsh, they had to refound heath shards and thread

      @@NMC213 I'm OK with their being future Uptie/Threadspin tiers. I just don't want Project Moon to use these new tiers as a "balance patch" like they did with Tier 4.
      Say, for example, that a particular Identity or E.G.O is ONLY good once it's at Tier 5, but is basically worthless otherwise. This creates an issue where for a very large portion of the playerbase, and ESPECIALLY new players who will probably be using Identities at Tier 3, and E.G.O at Tier 2, said Identity is just as bad as it was before the "buff" added by the new Uptie tier.
      Basically, if they want to buff an Identity or E.G.O, I would rather they buff it across ALL of its tiers (or at least Tier 3+), rather than just the newly-introduced highest tier.

    The cinq association is my favorite addition to project moon's universe from Limbus Company. Cinqclair's skills have easier bonus conditions than cinquixote since its speed difference, not speed overall. It kinda makes sense since he's one section above don. My favorite cinq id though is cinq outis. Her kit as an evade tank is fun to play and gives great dunban vibes. Overall, I do hope we get similar ids to them. I do have some questions regarding the dieci association though, they use books and knowledge to fight which is kinda similar to the library itself. It also sounds similar to the idea of the "bookhunters" briefly mentioned in one of the alternate endings. Using multiple id's of one character COULD make sense lorewise. Spoilers ahead for Leviathan.
    Garnet was able*(forced) to refract into multiple mirrors and used them at the same time to (almost *(jobbed at the last moment)) beat a Ring member. He used Black Silence, Shi, Lulu, and a Ring Officer at the same time. At the very least, it might be possible to apply skills/passives from one id to another.

  • @Brokenfirealarm
    @Brokenfirealarm 6 месяцев назад +37

    One thing you missed is Nclair is very good in clashes. Everytime he loses a coin in a clash he doesn't lose potential to win overall. If his skill 3 loses all the way to his last coin he STILL has a chance at the full 30 unlike Cinqclair who at his last coin would only have 9 at best, and if you lose that many in a row winning with a 9 is unlikely.
    Still I do agree and like that Nclair at least has some solid competition outside of just his support passives.

    • @nowaif9144
      @nowaif9144 6 месяцев назад +1

      I think you misunderstood him, Nclair is good in clashing its just the Cclair is overall better in that field. Just look at both their skill 1's, the skill you have the highest chance of getting, at max Ncalir can get a base of 8 for its clashing wich is bad, then compare it to Cclairs base 11 with the ability to go up to 14 with its speed ability.

    • @Brokenfirealarm
      @Brokenfirealarm 6 месяцев назад

      @@nowaif9144 My main point is just that if Cinqclair starts to lose he will continue to lose more and more which negative coins don't have as a problem.
      If we look at your example, if Cinqclair starts losing his skill goes from at best (based just on coins) 11 to a 7 and he'll lose SP if he loses the whole clash which will make clashes harder and harder to win. If Nclair starts losing, his coins at best goes from 8 to still an 8. Also he gets MORE likely to win as his SP goes down as he will get tail coin flips meaning he maintains his higher number instead of lowering it like Cinqclair.

    NClair's negative coins massively buff his clashing potential though, because they basically restart at max value on each clash turn. In other words, his skill 3 for example has at least 3 chances to roll 30 and only becomes "safer" the more coins he loses. Hell, with 1 coin left, he will always roll at LEAST an 18.
    Compare this to positive skills, where you might only win a clash turn if you hit ALL heads - but if even one coins rolls tails, you will never reach the max value anymore and will lose the entire clash.

    Also, I can all but guarantee you that any gacha worth its salt will never, under any circumstance, nerf a character that people rolled for directly, since that would be akin to taking a product people paid for and making it worse. Obviously, that's a terrible look for a company to give off, so it almost never happens, even with blatantly broken stuff (Caster Artoria in Fate/Grand Order, for example).

