I felt like this story was so open that they could have done so much with it and just didn't. Personally, I liked Until Dawn's structure better. A secondary human villain who shows up first (which they did well with the pirates) and a supernatural antagonist next. Truthfully I thought with the Chinese lore that they were going to be using spirits and such. Especially when I saw the child at first. It would have made sense and would have made it creepier (Plus allowed a hell of a lot more gore.). Underwhelming... I know it's part of a planned 8 installments, but if the story and acting keep so superficial and dull, no amount of graphics and lighting can make up for it.
This game looks so fricking weak. The acting is also horrible, the guy lost his brother and he just screams like "no" 7 times and the same goes for Julia when she dies. The game has no real monster, it's all just imaginations. Until Dawn was a hundred times better. Made by the same devs, hoped that this game would be just as good as UD but from watching some videos I won't buy that.
If they have a next game. Yeah well they've got 7 games planned already. About 6 months until the next game releases and another 6 months until the next game releases and so on. That's also the reason why I don't mind this game of how it is because they've been working on the other games as well

Because the legend of the Ourang Medan was speculated to kill all the people on the ship with gas which could have caused their shocked expressions during death.
Apparently, these aren't "all" the kills, I have seen some other youtubers getting the characters to die in other ways, or maybe the game is rigged and random ways of handling the situation are different
That's exactly the point! It focuses and explores the power of the mind which is a large account for most "ghost" sightings in real life. You'd be surprised how easy your mind can form figures and shapes.
On my first try with my friend, I killed him with a wrench (I was brad he was fliss) and then conrad died because i didn't pulled the lever when he was fighting the hammer guy (but closing a gate on someone doesn't make any sense), but good ending for the 3 other survivors

Honestly one of my favorite horror game experiences I had, but probably helped but the fact I didn't play alone, so that made it more enjoyable, as well as the fact I felt clever for figuring out the plot point in 20 minutes.

I couldnt connect to the characters at all and paid no attention to deaths I wasnt like "this character needs to die" Or "this character i felt strongly emotional too" In until dawn our first act was bullying something emotional and strong that led to the rest of the story This story felt too rushed and not thought out properly like Until Dawn with all the characters and plot twists and decisions no one knew this game was coming out it definitely needed more work story wise Visually looks great voice acting decent enough but eeek im very disappointed in this game
Upulor that's twice now they've cut games for budget cuts. This and Agent Agenda. I'm wondering why though since after until dawn I figured they'd have a good sum of money.
Ye, I still thinking Until Dawn was their master piece, that plot twist with the wendigos... just perfect, and I think the motion cap and graphics were better xD even deaths xD
i wish there were more memorable scenes in this game. the only ones i remember is the confrontation with Junior, the scene with closing the gate and Fliss's hallucination. if you asked me to recite every scene in until dawn tho, i could probably give you a good chunk of the game just off of memory.
at everyone in the comments bitching that until dawn was better........ well I don't disagree. but this isn't even the full game yet. chill out lol. it's only the first 'episode'
man of medan is a solo game the next game won't be the sequel... it's part of an anthology not a sequel. it is as if each game the curator told a different story of his collection.
The biggest thing that I wonder about when it comes to this game is if it has 'canon' deaths just like Until Dawn. I don't know if it is just me imagining things, or if everyone has already noticed this and I am just stupid, but let me explain. There were certain moments in Until Dawn where one of the characters would go through a traumatic moment (for example: the decision to shoot Emily, or Chris running away from the wendigo with the shotgun), and after these specific moments, the characters would stop advancing the plot. They didn't really seem to speak up as much as they did before, and they would not weigh in as much as they did before. It felt like the last traumatic moment they went through was where they were meant to die. So I personally called those deaths 'canonical deaths'. I don't get that same feeling with this game. I wonder if the ending where everyone lives really is the true ending. I don't know if it is being called true or not, because I haven't looked into it yet, but these are just my thoughts. Sorry for the long post.
I'm guessing the soldier guy... Joe? From the intro was hallucinating bout his son. There was a hint he has a son when he took that fortune telling thing
Long after playing Until Dawn I was expecting a good experience too with Man of Medan... But that was far less interesting and inspired, in every ways possible.
All these people talking about the lack of gore as if the ghost was meant to spill guts and sever heads as if it was his life. Its a ghost, the best thing it could do is trick someone into shooting or stabbing someone, at least this ghost(s). A wendigo will have more gore simply cause its a monster that eats humans. Besides this is based off of a story where everyone died in place, frozen in fear. You want them to completely disregard the actual story and go for more action and gore as if this was a slasher film? I'm not against people liking one thing more than the other but they weren't going for gore, they were going for the "real thing" depending on if you believe in spirits.
uhm.. actually there's not even a ghost. There's nothing supernatural going on. Just a hallucinogenic gas. So they either die because of accidents or they kill each other, all caused by hallucinations. There isn't even a monster so you kinda have a point there. But still there's a whole lot of deaths that could have been more gory. I'm not saying they should have. Just pointing out the possibilities and - in my opinion - missed opportunities. I guess a lot of people are just disappointed cause in comparison to Until Dawn the deaths and the story seem kinda "boring" and since it's from the same developers & in the same style sure you compare those 2 games. In Until Dawn you are led to believe there's nothing supernatural but then it turns out that there IS something. Man of Medan does the same thing, only the other way around.. and I think this "heey it wasn't even anything spooky, just hallucinations lol!" kinda twist is comparable to a "it was all a dream"-revelation.. which is almost always underwhelming. A little more gore might have added at least a little bit of entertainment to the experience. I mean.. you don't play or watch horror games expecting to not be spooked or shocked..
@@BloodyShadowMusic I never seen the ending so I didn't know that, thanks for telling me. I'll keep that in mind. But rather its gas or not, there still isn't that many things to cause a gory scene. A gun, a knife, blunt objects or just simply falling down and bashing in your skull is pretty much as far as it would go realistically. The BEST thing I can think of is gutting someone, but why would they gut someone if they're scared out of their minds? If anything they would just repeatedly stab the person. Just my opinion.
compare keeping characters alive in this game to until dawn until dawn: dont move or a fucking wendigo gonna decapitate you/gouge your eyes out/rip off your jaw/throw you into a hook/slam your face in, etc

