One of my favorite comments I've seen in many online spaces - so many that I'd be hard-pressed to say where it originated from - is "1984 was supposed to be a WARNING, not a God damn instruction manual." The removing and destryoing of statues really breaks my heart. A piece of the past, an artwork, standing there to remind us of who our forfathers were and to teach us about it, either to stay true or avoid it. In both case, they have important value. Destroying them should result in the highest penalties. I'm so furious about it. Even if I dont care about the political side, I will always care for pieces of history. Its really harrowing.

Its part of normal nomenclature to refer to groups by either the masculine ("hey guys") or the majority gender (brotherhood of silence in Spain has female members). Without the astartes lore having a biological impediment preventing females, you wouldn't look at the custodes lore and assume females were an impossibility. Google son of man meaning, it means a human being. Men can be also used to refer to human beings. It's entirely allowabe within the existing lore to have rare female exceptions as custodes.

@@the13inquisitor59 Maybe. It depends on how Clans fairs tbh. If Clans is as successful as it might end up being, I expect a resurgence the likes of which has never been seen in the space before. Mechwarrior 5 was largely held back in terms of it's popularity by it's botched release, combined with it's lazy use of assets/programming, and the voice actors doing mail-in performances on release. A lot of those issues were fixed in the DLC, and the current game is actually pretty damn good. If they keep those issues that they fixed with the DLCs in 5 fixed with Clans, and fix the remaining problems they haven't touched, it could end up as a *massive* injection of capital into the franchise. A lot of younger fans don't realize just *how* big Battletech was in the 90s, and the *absurd* amount of source material that exists in the setting that has yet to be tapped into in terms of adaptations. The reason this is important, is because ultimately, modern Battletech is owned by Microsoft for all intents and purposes. IIRC, the guy who owns Topps (the ACTUAL owners of the IP and not just the video game rights) is also a pretty big player at Microsoft, which means it's more or less just different heads of the same snake. If that monster even sniffs at Battletech rising in popularity again, they'll crack down harder than GW has ever hoped to crack down on the Warhammer fandom. Unlike Warhammer, Battletech has *much* more potential for mainstream appeal - the wider lore is basically Game of Thrones in space with giant robots. No, the main thing keeping the Battletech fandom even somewhat intact is just the fact that it flies under almost everybodies radar, so the worst we have to deal with are meatballs with pink hair trying to enforce their delusions on us. That'll end hard when and if PGI strikes gold in the video games side of things.

I've also heard rumors that Amazon INSISTED on having someone that is female (and presumably black/"ethinc") in powered armor and they would only accept a Space Marine or a Custodies. Not a Sisters of Battle (which is canonical). Not an Inquisitor (which is as well). Not a Sisters of Silence (which is as well). Not even a Rogue Trader (which is as well). And to keep that sweet, sweet Amazon money coming (and I HOPE that it was also "if Amazon pulls out, we have to pay massive penalty fees and the company dies if we do"), they went for the Custodies. In the Expanse there's a female marine in power armour, Bobby Draper. She's the girlboss muscle mommy who kicks everyone's ass and also has no personality. She doesn't conflict with the lore, in fact she's essential for it. But by god she's bland, the actress is playing her perfectly because she's the generate corporate slop incarnate. That's what Amazon wants for 40k.
Bobby draper is far from bland in the books and as far as I’ve heard the adaptation is pretty faithful, so I’d guess if there’s an issue it’s probably moreso with the actress than anything else actually.
I think that’s when she is lamest, and most unconvincing (as an actor). But I am more convinced by her as her character later in the series, and personally think she would have been better acting a pilot. That scene with her and Aversarada (sp?) when she has to take them off that ship where they left the spy is really powerful stuff from them both. That she came into her own later, as someone with half a brain and good dimension either means she should never have been able to make it (inworld) as the perfect marine, or that kind of character depth wasn’t considered in the making (not a criticism, there are so many options/decisions that could be made). Decent show, I’ve been enjoying it for the most part.