    Given the state of current content, even with Nclair being how he is, I've found myself migrating away from using any Sinclair IDs at all (Except funnily enough Talisman), solely because I was sick of dealing with his sanity micromanagement. In MDs, he needed the first skill slot in order not to skyrocket to 45 SP, but then it would be the opposite problem and he would manage to corrode, so I just dropped him. I think I'm a little bit of an out of the ordinary player when it comes to making use of the Opportunity Cost of certain IDs, that being I got too attached to the characters and now I don't want to use the IDs where they're suffering.. In doing so I just straight up did not use Sinclair for anything because his IDs were either bad or in the Torment Nexus that is N Corp, so I'm really really happy that the Cinq ID is a perfectly usable ID because even if it was just okay I'd still be using it over Nclair (just like how I'm taking Remnant Faust, or Yuri Faust as I call her, everywhere for the story when Regret and 7 are right there in my pocket)

    I am honestly never returning to n sinclair ever after cinqclair. The sanity i frankly find infuriating to deal with and would much prefer to have dice back. And while nclair goes brrr, him relying on negative sanity debuffs my entire team by default since then you wouldn't be able to make full use out of fluid sack without literally actively gimping what is essentially one of your main dps when decice to run him. And something that actively pisses me off about him and rabbit man. They're both aging that should be clear heathcliff more so but to that one super useful tool in their kit they will be clinging onto dear life due to that one thing.

    I like to use both ID to solo bosses, Nclair can do massive damage and you don't have to worry about corrosion, and Cinq Sinclair evasion is high enough to dodge most attacks and his skill 2 and 3 is consistent for clashing. In general I wouldn't say which is better, as someone who is stilling grinding the MD3H with different team focus on status effects, they both belong to there respective teams, ( yes I count Nclair as burn ). The MD reward the player with more starlight if you don't use the same characters from previous runs, so I can bench Sinclair for someone who fits the team better.

    Funnily enough I think even though this vid says this is a nice new step, I would say Sinclair is definitively the last unit that got the whole opportunity cost balancing. Every other Sinner had at least two viable IDs that were either directly competing with various differences that can make one the pick over the other, even if one is generally better (Chef Ryoshu vs Warp Ryoshu for example), or two IDs who's purposes were so distinct from one another that you never felt like you were "giving up" something to run them (K Corp Hong Lu vs TingTang Hong Lu, Zwei Greg vs Pirate Greg, basically every good status specialist vs pure damage dealer). I think it took Sinclair so long to get one specifically because they knew that they HAVE to make it compete with NClair, the overall best unit in the game, who they made way overtuned and cannot nerf.

    another advantage nclair has had as well is that impending day, which was sinclair's only ego aside from his base one, is a negative coin, same with 9:2 which is also burn, which meant that nclair was the only one who could somewhat consistently getting big impact from them with lantern being the only one that benefits from high sanity so hopefully as he gets more positive egos the power scaling of other ids will rise

    N Sinclair big numbers make my brain happy. You are right on mirror though, either he will go insane or have too much sanity to be useful. When mirror was 7 member team I would make him my 7th with the rest of N Corp + Chef Ryoshu which did ok enough. Now I forfeit him completely as I need members who can last instead of doing an insane burst of damage. N Sinclair though will still for now be my exp/thread dungeon member just for the damage number.

    Cinqlair is slightly better because his 2 fragile can apply first almost every time. His damage is his own skill damage, plus the additional damage other units attacking that body part. Among other things, Cinqlair is the most stable clasher in the game now if we don't talk about the niche of needing to clash between 28 to 30. TT Hong Lu has less S2 anyway.

    i do know Nclair is pretty strong, but i am still that one person who just wants to try other things now and then so i can refresh myself with the same battle. Plus while Nclair is strong in battle, the times where you don't need Nclair means you are then allowed to consider what passives he would bring as a support, and that's where you still will consider raising the other Sinclairs to match other kinds of team synergies, which is really good of this game to still make other IDs relevant regardless of the OP units coming out. Also my RCliff is strong but is often the first one dead when he somehow loses one clash and staggers instantly so his balance is honestly being a glass cannon
    Plus regardless of OP topic, the best fan service this game will ever bring that doesn't involve a certain body and angle appeal, is seeing more sinners taking their version of a group of IDs or EGO that continue to, even if miniscule, create more lore into the game from their perspective under the syndicate or EGO. So yeah OP or not, i just like seeing more IDs and EGO regardless and be hyped or even disappointed with the skill animation and sound quality

    see, that's the funny thing. I have a team of Seven Outis and Ryoshu just to keep the generation of sins going to spam Ebony Apple, same with Blade (now Harpoon) Yi Sang being there for Sunshower. I even had Heathcliff's Seven in there some times, and 9 times outta 10 the entire comp worked. As neat as the OP ID's are for each character, you can still be interesting and have fun with the worst of it if planned well.