At the end or the recap of who died before the credits, Conrad wasn't included
I literally saw none of this. I played through, found out it was chemicals and everyone just got on the boat and left.....disappointed
me too i thought it was cut short
Hey, I was just happy to get everyone off alive.
5:57 Conrad over here breaking the fourth wall.
The blood pool at 5:44 just looks like some guy took the least convincing stock blood image and expanded it.
It should have been everyone dying not all deaths. You know what we would like to see when we look up 'all deaths'. It's a bad ending alright.
I'd like to know what happens when you attack the four arms monster with alex... do we see floss dying or can't we stab her...
Not that i hate her, i just like to know every inches of this game
Underwhelming... I know it's part of a planned 8 installments, but if the story and acting keep so superficial and dull, no amount of graphics and lighting can make up for it.
This game looks so fricking weak. The acting is also horrible, the guy lost his brother and he just screams like "no" 7 times and the same goes for Julia when she dies. The game has no real monster, it's all just imaginations. Until Dawn was a hundred times better. Made by the same devs, hoped that this game would be just as good as UD but from watching some videos I won't buy that.
Herr Dardon ok What the fuck
If they have a next game. Yeah well they've got 7 games planned already. About 6 months until the next game releases and another 6 months until the next game releases and so on. That's also the reason why I don't mind this game of how it is because they've been working on the other games as well
This game is lame compared to Until Dawn.Maybe the next chapter in this Anthology might give a "Little Hope"
Their First game "Until Dawn" was a masterpiece and always stay the best in line. "Man of Medan" does not make it that far,It can not be compared with "Until Dawn."Not sure how many chapters the "Anthology" counts."Little Hope" is the next game which will be released in 2020.Not looking forward to it after playing "Man of Medan"
Yeah dude, like wtf happened?, Until Dawn was an masterpiece of this genre, and yet they managed to make this game look absolutely cringy in almost everything, graphics are the only appealing thing here, the rest just looks awful.
15:37
Dude just watched his brother get a bullet to the dome and is making jokes less than 2 minutes later? Yeah I'ma pass on this one chief
I love how these developers make you think there's so many endings like until dawn but in reality it's just characters there or not there on the spots of the ending that's exactly the same as many others
There are 14 really differents endings
@@purplecotton6970 The lifeguard rescue, everyone dies, army good, army bad, getting the duke up and running, everyone stays on the ship as fliss and whoever goes out on water, Julia dies on the duke after getting it started up? That's 8, whats the other 6? Sorry for asking I havent watched that many videos on endings/secrets to this game
@@parkzy2920 ruclips.net/video/87JEZAF_Vpkn/видео.htmlon
until dawn always ends with the house exploding into flames and the rescue team arriving to whoever if anyone is alive and josh being dead or becoming a wendigo, so idk what you mean by so many endings
Um, getting cut in half doesn't kill you that quickly, especially that clean of one, there should have been a couple minutes of struggle before she croaked
PFI RedNinja she most likely passed out and then died from blood loss
@@koomsik2578 there still should have been more of a panic
Well, there is a possibility of dying from a "shock of pain", I guess. Her abdominal were squashed and spine shattered so...
Well, yeah. Maybe she was just paralyzed from pain then. Locked in syndrome, anyone?
@@shiiyamiroku67 maybe, it could have been more of a crushing cut, and Alex's death in that situation shows alot more blood leaving the mouth which would be a sign of him getting crushed Instead of cut, Julia's death just wasnt portrayed as well as alex's
Congrats to theradbrad, he's not let anyone died
17:46 - what's going on there...? that doesn't look like it's from any part of the game. Maybe a hint at another game?
Bauscheusse Yeah it’s a hint for the next game which is interesting. The game is called Little Hope and that’s also what the Premonition is called when you find the picture.
This game was too easy. The "twist" is easy to guess, and once you figure it out, the fear factor is gone. Until Dawn was much better.
2:43 - Charlie
3:39 - Joe
4:33 - General
4:38 - Radio Operator
5:30 - Fliss

