You can tell she really loves these animals and she wouldn’t harm any of them. People will allow their loved ones to be embalmed and shown in a Wake once they’ve passed and I believe this is what this girl is doing as. She wants to take a horrible and sad situation and make it beautiful and she does her art to ensure these animals’ lives and remembered and she gives them a purpose even after they are gone. She knows that her art can really help others deal with grief, she allows them to see death as something more than just an end to a life and for people to attack her for this makes no sense and the commenters saying evil things, they are the real monsters for not respecting her work and her art. I 100% believe what she does is ethical and amazing. If something is not for you, then it’s not for YOU. Don’t do it, don’t watch it, but leave artists alone because if it’s not for you it’s for someone who can find the beauty in it and enjoy it.
My dad taught biology for 25 years and his room was full of taxidermied (mostly by him) animals, articulated skeletons, and specimens preserved in formaldehyde. A lot of commenters don't understand/comprehend that these can be used for educational purposes for students who may have never seen the animals and learn of their biology. Hands on science is the best, also displaying animals in their habitat can show students how they can hide in plain sight, such as snakes. A lot of the negative commenters probably never had a teacher put so much effort and enthusiasm into their passion that inspired generations of students to learn and love and perhaps pursue a career in biology. This was a fascinating video and I loved it.
The way her voice changes at the near end as she talks about taking care of dying kittens made me think twice and acknowledge she's not weird after all.
It's a extremely heartbreaking experience to have an animal die in your hands, you can literally feel the life vanishing into thin air. It feels as if it descends from the top to bottom, in a vibrating, ring movement and then all of a sudden, emptiness and serenity followed by a rather large dose of sadness and despair. The only thing that helps is, knowing that these creatures didn't have to die alone. Some animals prefer to die alone, that is also difficult to accept but it has to be respected. This was fascinating! I so love the craftsmanship in this work and the little clothes and poses that the female taxidermist uses are completely charming. I’m not sure it is something I would want to do, but I respect that it is a craft unto itself.
You can rlly see the passion of mickey for taxidermy and i truly respect that, she does a job most people are disgusted by {i dont mean to offend anybody}
I'm disappointed that they focused so heavily on gender and age. I would have accepted a little more info about the process of taxidermy, like whats too dead to stuff?. How do they keep the fur from falling apart?.
I have so much respect for this industry after watching this video! It was super interesting. I just have one question, is it not a required rule to wear gloves in the taxidermy profession? For the protection of the person performing the service. I’ve seen a lot of gloveless hands, long nails and jewelry. I just figured a lot of animals carry diseases. No judgment just genuinely curious ☺️
It is not as far as I know, I'm not professional taxidermist but I do handle dead wildlife. I will cut up mice without gloves, but I'll end up washing my hands afterwards. I'm sure they do wash their hands at least!! I have a lot of respect for it as well too, very interesting.
Oh wow. This gets me in the feels. I rescued a pregnant cat who turned out to have feline leukemia virus and passed it to her kittens, all of whom passed away at 1.5 to 2 years old
Dani Tullis "In case you haven’t noticed, I'm weird.....I’m a weirdo....I don't fit in. And I don't want to fit in. Have you ever seen me without this stupid hat on? That's weird."
As a teenager studying taxidermy as a possible future career and also making it my last year school project, I'd love for more schools to open up in argentina so people can appreciate the wonders of preserving nature in its most majestic way and learn from the evolution it took to get where they are now.
I love taxidermy so much! it's important to scientists as preservation of specimens while being a beautiful art that helps bring a second life to animals. ive recently been considering going into taxidermy myself :)
the last part where she talked abt taking care of the kittens before they died rlly hits me because I've been in the same shoes. sometimes in july-august 2019 someone dumped 5 premature kittens at the back of my house. they weren't even the premature kittens you'd find if you googled 'premature kittens'. they were even younger.. i knew they weren't gonna live long but me and my siblings did our best to take care of them. after the 4 died and i burried them all, we were left with one kitten. it actually died in my hands while i was watching Moana. ever since I haven't associated that movie with good memories. or even those diy warming pads made out of rice and a sock, they just remind me of all 5 dead kittens
Ordinary people: perfectly and safetly burried their loving dead pet baby animals. Taxidermist: let u live again my dear animals... just lemme put out my materials..
If The interviewer wasn’t comfortable with exploring the taxidermy practice, ya should’ve found one who was; her disgusted attitude towards the taxidermy specialist was a bit rude. The practice can definitely be uncomfortable for some but that doesn’t excuse rude behavior.
