    As a rookie that starts to get a grip on this game I used the Aston and the McLaren for my first 20-30h. Now I am looking for a car to commit to get my teeth really sunk in. But I couldn't choose a car. I tried the Merc, the BMW, the Aston, the McLaren, but everytime there was something, that made the grass look way greener over somewhere else. I feared the Porsche, as it was the "Pro"-Car, never really driven it. Fed up with jumping between cars and not getting consistent with either, I started a little project. Drive every car for 10 Laps around Spa, default aggressive setup, and write notes afterwards to get a feeling for what the cars do, on a basic level. That way I can rule out a few I really don't like (looking at you Godzilla), then a more technical track, then rain, etc. That way I get a car that I somewhat like in all situations, and commit to it for a few months to become a better driver in general. Just finished the Spa-Part and starting today with the Nürburgring. What REALLY surprised me was that I got into the Porsche, and it just felt right. Like the car was doing what I want it to do, it cut me when I knew in advance that I am provoking it, and it was so much fun to drive it. I even extended my 10 Lap-Counter to 14 Laps, and that while I was getting tired from driving so much that day. Maybe I am one of THOSE people that you hear about, that get into the 911 and it just clicks.

    I'm starting to change the base of my Porsche setup with the time, and I play like 400h with the car. Usually I put front dumpers softer (8 compresion 10 extension) than rear (rear expansion 12-13). But now I trying the oposite, and now, the corner entry is a nightmare for oversteer but if you control it, the car is pointed for much better exit, and you can smash the trhottle with much less understeer. But the rear is too delicated.
    Use the rear wing wihtout fear, doesn't matter to lose 3-6km/h on top speed for have much better grip and speed on mid corners. If I have slipstrem from a BMW and he don't, I don't get enought speed for overtake just for speed, but on corners... muahahahaha.

    • @pedrosilvaproductions
      @pedrosilvaproductions 2 года назад

      Thats what I feel with the porsche. Its mega fast, but in those mid speed corners... That rear end doesnt want to hold. I have to increase the rear wing otherwise its Impossible to hold it

    • @Danidurga
      @Danidurga 2 года назад

      @@pedrosilvaproductions Is the worst thing on Porsche, is the slowest on top speed even with low wing, for that reason is better to exploid his best point that is corner speed. But on straights, that is one of most important zones in all tracks... porsche is not easy XD

    I just started in ACC, and I'm a Porsche e n j o y e r irl, and I find that if you treat it like you'd treat an old air-cooled 911, it's pretty friendly. Don't lift through the corners (even if it means you run a bit wide occasionally), limit trail braking, and youve got heaps of traction so use it to make up time. it is mid engined but it's rear biased so drive it like a rear engined car

  • @needsmoreboosters4264

    IMO, it's all about the tuning. It can make or break this car; a good tune can be one of the fastest things on the grid, but a bad one isn't just slow, it's undrivable and dangerous. You need to play with it in practice and get things right before really taking it out.

    This was the car that I started with in ACC, and I am glad that I did. All the others seem so simple to drive well now. One thing I learned, is that investing time in a good setup for each track is paramount with any of the 911s. Your setup can truly make or break your race. Once you get it right... it's a really fast, rewarding car to drive.

    Thank you!! I love this car but it can be so hard to be consistent with it.
    I am a lot faster with it (hotlap) but I am a lot more consistent with the bmw m4 gt3.
    I think the Porsche is so a live it makes it so fun and more challenging.
    I love this car so much!

  • @FretFreak02
    @FretFreak02 9 месяцев назад +1

    It is so utterly difficult to fully master the Porsche. It just takes one millisecond of lifting off the brake too fast in a corner, and there goes the feckin’ car. But, when you are in that sweet spot of focus, and all just goes in perfect alignment… nothing beats is.
    That said, I have a better feeling with the heavier front engined cars, like the AMG GT3, Vantage V8 and Boatly. I can pound fast and consistent laps together for hours, without making mistakes. Never drove the Porsche for more than an hour. It’s just too exhausting.

    I drive the 992 GT3 R and love it. You must respect its butt. I drive with no TC. It's nimble and has great acceleration. It loses on the straights so you have to make it up in the corners. Won't drive any other car.

    Bar none, the Porsche, as a brand is my favorite car to drive across all sims.
    That said, I believe that all sims for the past 20+ years have made the Porsche too difficult to drive. Before 'you' crucify me - read on.
    I'm stating that based on 25+ years of track day experience with the 911.
    No, the Porsche is not an 'easy' car to drive (it's a race car and everything is relative).
    Concurrently, the learning curve to drive a virtual version is extremely difficult because the Porsche's handling changes as a race progresses and that is tied directly to setup.
    It requires finesse and most importantly a feel for how the car is reacting at any specific time. Q already touched on the basic salient differences between the Porsche and other cars. No sim can really give you the feeling that transmits from the car to the driver and this is especially true with the Porsche.
    I believe that the early Porsche's reputation as an unstable, easily damaged but fast car has been adopted into sim racing development.
    This can be easily dispelled in the modern era. As an example: watch the battle between the two Porsche teams for first place in GTDP at the end of last weeks Rolex 24.

      The iRacing Porsche 911 GT3 is a lot more stable in comparison to the version in ACC, which makes it feel more competitive on the GT3 grid.
      When I watch real life Porsche GT3 battles, it's indeed obvious that the Porsche is not some unstable, undriveable car, it actually looks like a very well balanced car.

      The current 911 generation is the 992, previously 991, and before that 997 and 996.

    I don’t like the pork IN ACC. In other games like ac I like the car a lot. It is my favorite gt3 car after the Chevrolet Corvette c7. But in acc I hate the car, because it drive terrible. It oversteers to infinity. The first time I drove it was on spa and i was driving with the standard present. It oversteered in turn 18 and I jumped.

    • @Danidurga
      @Danidurga 2 года назад

      There is different ways to "cut" the oversteer, but then you gain a massive understeer on fast corners exits. Low the rear and put the front dumpers softer than the rear. Will be a bit tricky when realese the breake for roll the car and some kerbs libe the last inside one on Ascari will be a lotery, if you miss for 30cm the "angle attack" you fly XD
      For me is impossible drive the Porsche in Spa with the standard or agressive pre-setups, you can't make orouge full trhottle!! XD

I have 99 since time ago, today drops to 98 because the last 2-3 days was very bad, lot of noobs and more mistakes than usually from me, but I don0t know... just start from behind, avoid the lap one jungle and finish the race. Just with that you have SA99 too fast.
