This was my first time at this specific faire, as well! I've been to other Ren Faires before, but none this impressive! I was also here on Viking and Barbarian weekend and actually spotted my partner and I in the background of the video a few times!
In for a penny in for a pound! Hello from a Penny from Bristol Renaissance Festival!! Ginger Peach Penny here!` Are you going to be at the International gathering at ORen in Oct??? I'll be there with the Michigan and Bristol groups!
The best time to hit the Peacock Tea Room is first thing in the morning. We usually head straight there after rope drop and sit down to have a nice brunch and watch the first show at the King's Hall. Later in the day, you just can't get in.
It's good to see one of these Renaissance shows with trees, on the scale of ours in Arizona, held from mid-winter to early-spring, our grounds and shows and exhibits are as expansive as a Disney park, just short on shade though the trees they have are placed well. When our daughter was 'yiddle', about age eight, fifteen years ago, we went to our Renaissance Faire crossing 60 miles of suburbs from our side of Phoenix, at the White Tank Mountains to just south of the suburb of Apache Junction, near the Superstition Mountains. The place was a hit with us, an all day event, and we repeated the trip the next year. My daughter dressed up but my wife and I did not--we were the camera crew, lol, though our daughter did give us some free time to grab an ale. It was surreal and escapist and they still put on the show there, and it was not until I saw the arid area near Toledo Spain that I realized even in Arizona, the climate and landscape is as it was when the Renaissance reached Spain.
Connie and I have several friends who work the show as well at ARF. Great show there. Several of the acts always come to the Carolina Renaissance Festival, too. 🙂
I totally enjoyed this video. My home faire is S. Fla but my crew finally made it to Garf last year for a weekend, but it was so big I feel we missed a lot. Lucky to head back in 3 weeks for 2024 and your video gave me a great idea to check out things we missed. Thank you! Huzzah
We’ve been watching a number of videos on various renn faires across the country. I’ve gotta say you are by far the best Vlogger that has covered a faire. Thanks for doing such a great job
I was there that day... haven't been since around '92...I was impressed as well...was thinking of going back in October for Halloween..they call it The Village...have you heard anything about that? Thinking I noticed you..I noticed everyone wearing a kilt..😁🏴 Think I saw myself in the background at the beer stand..😁
@@toddventure That's my home state, unfortunately I haven't made it back to visit during the Ren fest in quite sometime. I haven't seen the viking encampment that they've added.
Thanks for showing us this faire! Last year I went to the New York Renn Festival in Tuxedo. Man… was it something, it officially hooked me into visiting more! Gonna hopefully go to my states Renn faire and I’m so excited! I hope to get a couple pieces for a pirate outfit/costume I wanna do, then price what I’d like to get for the next time. Being plus sized, I just hope that I can find the sizes accommodating or hope to talk to some of the merchants and they’ll help me out. 2nd Renn faire/festival whoo! (Aiming for May 20th) I’m glad I found your channel a little while ago, keep up the awesome content! 😊
If you carry a real weapon...ie. sword, Daggers, etc. The peace tie shows that it has been checked and tied with a ribbon. This also indicates that it must remain holstered in its sheath or scabbard and never removed while on property.
I really enjoyed your video! I’m going this weekend with my family and I haven’t been since 1996. It’s amazing how much it’s changed. Back then I think it circled more around the renaissance era with some 11th and 12th century Norman and Viking stuff, but most of the actors spoke in an old English accent. I’m sure that the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean movies have brought about a big influence. I think I noticed more of a fantasy hippie Woodstock feel there than I remember from my childhood but I’m really looking forward to a turkey leg and a ginger beer!🍺
there wasn't a line to get into the Peacock TeaRoom there was a line to get on the waiting list to get into the Peacock TeaRoom went there 1st day to celebrate my nephew's B-day waited 20 minutes to be told there was a 3-hour wait to be seated it is rather pricey, but well worth the cost and wait I recommend the House Tea (but ask for light ice) a perfect spot for lunch, especially since it is right next to the King's Hall Stage so you get great food and a show
