A Slaughter To Prevail song would be awesome!
Excellent as usual! Can’t wait to see you cover some Chris Turner my man! We all know you can do this!!! A little tribute for Taylor Hawkins would do it as well. Let’s goooo!!
So good!! 🤘
Would be cool to see you play Bodom after midnight paint the sky with blood
Muestra la metralla del doble pedal hermano
I know people give Lars a hard time these days. You have to give him credit for the epic music he helped create back in the 80’s and 90’s.
I think he is the backbone of Metallica together with James. And also, in my opinion he proves that more is not always better. He really drums in service of the song.
Until he does shit like St. Anger. Needs punched in the throat for thinking those drums sound remotely good
@@rutgerjansen totally man!
His only problem is he tryst to put to much into the songs which throws him out of time live
His problem has always been his timing.
I've never seen anyone play that fast and tight looking so relaxed and in control. Brilliant technique as a drummer!!!!
He is robocop
You should watch Ken Bedene (Aborted) and Kevin Paradis (Benighted)
@Jeff Carr I think you just have a hemroid that's bothering you. Get it fixed. You will feel better.
@Jeff Carr when are you posting your cover?
@Jeff Carr but you show off your mustang lmao post your cover so everyone can laugh at it Jeff
2:45 is just art
That was insanely good
I don't like it better overall but that part was badass 100%
Lars was exactly what was needed at the time. I heard this on a cassette player in the 80's while skating with my buddies. You can't recreate that experience.
Yes!!
yes, YES! It's exactly like that!!! No shame on him, he did amazing
I would say that Metallica was what Lars needed at that time.
This cover is much better and more complex then what lars plays on this song
I still own a cassette copy of Puppets, from that year! Still in decent shape, but I've since repurchased the early Metallica albums as digital downloads. KEA to Justice, bought all of them on cassette when they originally released and still have them today. :)
Just holy fuck. Between this and Eloy's cover, proving 80s were still heavy as fuck and groovy too. So good.
This is basically one of the peak metal songs so yeah
Who said 80s metal was or are not still heavy?
@@sleepyblade you want a list? How many people trash Metallica? They've been called sell outs since '84.
@@hatethreeoneofficial first metal song I ever heard. On vinyl in '89. Changed my life.
@@crankfastle8138 it was a retoric question, I don't listen to that people
Your technique is flawless - and the drums are tuned perfectly for this song. Sounds amazing!
I so much enjoyed listening to this! The dude is an amazing drummer! The song sounds like it is reborn!
I've been listening to this song for more than 30 years.... Your playing on this song has given it a whole new lease of life for me - thank you. Amazing 👏
^ this sums it up for me.
This is beautifully filmed. No crazy angles, no weird back and forth motion. Just one continuous flowing take at a great angle slowly panning around.
First time seeing him?
I hate it when they sensationalize camera angles to try and make it more energetic or exciting. That’s only needed when it would otherwise be boring. Regardless for me, when they start flashing and quick panning the screen and all that other bullshit is when I move on.
That fill at 2:45! So good! Thanks for the video!
Totally insane!
my brains still not sure what's going on there, but it likes it.
This dude dont even sweat playing this cover, IMO he is the best drummer todate i ve seen in the internet, and i love his personality from the life story he shared. Good luck to this dude, wish him a good health and success.
It's 7:01am and I'm drinking coffee getting ready to go to work after sleeping for 4 hours. This clip gave me more energy and good vibes than the coffee, for real. And I am a huge fan of Lars, in fact starting to play drums because of his drumming in late 80's. Thank you for picking this bad ass song and playing it so beautifully.
Me at 5am every morning 🤘🏻
Value your sleep man. You need it more than you know.
コイツ動きが人間じゃない❗マシンだ😂
His playing and approach gives the song a whole new perspective, honoring at the same time the original performance. Simply amazing.
@@molochz Well... no. My comment was on Estepario's performance. Actually, Lars' drumming has not only saved his own life (big time), but also many others' as well. It's not about his technical side only, it's about what he has offered to music in general. He is not the best drummer in the world, but he is definitely one of the most influential drummers in rock history.
