I love how any time he's asked about an old role, he always cracks up about some aspect of it. Seems like a genuinely nice guy.
i had the pleasure of serving him and then randomly meeting him later that night. hes awesome. he is what every celebrity should strive to be.
@@brandocalrissian3294 That's awesome.
Disney trained.
I love Kurt Russell.
I met him years ago working an event he was doing and he legit is like talking to your laid back uncle. Dude is a legit gem
Kurt Russell = Legend
And his epic beard
Yes he's one of the real ones
I love Kurt but I also love the fact he paved the way for snake from metal gear
100% one of my favourite ever action movie actors
Kurt Russel, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and many more. 80s had some of the best fictional strong, stoic male characters
The final scene is one of the greatest mysteries of a Hollywood movie
Carpenter knows the answer and has said so. He just won't say what the answer IS. I guess he used to hang out with Carly Simon too much in the old days.
@@Theomitehe said in an interview when asked "is the answer in the film if you look hard enough?" He said yes. Childs is the thing. Pay attention to right before the power goes out and he's at the window. Then watch what the camera pans to : the basement where Blair thing is, with the door open behind Childs and from the basement with a jacket missing where it once was next to Childs.
@@Dravianpn02 That's my conclusion as well, but you never know what Carpenter has in his head.
@@Theomite well, in this context it's pretty clear. It's Childs, if we follow the cinematography and that scene.
@@Dravianpn02 Again, very likely, but Carpenter has said that Dean Cundey is full of shit regarding his lighting clues. I don't know if he's just being a dick or he actually disagrees.
Kurt’s a very smart actor .
Figured out the ending years ago... :)

That ending was ingenious and terrifying
Even beyond the fact that one of them might be the thing… if not both. But the fact that eventually the fire is going to die down and they’re going to freeze to death. After everything that happened they’re not even scared. They’re just like.. at least this will be over soon
@@JSawmill63unless one of them is the Thing, in which case it will survive dormant until someone else discovers it.
Ya it was
@@JSawmill63ya own ift rhem is the thing
Great movie with a great ending.
McCready was a buckaroo, the hat fit perfectly.
@@Cinemaphile7783 So wrong it was right.
We all love the sombrero
One of the best alien/horror movies ever. Top five
Ya
Number 1.
As the Mexicans would say "Numero Uno"
Most down to earth actor. Legendary performances and characters
He was great in 'The Barefoot Executive'!
Tombstone man. Tombstone.
“Where’s Wyatt”
“Down by the river. Walking on water”
Saw the movie for the first time yesterday . Bad ass movie
Welcome to the club. Glad you enjoyed it!
Welcome to the cool kids group...."they live" should be on your list if you ain't seen it
No digas estupideces la película the thing es una joya del género del terror excelente película .
I'm jealous. I wish I could watch it again with full ignorance to enjoy it like that again.
But it still gets better each time you watch it.
@@marioreyes7996 amigo … “bad ass” es una expresión americano por algo buena o genial
Always enjoy listening to Kurt Russell talk seems like such a cool dude
Amazing cast; fantastic script; groundbreaking visual effects. An all time classic.
That film still stands up today. The story, pacing and acting is just spot on.
And the special effects. Far better having practical effects, and prosthetics than cgi.
I have never been in love with a movie before or after, like I have been with this one (Except maybe Predator). What an absolute work of art ❤
Alians is amazing. So many good movies from that time.
DITTO!
To me, it was a lot of character actors all doing a great job behind Russell, who also did a great job acting out a great story.
@@MgtowBarbarian "THE THING" WAS A WORK OF ART. LIKE DA VINCI'S OR MICHAELANGELO. 1 OF THE BEST MOVIES I HAVE EVER SEEN.
@@jerrylattimore9232I agree. It was fantastic.
Coolest guy in Hollywood hands down .
He is the most happy laughing ACTOR EVER!!!
Can't say enough about this movie! The cast , the special effects, best horror movie of the 80's!
J Carpenter's, The Thing _ Is " Gone with the wind" of Sci Fi/ Horror.
It is fantastic the suspense is second to none
I've just grabbed a novel written by Alan Dean Foster, based on a screenplay by Bill Lancaster, for this cinematic masterpiece. It has been absolutely delicious! Men consumed one by one by The Thing. As a huge fan of science fiction and horror movies, John Carpenter's "The Thing," (1982), Ridley Scott's "Alien" (1979), and George A. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" (1968) are my all-time favorites.
Absolute masterpiece of a movie…… flawless
The Thing. So good.
a great actor in a legendary film. carpenter crafted a masterpiece here.
The music, the editing, the well placed humor, make this the best non-CGI special effects top sci-fi movie ever
Perfect ending choice!!! Absolutely perfect and my personal favorite movie.
Kurt is such a humble and down to earth guy
Over 40 years old, and still one of the best (possibly THE best) sci-fi horror flicks I’ve ever seen. Own the disc. Watch it every year around Halloween. Carpenter and Russell together are amazing.
He is such a studd...love his acting ..he makes any movie better...
Love how he laughs a lot while hes talking
John Carpenters "Thing" is an excellent example that a re-make can be as good as the original with the right elements: story, director, actors, technical. Kurt Russel is such a brilliant actor that his presence helped make the Thing the special film it was
I almost leaped out of my seat cheering when Russell delivered that line. One of the greatest endings of any film horror or otherwise
Best horror film ever
I was 13 when this came out and saw it on HBO and VHS. Been at least 30 years since I've seen it. Need to watch it again. A masterpiece that everyone involved in can/could be proud of.