Wow. The crowd level looks amazing. My family does Carolina a ton and my daughter works there but it looks like we will have to do a trip to Georgia this spring. What weekend did you go?
there are no lines. What time is this filmed? There are hardly any people. Am I dreaming? The TN ran fair was hopelessly crowded. Lines and traffic galore. On may 21 we couldn't even get in. This looks so much better.
The gates open at 10:30 am. I started filming at around 10am for the pre-show. It's really an organized mass of people rather than a line. From what I could tell, most everyone pre bought their tickets and just whipped out their phones to scan the barcode. Moved efficiently and quickly. There was barely a ticket line at the booth.
Very peculiar how similar this is to the Carolina one, even down to the layout of the entrance and the pre-show and building architecture. (also the performers having a balcony at the overlook entrance) The vendors, especially the food ones are eerily similar too, even down to how they're laid out and advertised throughout the fair grounds. I couldn't find any info online about whether they're ran by the same holding/parent company but I'm going to go on a limb here and say it's managed by the same conglomerate or something. Thanks for the interesting video. I enjoyed it!
Different company. I've been going to CRF for over 25 years now, and there are definitely major differences. To be honest, you really need to experience it yourself, and you will see the differences in person. I love CRF, but with 38 years of GARF, I'm sure they went through their growing pains as well. 1986, GARF is owned by Jack Sias 1994, CRF is owned by Jack Siegel, who also runs the Arizona Renaissance Festival through the Parent company Royal Faires. The entrance to most Renaissance Festival is very common. This is to help entertain and speak to the crowds as they wait to enter. 🙂 Make sure to check it out. You'll have a great time for sure. 🙂
@@toddventure thanks for the info todd venture, appreciate it. the info you're saying makes a lot of sense. i've never been to the Georgia one before so that is definitely going to be something i need to check out!
Glad I stumbled upon this channel. Very well done and subscribed as well. Looks like you have some interesting journeys I'll have to catch up on. Being honest and maybe I shouldn't be but your videos are in an area I'm interested in and you don't have the N.C. accent I have a tough time listening to. What part of the country are you originally from?
Originally from Florida....or better known as Southern New England. 😀 I have lived in North Carolina since 1975. Thank you for subscribing. Sometimes, I do catch myself talking too fast. I will definitely work on that. 💓
Ive been coming to this one since I was a little girl and i love it very much. The peacock tea room is my fav place to eat so take your wife there! The first time i came i was 9 and my mom dressed me up as a hobbit 😅
The Fair grew-up apparently cause it didn't look like back in the day. Mr. Sias has done a lot ...and awful lot and I gotta tell ya it's a LONG-TIME COMING from small guy to BIG-BOY in every since of the word. No pundit intended. It look's GOOD......REAL GOO!
We live the Pennsylvania ren faire. And it’s fun for a once through each year for us but they really should start calling these fantasy fairies instead. Not that I care that is has other things but would be more fitting
Commercially, it probably would not be feasible. Newer fairs, like the North Carolina’s 'Legends' and South Carolina’s ' Mid Summer Fairy Fest' are gaining speed. I'll try to make the Fairy Fest in Greer coming up in June. 🙂

I was able to get it around 1 pm, but that was on a Sunday.
I’ve really enjoyed this video. As a matter of fact I am starting it over to watch again. One of the best videos about ren faires I’ve seen yet.
Thank you. ❤️

Watching this makes me unbelievable excited. I'm surprising my mom by taking her tomorrow as a late mother's day gift, as this is right up her alley
You both will have a great time. Enjoy. ❤️
I like your outfit. It’s exactly the colors I would have chosen. I love black watch.
Oh that clothing display is gorgeous. So vibrant and colorful. It’s like a rainbow.
Thanks for the complete walk through great to see how it's changed over the years.
Beautiful display of the copper art. My purse would be so much lighter. Lol!
Update: Thank you all for watching our 2023 GARF video. I will be returning to GARF on Pirate Weekend 2024.❤

Hopefully, you can find them here.

Not yet. Yes, the same owners. Maybe one of these days. We hit Georgia and West Virginia. 🙂❤️

if you want realistic, go to SCA or something. Ren fair is fantasy land for sure.
Ahh yes, Ren Faires-- where theatre majors and suburban boomer hippies go to shine for a few weeks out of the year. The giant turkey legs are nice tho