"New perspective" means "bad perspective".
Hes much better than Lars imho.
@@molochz serious musician, I guess (are 12 years of conservatory as a percussionist enough?) and metal drummer here, and I hold a lot of respect for Lars. Any musician should be only judged for their technical abilities. Bob Dylan is an awful singer and still has some of the most important songs in history, Charlie Watts was even worse than Lars and still the Rolling Stones influenced many generations, bands like Green Day or Nirvana where none of the members were technically proficient made an insane amount of 90s kids pick a guitar, bass or drums and start learning. In fact, if you ask most of these technical prodigies about their favorites, they would cite people who are, in theory, much worse players. Music is not a craftmanship, it's twice as much about feelings and passion as it is about technique and skills
i would rather listen to this than lars any day
thats so fucking amazing to see, started playing drums half a year ago and i still have to highly concentrate myself on playing weezers undone, this looks so effortless (but yeah i know how much practise this needs to be that precise). simply amazing and inspiring...
Outstanding performance brother! The tempo and energy is so addicting makes you want more! Keep up the great work man! Rock on!!!!!
Does anyone else think the intro to Battery is one of the most epic things Metallica ever recorded? Wish they had more songs with that kind of proggy feel.
I still get shocked at the contrast between the intro to Fight Fire and the actual song itself.
Yeh this was the golden age of Metallica.Justice,Kill,Ride and Master albums are all you ever really need.Fantastic music in there own special way
@@SR-yp3eg I kind of agree... Eventhough The Black Album, in all its rock n'roll simplicity is actually also great. But yeah, Master might be the best metal album of all time.
I love it! I also love the intro (and buildup) to Orion. Gets me excited every time I listen to it.
Ckeckout this intro from Haken's Charlie Griffiths' solo album. Made me immediately think of the Battery intro but it's a cool track either way. ruclips.net/video/NbfUIWFcJCU/видео.html
2:46... Holy Bejesus!!! That was freaking AWESOME
Hahaha yep! That made me fall off my chair and spit out my morning coffe!!!!!!
This isn't just a cover. It's a re-imagining and...... foooooook brother. Neither Lars nor Joey has anything on you dude. You are a phenom.
Well Lars has 100's of million of dollars, 40 years worth of catalog music, and has been seen live by millions of people in nearly every country. So I'd say he has quite a few "things" on this dude.
@@-Primer- he means in terms of skill. You can do all those things without having much skill. Now, I'm not a Lars hater by any means and I think all the hate he gets about being a "bad drummer" is not justified whatsoever. But I'm just saying I think you misinterpreted his comment
@-Primer- both Lars and Joey were essential for what they did. There was a time when I thought Lars was the greatest drummer in the world. I had a small understanding that all music is inspired by those who came before.. just like this guy is. No hate meant.
Pretty sure covers can include re imaginings
@@easternag16 No disrespect to any artist. But when people told SRV that he played Little Wing better than Hendrix, SRV was quick to shut that down saying that the true talent was writing the song to begin with and that anyone can add onto what's already been created. So many guitarists can play the guitar "better" than Hendrix. Yet, none of them will ever be in consideration when talking about who is the greatest.
GREAT NOSTALGIC MEMORY. When I was a kid the only way to see a Guitar Center or Sam Ash was to go to the city... I'm in Chicago. I start playing the acoustic intro to Battery. ACROSS THE STORE someone begins playing the harmony, and we progress through the song.
I really appreciate you keeping the double bass break as true to the original as possible. proof that you know exactly when to add the sauce and when not to.
we all know he is an excellent drummer.. I think the song is well done I think some of it's overplayed no need for a ride cymbal l at all this is just my opinion whether you like it or not I think some of the double bass is not needed and you definitely need the times in this song what she doesn't use I think that really enhances the fills.. I think when the double bass really kicks in towards the end that is intense however I do believe this guy is using triggers. I am not a big fan of triggers at all..