The problem is that the presenter is presenting the whole idea of taxidermy with a very closed mind as she does not really understand why and has not bothered to research the subject before presenting this show. Some people get their animals taxidermy because that is what brings them comfort in this cruel world . Yes the process is painful but their beloved has passed away and it’s better than burying them or burning them . One can die in peace knowing their beloved pet who meant the world to them and no humans can ever replace that gap will be buried with them when they die. Do not make assumptions without fully understanding why some people choose to taxidermist their beloved pets or anything. There is great learning to be gained from this.
You can tell not a lot of people in these comments grew up hunting, once you’ve skinned enough deer rabbit and squirrels it doesn’t bother you as much lol.
i kind of wish i got my duck taxidermized when she died of old age. i miss her a lot, but instead i opted to plant her in a large plantpot. portable grave so i can take it wherever i go.
Vulture Culture is a main hobby of mine .. made a few wet specimens but mostly bones and skulls I find in the woods. Really thinking about trying this! Already frozen from the pet store should work. I could never use a dead pet or kill anything.. Lantern Fly Lives Matter !!!!
i think the reason of taxidermy is for science. when i was a undergrad student at biology, I used to make those works and was fine, in fact taxidermist need so creative and body should look like a origin body of animal . It’s part of science tho
I dont like how Taxidermists have been given a creepy and bad vibe. All they do is make an animal look live again and sometimes owners just want their pet back and to be with them.

He probably knows nothing about her. And from the sound of it she sounds more freelance than in a shop. So he probably thought she was new to it.
@@OpossumOnTheMoon most of the old guys always assume we're newbies. It's a problem.
Besides all the hate comments and people who should have read the title, don't stop uploading stuff like this. This was entertaining, and who says this channel has to be just one thing?
"But, without understanding the context behind something, you don't get it." 🤍
Gurl.. not without protective gloves touching dead animals.
This was fascinating! I so love the craftsmanship in this work and the little clothes and poses that the female taxidermist uses are completely charming. I’m not sure it is something I would want to do, but I respect that it is a craft unto itself.
+nicolefields Agreed! Thanks for leaving your input here and for watching!!
I love this girls passion. Taxidermy is a passion it's not gross
You can rlly see the passion of mickey for taxidermy and i truly respect that, she does a job most people are disgusted by {i dont mean to offend anybody}
I'm disappointed that they focused so heavily on gender and age. I would have accepted a little more info about the process of taxidermy, like whats too dead to stuff?. How do they keep the fur from falling apart?.
Far too complex of an art form to cover technically in a 13 minute video, for sure.
A lot of texdermist don't wear gloves cuase it's a safety iusse.gloves can increase the risk of getting cut by cuasing a slip.
I remember how we used to dissect a dead puppy for our Biology Class. It's a thrilling and traumatizing experience at the same time.
A puppy - excuse me !
No no. No. No
Omg. I would be terrified to try this, her work is beautiful
Oh wow. This gets me in the feels. I rescued a pregnant cat who turned out to have feline leukemia virus and passed it to her kittens, all of whom passed away at 1.5 to 2 years old
the bangs told me what i needed to know
Which is? Lol

As a teenager studying taxidermy as a possible future career and also making it my last year school project, I'd love for more schools to open up in argentina so people can appreciate the wonders of preserving nature in its most majestic way and learn from the evolution it took to get where they are now.
Forever love watching Mickey work!
I love taxidermy so much! it's important to scientists as preservation of specimens while being a beautiful art that helps bring a second life to animals. ive recently been considering going into taxidermy myself :)
I am really grossed out but its so intersting to watch
the last part where she talked abt taking care of the kittens before they died rlly hits me because I've been in the same shoes. sometimes in july-august 2019 someone dumped 5 premature kittens at the back of my house. they weren't even the premature kittens you'd find if you googled 'premature kittens'. they were even younger.. i knew they weren't gonna live long but me and my siblings did our best to take care of them. after the 4 died and i burried them all, we were left with one kitten. it actually died in my hands while i was watching Moana. ever since I haven't associated that movie with good memories. or even those diy warming pads made out of rice and a sock, they just remind me of all 5 dead kittens
My question is how did the taxidermy find the dead animals?
I wanna know how Mickey's 29 but looks 19. That's the real magic here
Maria Cuevas Ikkkk
She sapped those animal's leftover life essence
What a conversation piece it will be when someone spots a dead rat dressed with an Afro on the coffee table 😂💀
My friend and I are planning on learning taxidermy together oneday so watching these videos give me more passion
I loved this so much! I really would love to take a taxidermy class one day
taxidermy is one of the most interesting things ever to happen in history istg
RUclips recommended this. I didn’t search for it😐
Great video Refinery! Something I've always wanted to try!!