I know I want to see it again. You should read the short story The Things written from the alien's perspective. it's online and free to read. I enjoyed it.
I HAVE IT IN DVD & VHS. A JOHN & KURT RUSSELL MASTERPIECE. PERFECT.
Can see here why Tarantino admires Russell & has worked with him more than once. The best actors are great collaborators, can check their ego & ultimately, are story tellers. How Russell wrangled control & got Tombstone finished is legendary
He worked with Bruce Willis and Kurt Russell because he couldn´t get Mickey Rourke. He doesn´t admire him, he was a second choice.
Russell was second choice 3 times? He’s been in 3 QT films & would’ve been in 4, but he dropped out of Django Unchained before production
@@staxmantim What´s your IQ dude ? You also, clearly don´t know what the hell you´re talking about
This is my dad’s favorite movie
Awesome movie
“You gotta be f’ing kidding”
Such a great scene..
The thing says to itself.
"now gentlemen, I know you've been through a lot but I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!!!"
Palmer, who says this, is already infected by the thing.
“I hate if we’re wrong about him?”
“Then we’re wrong!”
The ending is perfect.....the hat too.
Can't say I've ever heard a disparaging word about Kurt Russell. What a great career.
Yup the hat was perfect!
Awesome Movie !! I love his Sombrero!😅
One of the best movies ever made, not just one of the best horror movies. I never get tired of watching this movie.
I was fucking hysterical over the hat bro
I honestly needed to hear his thoughts on the hat
At the time "The Thing" came out, I was about 12. So I wouldn't know this till years later (after I became an Army aviator, myself). Russell pretty much played the perfect jaded helicopter pilot who got stuck on the ground in this movie. The sombrero and stuff like pouring the whiskey into the computer represent just the right amount of "controlled crazy" to give him the credibility he needed
*smirk 😏
It's too bad movies like this can't be made anymore.
I watched the movie like a dozen times and it feels like I need to go back and rewatch it's been a long time.
IKR... Been at least 30 years for me.
I love The Thing.....my teenage kids love it, too.
Wow, the sombrero had it's own chair!
I always thought that both Mac and Childs were human at the end. In effect they won the war (by destroying the Thing) but lost the battle (by freezing to death). It returns to what Mac said when taping himself: No one trusts anyone anymore. So they do the only thing that they can do, watch each other freeze.
Kurt Russel + Carpenter = magic.
I never once questioned Macs hat until someone pointed it out recently, I always thought it suited his character as being a bit of a rogue
God I love this guy. So handsome and a great personality. Underrated actor. He deserves so many awards from so many movies!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Goldie is one lucky woman!
He was great in 'The Barefoot Executive'!
A horror classic for me. In my top 5 of horror
Hot and cool hat.
😂 you can tell Kurt got great sense humor 😜
Kurt is totally cool.
Best movie ever!!!
The whole cast was fantastic including Jed,( the wolf dog), the creatures still haven't been beat...and Kurt Russell is gorgeous 😉😂
One great director
One awesome leading man
One enormous sombrero

Awesome movie in the early 80’s
That was a perfect loop holy shit!
Kurt Russell is just the best.
Kurt is badass.
I remember sitting in the theater at this movie in the scene with the sled dogs...thanks for all your films😂
Kurt is one of my all time favorite actors
That giant hat is iconic
Kurt, the Sombrero by itself looks stupid but when you put it on it's great.
He did alot of John's movies. Kurt is such amazing actor and so handsome too 👍👍👍👍
The thing: Is the best
One of my favorite actors of all time
Freaking love this guy.
This dude will still make your girlfriend blush when he’s in his 90s
The dude is absolutely fascinating, could listen to him talk shop all day its so badass.
The sombrero was a great touch to make it so entertaining and the best thriller since They Live
Oh yeah. Such a good charismatic person. He is always spot on.
Love Kurt Russell he's just an awesome guy
He juuuuuuuust about says “I’m not fucking wearing that hat, that’s insane”, but he kinda coughs/glosses over it beautifully.
Kurt Russell is the boss. Love pretty much all of his roles. A legend who gets better with age
Very underrated film, it was ahead of it's time.
I’m so glad my Dad had me watch this movie. Definitely in my top 3 favorite horror movies
Carpenter has said that it didn't end well for humanity....in other words, the thing got away.
Childs is the Thing is very much a possibility. Read the short story The Things, which is written from the alien's perspective. It's pretty good.
@tiffanymichaels2429 ,
Who Goes There, the story that The Thing from Another World and The Thing are both based on, has an optimistic ending.
I've loved Kurt Russell since he & I were both little kids! And he's one of the great child actors that didn't get wayward in Hollywood. Bravo! 💖
Such an amazing movie. Kurt killed it!
or did he?
The Thing is my favourite movie of all time
Your a Legend playing a Legendary Character
The sombrero is a character unto itself
Absolute legend. No one is cooler than Kurt Russell.
What an awesome movie. Kurt Russell is hands down my favorite actor. And the black guy at the end I always thought was the thing
Love this actor
I envy Kirt. The perfect allround bloke.
Awesome movie! Awesome character!
John Carpenter’s best film by far !
I absolutely 💯❤ love this movie. He's a timeless actor and I basically grew up seeing him in amazing movies.
He's Perfect ❤️ Cheer's 🍻🍺🍻
One of the best endings of all time.
That’s why he’s a f*cking legend…it’s all just natural to him. The man is one of the greatest Hollywood ever gave us! God bless Kurt Russel and John carpenter too!!!
Legendary actor in a legendary movie
My favourite film and my favourite actor ❤