    I've been saying this for a long time and will say this now.
    Qcliff does not need a full envy team for max potential. I think sin-oriented teams quite literally doesn't matter. You can put Qcliff in a charge nuke team and it'll still be good for fueling his S3. Just bring IDs that has envy affinity. Secondly the only part in his kit that requires envy res is his S3, and it's not like that's an integral part.
    R Heathcliff's S1 is also not that good. Let's be honest here.

    i have both sinclair at level 40 and uptie 4 and honestly i prefer cinqlair its just way easier to manage a positive sanity id over a negative one and i can actually use ego without corroding with cinqlair, and while nigglair(yes i call him that and no one can stop me) does have a good damage his inconsistency with the rolls and being at 50%-75% to corrode everytime i use ego is just bad, and i see people using the argument that nigglair is a good clasher because of the negative coin and losing a clash helps him but the amount of clashes he loses because i cant have a 95% to roll tails just removes his damage way too much to be that good of a clasher, and cinqlair can give fragile and has a great synergy with sticky muck on mirror dungeon, and with all that said i will still probably use nigglair everytime an enemy is weak to either blunt or wrath because of big damage numbers.

    Ncorp sinclair will always be my fav for the rigged encounters where 50/50 looks like 20/80 until he starts rolling all heads with -10 sanity while the rest of the team hit all tails with +20 sanity which just give me ulcers, the fact he doesnt lose clash power when losing coins but instead "winning" clash power is the biggest seller, cause even a guaranted 18 is still better than most things, specially for those fights where losing a clash mean lose the battle (am looking at you samurai sans)

    Assuming a best case scenario for both characters, Cinq does more s3 damage than N, on top of all the other issues NClair has (unable to clash without increasing his sanity, constant sanity gain from current content (enemies dying in MD is free sanity for him), one of the worst s1s any 000 has). There really are very few situations where NClair is better than Cinq, and most require the ability to run an ID that just doesnt ever clash.

    I personally think nclair runs well in the mirror dungeon as someone who doesn't have gripfaust. It makes it so you hardly ever have to manage the sanity cost (and lose damage because of it).
    By the way, I assume you talked about it in a different video but the way the tree of knowledge ego works seems like sinclair really was made for negative coins skills, which is probably partly why nclair is so good.

  • @mauroperugini1050

    Speaking of oportunity cost, something that i think is a VERY big problem but saw no one talk about, is pequod Yi Sang
    Like, every ID has an use, even the bad ones like mariachi Sinclair (sinking) or LCCB Rodion (Middle Don envy spam), but Yi Sang already had a Poise ID before, being Blade Lineage, so both pequod and BL Yi Sang have the exact same use, except that pequod is objectively better, making BL Yi Sang completely outdated and overclassed, by a 00 ID even! It honestly makes me afraid of it happening in the future, because i spent a bunch of resources getting BL Yi Sang on UT IV and it turned out to be for nothing, just because a better option came out of nowhere.

    • @mightythorn2347
      @mightythorn2347 5 месяцев назад +2

      Eh, I wouldn't call Pequod Yi Sang outright better. Blade Lineage does A) slash damage for when we get enemies weak to it, B) actually has better rolls over all for clashing even without the power gain, and C) has a lot less risk of just losing all of his poise due to being unlucky to crit too much. All of this and both of his passives are just better

    something to point out about you saying Cinq Sinclair is a better clasher is that, because he is a positive coin ID, losing coins in a clash is a problem with him, whereas with NClair, the more coins he loses in a clash, the less likely he becomes to lose the clash because he is a negative coin ID, which leads to NClair almost never losing clashes regardless of his sanity (at least when im using him)

    Nclair always rubbed me wrong, gameplay wise. His damage WAS nice, of course, but the sanity management didn't feel fun or intuitive, and he almost felt like selling my soul. "I could run someone else for more team synergy, or the ego resources they provide, or because they like them... but Nclair exists." I must've said something like that to myself a hundred times after getting him recently. Almost like a pandora's box, I wanted him, got him, then regretted it. But now that Cinqclair is out, I can forget he ever existed, ever, forever, and never touch him again.
    Until they find a way to make him the only viable option again. Can't wait for the Aleph ego that PERFECTLY synergizes with him, and no other IDs.

    They are easy to obtain but make Bleed & Poise team becomes excessively powerful, making high difficulty level become too easy. And also makes it less likely to consider using other type teams when grinding mirror dungeon.
    Eventually, I agree with your perspective; Drip is more important than strength.