The only language GW knows is money . GW need us but we don't need them. Save your money and invest in 3d printing, get one for yourself or your friend group and make your own models for pennies. Buy alternative paints, there are brands out there half the price as GW but for twice the bottle size. Get your books, rules or stories, from second hand or online for free. There's nothing GW has that we can't get elsewhere for cheaper and higher quality.

I've been saying for a bit, but Female Custodes won't be what finally gets GW to go under. It'll be what comes after, because we have seen all of this play out before. One hopes that _this time_ they'll stop before it's too late. But that time passed some four years ago, now hasn't it?
Primaris weren't THAT bad. We could certainly do without them but, at least to me, they weren't deal breakers. Just the usual shenanigans. This is different. The way they dealt with people who rightfully called them out? Yeah, this is a deal breaker. We will go underground. 3D printing, AI rendered clips or even whole movies and patreon supported pdfs.
Primaris were fine, unwelcome but fine. This is an ideological infection that will only spread and get worse if allowed and tolerated. If uncontested the 40k universe will become completely unrecognizable. The Imperium will become tolerant, inclusive and diverse. The Emperor will be gender fluid, chaos cultists will just be the same as us just with kinks we need to be tolerant of and accept them for who they are. I wish I was being disingenuous or exaggerating but at this point I’ve seen crazier happening to beloved franchises before shortly after infection.

Its part of normal nomenclature to refer to groups by either the masculine ("hey guys") or the majority gender (brotherhood of silence in Spain has female members).
Without the astartes lore having a biological impediment preventing females, you wouldn't look at the custodes lore and assume females were an impossibility.

If Clans is as successful as it might end up being, I expect a resurgence the likes of which has never been seen in the space before. Mechwarrior 5 was largely held back in terms of it's popularity by it's botched release, combined with it's lazy use of assets/programming, and the voice actors doing mail-in performances on release. A lot of those issues were fixed in the DLC, and the current game is actually pretty damn good. If they keep those issues that they fixed with the DLCs in 5 fixed with Clans, and fix the remaining problems they haven't touched, it could end up as a *massive* injection of capital into the franchise.
A lot of younger fans don't realize just *how* big Battletech was in the 90s, and the *absurd* amount of source material that exists in the setting that has yet to be tapped into in terms of adaptations.
The reason this is important, is because ultimately, modern Battletech is owned by Microsoft for all intents and purposes. IIRC, the guy who owns Topps (the ACTUAL owners of the IP and not just the video game rights) is also a pretty big player at Microsoft, which means it's more or less just different heads of the same snake.
If that monster even sniffs at Battletech rising in popularity again, they'll crack down harder than GW has ever hoped to crack down on the Warhammer fandom. Unlike Warhammer, Battletech has *much* more potential for mainstream appeal - the wider lore is basically Game of Thrones in space with giant robots.
No, the main thing keeping the Battletech fandom even somewhat intact is just the fact that it flies under almost everybodies radar, so the worst we have to deal with are meatballs with pink hair trying to enforce their delusions on us. That'll end hard when and if PGI strikes gold in the video games side of things.

Bobby draper is far from bland in the books and as far as I’ve heard the adaptation is pretty faithful, so I’d guess if there’s an issue it’s probably moreso with the actress than anything else actually.

I think that’s when she is lamest, and most unconvincing (as an actor). But I am more convinced by her as her character later in the series, and personally think she would have been better acting a pilot. That scene with her and Aversarada (sp?) when she has to take them off that ship where they left the spy is really powerful stuff from them both. That she came into her own later, as someone with half a brain and good dimension either means she should never have been able to make it (inworld) as the perfect marine, or that kind of character depth wasn’t considered in the making (not a criticism, there are so many options/decisions that could be made). Decent show, I’ve been enjoying it for the most part.

Buy alternative paints, there are brands out there half the price as GW but for twice the bottle size. Get your books, rules or stories, from second hand or online for free. There's nothing GW has that we can't get elsewhere for cheaper and higher quality.

Primaris weren't THAT bad. We could certainly do without them but, at least to me, they weren't deal breakers. Just the usual shenanigans. This is different. The way they dealt with people who rightfully called them out? Yeah, this is a deal breaker.