Totally over played the whole song. Its like ok dude we know you're good but you ruined the song.
@@notaliberalfromcali6245 most metal songs are overplayed by drummers.
40 years of drumming and Metallica, and this is the tightest and most relaxed rendition I have witnessed! Incredible!
Check the cover with Jhon Henry from Darkest Hour and the guitar player from Morst Principium Est is maybe one of the best covers of battery bro lml
@@scandal3107I checked. Very good 😎
ikr? tight as hell and he makes it look like it's EASY
So True...
fucin eh
Sigo alucinando con el control , la velocidad , el ritmo , precision y creatividad de tus covers !! .. increible !!
Jesus man.. that pre solo fill was very impressive. Taking Lars' signature choke to a whole new level. This is a great tribute to one the great pioneers of heavy music.
This guy came a long and blew everyone out of the water, and even the best drummers think he is nothing short of a drumming god. This guy really cannot get enough praise for his achievements so far. And he's still growing, he's only 26!
Well… the world stop at that 2:46 minute mark for the sickest fill! Excellent!
Brutal! De lo mejor técnicamente q te he visto…. Y veo mucho. Eres un makinón!
i saw many drummers who cover Metallica, but this is a really badass drummer, so precise movements and right to the point. Amazing!!!!
Not as good as Lars tho
Agree, love this dude. But have you seen Raùl Fernández’s Battery “Extreme Metal” version? Also check Josh Steffen, heaps of Metallica and Slayer 🤘
Eloy Casagrande too.
That was perfect. All the original with precise execution and adding all the stuff and more that Lars would have if he was at that level when he recorded it. I've listened to that song since it came out. I'm a drummer of 30 years now. Never heard a better rendition of it.
You really liked his version better? Obviously he did a fantastic job. But I’m just being honest. Lars’ fills are better. El almost sounded out of time at certain points. Now that being said. El is the most impressive drummer I can think of. He blows my mind with his speed and versatility. He is a machine.
@@danradcliffe6255 Your a wizard harry! lol... sorry... i had to say it, forgive me.... Daniel Radcliffe... I grew up on Lars. I learned how to play the drums with Lars when Kill 'Em All came out. Ride the lightening, And justice for all... they formed my drumming life. I still play them. My hat will always go to Lars. Lars is really the drums, the atmosphere, the whole deal.. El's technique is so intense, he scares even Slipknot, but Lars is the original classic with all his classic fills. Yeah... I concede... yes, Lars keeps his crown :)
Beautiful
2:45 whole new levels of ridiculously awesome.
That is INSANE speed, wow! Loved the song for years, never realised the drumming effort in it till now.
Youre playing is like a well oiled machine, so precise
😂😂
Dude you absolutely crush this song. I don't even think Lars plays it in time correctly and I mean this is absolutely amazing. Thank you doing this. I'm not even a drummer but I can appreciate this as a guitar player and a bass player and someone who's played in numerous bands covering this song. Well done
Amazing song and superb drumming. Simply class!
damn, the flavor added to the bridge (2:20 to 2:45) sounds so good
Damn right!
I've been listening to this title for 37 years and it's by far the cover that gave me goosebumps the most since the heyday of lars !!
Oldie fans get goosebumps at these oldie hits.
Lars who?????
I agree all the way, listening them since 13, im 38, and thousands of times listening this song, i got excited after all these years, like a new experience.
I just searched for "metallica with good drummer" on RUclips. This came up. I'm absolutely satisfied.
One of the best songs for drumming ever written. Sensational !!!! You are a Master.
Holy shit... I was waiting for the double bass monstrosity the whole song and was extremely pleased when it hit, the fill at 3:27, as well as the whole cover is truly a work of art. This was grande, Jorge!
His… his name is… Jorge?
I love how Lars's drums are right inside the songwriting. You are blasting that thing!
Es así. Suena muy mal en comparación a la versión original 😂😂😂😂
Increíble!! Me late un chingo está rola y aún así el cover que has hecho está de hue00s!! Eres un crack, que el rock siga!! 🤘

@@rschaepperagreed. There were actually a couple of spots that were sloppy….he is human after all 😅😅
Stop it
This drum take brings this song to a whole other level. So massive. Awesome job!
