@@SR-cz5yy What you're describing is a blunt cut (straight across with no layers) and it's a totally different and more difficult, time-consuming method. Still achievable on your own, though. There are some decent videos on YT that demonstrate how to do it.
I just watched some booshy snobby guy showing a similar method, but yours looks better and you are nice and you showed it in a quarter the time. Thank you!
i possibly saw the same one, left after he was rude about doing it yourself & being insanely excessively slow, and found this great supportive appropriately long vid! lol
Life saver! I just cut my hair without looking online for tips and tricks. And it was horrible.. I found your video and it fixed it!! It looks amazing now! Thank you for sharing! ❤
I've been cutting my hair at home for a couple years now and have been close to figuring it out. But the bottom was always blunt/uneven. I tried the one with 2 side low ponytails and cut blunt, then untie and stretch the ends to try to layer with scissors. What a disaster the ends turned out to be 😂 I tried this version and holy cow! Literally ONE cut with the scissors and it magically fixed my ENTIRE head when I let the ponytail out!! 🤣 All the ends perfectly fixed!! I can't stop looking at my hair lol .. This is the answer if you wanna cut your own layers! I got tired of hairstylists NEVER being able to figure out how to layer my super straight hair so after decades I gave up on them. I can now do a way better job than any of them, with literally one cut. Thank you!!! 🙏❤❤❤
But wait, how do you get layers from this when it's just one cut? Sorry, this is all very new to me, I want to cut my own hair but I've never done it before
@@fah6601 when you pull the hair to the top of your head, the front hair will be a shorter length to the end of the ponytail and the back pieces will be a longer length. So when you release it it will fall in layers, with the front being shorter in length. Hope that makes sense. If you start out cutting a longer ponytail you can always cut more later. So if you try it i recommend starting longer
Used to do this all the time and forgot about this technique. Just did it and saved myself from a salon visit. Been feeling really down about my hair and not it looks like amazing. 😊
OMG! This DID work great!! Love it!! I spend $200 at the salon. I have really long hair (down to waist) put the 2nd pony holder about 2 inches from ends, cut and did it again if I wanted it shorter. It kept my length in the back, but framed my face perfectly. Thank you so much!!
If I want even layers all around my head I put the ponytail on the very top of my head. You can add curtain bangs by doing a similar ponytail on your forehead but only including the hair from your ear forward. Cut it like she does in this video as a second step so all the layers blend in together (these ponytails keep your original length unless you cut so much off)
I did this and it worked great!!! Just make sure you don't cut too short or your "fringe" will be more a mowhawk. When I did mine I cut around 6 inches from head. Perfect!
I just did this with my hair exactly following her steps....and the results are amazing 🤩🤩🤩🤩 thank you I never opt for Parlours for haircut ! I always try new haircuts by following RUclips and this girl is my latest fev in haircut techniques 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 amazing results
That's what I want like a shag, what do you mean shorter layers warning? My hair is not as long as hers, probably 5 inches shorter, almost all one length. That must feel so great to be able to give yourself a nice haircut!
@@Leah_F.thank you for this tip for the next time because that totally happened to me 😢 I have thin hair from post partum and just gave myself pretty short layers which I normally don’t do because of my thin hair. This made my ends look even thinner now. Gosh I hope that once I style it I can see how badly I messed it up. Definitely not for every hair type. Looks nice if I had thicker fuller hair for sure. Also I did the texture at the end and my layers still look sort of blunt 😫😖
This worked great for me, I was worried a bit so I was careful but it worked out well! While your hair is like that, it’s easy to see if your layers have any split ends too so freshening them up is easy! No more annoying talks at the hairdresser for me! XD
i've been doing this since 2011, even though I have a bigger catalog now of home haircuts... I learned this haircut from a women that worked in the hair salon!
For anyone who wants even layers all over make sure to put the ponytail at the top of your head. When you pull it forward like she does in the video it puts more layers in the front and longer layers in the back. I like doing even layers due to braiding my hair so I usually do longer even layers so the hairs aren’t poking out of my braid so much.
OMG, I'm saving this video. Thankyou so much!!!!!! I'm getti'n out the scissors!!!!! Lol - (edit) So, I just did it! And it looks SO GOOD on my fine wavy hair. Thankyou so much @Meghasingh
This changed the whole hair game for me! I just did it not realizing that it would layer my hair so much and took off about 4 inches. But it came out looking reeeaaally nice. Just make sure to comb your hair all the way to the front, in one direction. It should look neat and tight when you tie it. You may also have to trim the very ends separately after, when your hair is down, depending on how much damage you have. Thanks so much for this! ❤
Ok so I have long hair, halfway down my back with a few layers, which I want to cut, so if do this trick, and pull all my hair forward, it will cut the length and the layers?
@@fah6601 yes it will , I would suggest just cutting off about 2 inches , take it out and decide if you want it shorter and if you do then put it back up an do it again .
This is how i would trim my hair when i trim it myself its easy and most of the time it turns out better than when i go to a salon and i save myself 30 to 40 bucks ... It's ridiculous what Hair salons charge just for a trim!
Just a tip from Brad Mond. Your unicorn ponytail is way too high up on your forehead. He says we all do it wrong, it should be placed between the eyebrows. But I love the way yours turned out, so now I'm wondering, if that may apply more to shorter hair. My hair is a bit longer than yours, so your method might work better for me hmmm.
Need to mention that it does not cut your hair even. It makes layers around the face. I love it, I use this method all the time, however most people dont understand that this is not a way to cut your hair evenly.
@Captinclam That's what I was wondering, so the back of the hair at the bottom is uneven? Because that's very important to me. Unless I get it cut at the salon first because she does a great job with that but not enough layers on the sides.
@@Saintm-lk5iutry doing it with three ponytails thats how i do it. The first one like this with all your hair forward the second just above your ears combing the hair in the back straight down and the rest in another forward ponytail and the third i make a triangle from the top front of my hair directly to each side of your eyes on each side make that a ponytail and that’s it.
@@faithgnes3105 thanks you for the tips. I haven't tried anything yet but the 3 ponytail one sounds way too complicated for me or I would have to see a video on it and I still probably couldn't do it right. Maybe one day I can do it just with the front one and just make sure I comb it straight like you said. For now I got a trim at the walk in salon where it's cheaper but I picked a lady who combs it out nice and even when it's wet and trims it nice. She does a tiny bit more n the sides. I have curly/wavy hair. This lady's is very straight and long. She's lucky.

@@meghasingh I have long, strait hair and only took off a couple inches. I feel like it didn’t turn out as layered as I hoped so may do it again. My steps: I brushed my hair from the nape of my neck over my face as you demonstrated and secured it with a hair band, pretty low on my forehead.