+karen Thanks for watching!! Let us know if you do!
Came to the comments and found exactly what I thought I’d find. A bunch of people creeped out lol
yeah. it's really disappointing
“Watch your head and mine too” 😭
Ordinary people: perfectly and safetly burried their loving dead pet baby animals.
Taxidermist: let u live again my dear animals... just lemme put out my materials..
what they do is pretty cool but the process had me shooketh
+rainadvin For real!
If The interviewer wasn’t comfortable with exploring the taxidermy practice, ya should’ve found one who was; her disgusted attitude towards the taxidermy specialist was a bit rude. The practice can definitely be uncomfortable for some but that doesn’t excuse rude behavior.
I loved this, it was so nicely made.
'No animals were harmed' except the fact that many of the animals shown have been hunted...
How did you know? Did you see it yourself? Dont make stupid assumptions.
@@OxOx_XoXo1 Umm, the man in the shop speaks about him and others in the shop hunting the animals??
"during the making of this film" you have to read the rest of the sentence honey
They weren't causally connected to the filming 🎥.
I see this as a educational video and I actually am happy to watch this video
So nobody bout to talk about them bangs
I feel like its such a death worker cliche lmao. Caitlin Doughty from the channel Ask a Mortician has the same hairstyle
She has them? In this video, anyway. It’s quite old. But people are allowed to have hair different from yours 🤷🏼♀️
All the female taxidermists similar age to her have ‘the fringe’
I think they’re cute
Pretty Thoughtful ibnever said they were ugly
This was so interesting! I love her passion for her work.
This is oddly fascinating.
+pelviselvis We think so, too!
We still need these people. I hunt with my grandpa, and he doesnt know if people still do this. It's good to know the art is still alive.
trilemma dilemma stuffing a poor innocent dead animal isn’t art. Or is what Ed Gein did art too?
@@siennad587 they were already dead
You hunt ???? Why are you so evil??
@Natalie Chen yeah ik😊
@Natalie Chen it's ok😊 I've done that before
This is soo fascinating! I'd love to take one of her classes
I don't understand why but this video was really beautiful
+samlace So glad you thought so!!
You can tell not a lot of people in these comments grew up hunting, once you’ve skinned enough deer rabbit and squirrels it doesn’t bother you as much lol.
the interviewer is just rude and disrespectful. like what did you expect its literally taxi-dermy. do your research.
Ikr? She didn’t seem to try to act respectful, but of course I don’t know what was going on behind the scenes
Bach's *Jesus Bleibet Meine Freude* at the beginning of the video sprinkled a really enchanting effect throughout the rest of the vid.
I love animals but even tho these animals are dead it was still hard to watch their little bodies get cut up. But glad she’s young with a passion.
I love the way this is edited! It reminds me of a Wes Anderson film.
If it’s hard to watch just tell yourself it’s a cake.
i kind of wish i got my duck taxidermized when she died of old age. i miss her a lot, but instead i opted to plant her in a large plantpot. portable grave so i can take it wherever i go.
Is beauty to transform it but I wouldn't try do taxidermy
Vulture Culture is a main hobby of mine .. made a few wet specimens but mostly bones and skulls I find in the woods. Really thinking about trying this! Already frozen from the pet store should work. I could never use a dead pet or kill anything.. Lantern Fly Lives Matter !!!!
*you’re watching this video in bed, with a straight face, and a pounding heart*

As a person who’s TERRIFIED of taxidermy I have no clue why I watched this.
like why did I decide to scar myself 💀 I freaked out looking at the poor dead animals :(
I still don’t understand why people want dead animals in their home..
she kinda look like Kendall Jenner
Md Mansoor Anyall Kenny joyner
The natural version without plastic
i think the reason of taxidermy is for science. when i was a undergrad student at biology, I used to make those works and was fine, in fact taxidermist need so creative and body should look like a origin body of animal . It’s part of science tho
"alL tHE bABy ANIMaLs In mY frEeZEr"
Me: excuse you
I dont like how Taxidermists have been given a creepy and bad vibe. All they do is make an animal look live again and sometimes owners just want their pet back and to be with them.
Your passion comes through, especially when talking about the kittens
I am disturbed and amazed at the same time 🤯
This is so interesting!!
I can imagine a rich family taxidermize their most loyal pet dog or cat.
imagine if your body was treated like that when you died.