Perfect example why the "simple" drumming of Lars fits better!
@@justanotherbeautiful5736 perfect example of “What if Metallica had a great drummer all along?”
@@galenmarek8287 Lars was pretty damned good for the time. Was he "great?" In terms of writing, I would have to say yes and he usually did it live perfectly for a couple of decades. Ultimately though, Lars influenced generations of drummers including Estepario Siberiano (i.e. guy you're listening to right now.) So...maybe, just maybe, Lars was a bit more "great" than what you're giving him credit for. After all, he still plays in one of the most influential metal bands that ever walked the planet and during the 80's and early 90's, his drum writing was brilliant. He never did too much and he never did too little. He accented everything correctly and filled in the spaces needed for Kirk to showcase his abilities and for James to layer the type of vocals needed to carry the music. Is he as good as the metal and jazz drummers of today? No. But, he was pushing the envelope when there weren't many bands making this style of music. So...he gets my respect and credit, even though I am damn sure he's not looking for it.
@@MichaelGrubbEvolvedMinistry I agree mostly. He’s just gotten lazy in the past few decades it seems. Before Metallica blessed us with “Load” I thought Lars was one of the better thrash drummers, though I was only 15 at the time. He and Kirk both seemed to have gotten complacent in their older days. It’s just fun to rag on Lars for the meme value though.
Sounds much better with Estepario drumming 🤷🏻♀️
2:42 👈 This part is without doubt the best break of all the entire song ! Just wonderful 👏
Dude I've been watching you like a year now and you're flipping the sickest I've ever seen in my life without a doubt bro! Thanks for all the fantastic music and talent 🤘🏼
My ears are hallucinating. Unreal. So so good.
This guy sounds unreal!!!!!! His unbelievable performance and talent and the stamina is on another level.
In my opinion this guy is the greatest drummer that is walking on the surface of this planet, UN F**King believe.
Brilliant work sir. Love it.
I hope people don't use this to start hating on Lars. It's old. Lars gets my respect for the following reasons
1. A lot of his Puppets and Justice stuff is utterly brilliant.
2. Given how much live work they've done it's easy to throw together a cheap shot "isn't Lars rubbish" montage and leave out the hundreds of hours he got right. Context... I know I've fucked up enough to make a pretty good montage of my own.
3. He's written and performed on more records than any of us will ever manage in our lives. Respect.
Every drummer I went to high school with in the 90s had a double bass pedal because of Lars
Lars is great and Metallica has been a major inspiration to so many musicians. It's still funny to joke about it though. I like to think it's just joking like friends do with each other, even though some people are mean about it which isn't necessary. For example my friend is a great electrician but I still make fun of his work all the time just to bust his balls. I see it like that. And he makes fun of my renovation work
When James and Lars first jammed, I thought Lars was the worst drummer I had heard in my life. He couldn't keep a beat, and compared to Mulligan [drummer in Leather Charm, Hetfield's first band], he just couldn't play. So I told James, 'this guy sucks, dude'."
- Ron McGovney [original Metallica bassist] remembering Lars' audition in April 1981
I still love Lars. Saw them first in 93, Milton Keynes Bowl, first show they ever played with Megadeth on the same bill. Seem 'em nearly a dozen times since then.
3 nope. 1 yes. 2 lars has always had noticeable issues.
Bro. You have to be the best drummer I have ever seen. In that clip, the way your eyes open super wide when you have an important grab to make, or a cymbal to find in the middle of some bullshit fill, is really cool. I love watching you play. Please keep doing it.
Just awesome …. A revivre of an awesome old one that is so great….. just insane 😮
This one made me remember that concert where Dave Lombardo played Battery and freaking nailed it.
Almost nailed
Lombardo didn't nail Battery at all. Made several bad mistakes and couldn't keep up the double-bass at the end. This guy is FAR superior to Lombardo......