10:05 - ???
14:26 - Brad
14:38 - Junior
17:47 - Taylor
22:22 - Julia
22:22 - Olson
25:00 - Alex
at 10:05 thats danny
Was really hoping to see the four armed thing at 4:18 again. Thought it was the monster/antagonist. Too bad they decided some gas would be better.
animation station in one playthrough you do see it as Alex-but it’s just an illusion, because if you did attack it you would’ve killed one of your friends-and at the end of this video as well.
Yearlonggiant oh okay
Because the legend of the Ourang Medan was speculated to kill all the people on the ship with gas which could have caused their shocked expressions during death.
So Brad outlived everyone and is left to starve or die from a heart attack due to the gas while everyone else died by each other basically.
Brad can get shot by Junior with the wrong dialogues.
"Until Dawn" is (much) better then "Man of Medan"
Robbie1504 of course, it had higher budget than this, what did u expect
Ur opinion is well respected, guy. See if anyone gives a fuck.
Sony funded it i guess so more budget and freedom foir until dawn i guess
Apparently, these aren't "all" the kills, I have seen some other youtubers getting the characters to die in other ways, or maybe the game is rigged and random ways of handling the situation are different
I mean u didnt show every death

how can you even die the game gives you so many chances
they should have delayed the game for like 2 years to make it better

he should not have dis-mist that.
The perfect ending everyone is dead
Ok Edgelord
@@magalimizuki3752 you dont get to see the terrible mouth movement lmao
So, like, no deaths due to supernatural causes and only, like, two death per person? It seems,,, dull.
That's because there are no supernatural causes. There's nothing supernatural in this game.
@@gaz0426 Yeah, I know.
Theres apparently 69 deaths (no joke ) but obviously u can only kill each of them 1 time per session.
I made perfect choices until I shanked the “monster” at the end
I do exactly the same :(
Floss was my favorite and I kill her :(
I saved everyone except Alex because I stabbed the rat in his stomach. Pretty pissed at myself for that stupid decision
Same hahaha I shoulda kept in mind that all were hallucinations, but the fear of dying made me do it xD
Tbh, If anyone gets Alex killed cause of stabbing himself in the stomach Cause of the rat...You kinda are dumb..cause stabbing himself would’ve been so dumb...like he isn’t gonna survive Getting stabbed in the stomach...I would Understand if you tried to kill the monster..
Courtney Smith the rat in his stomach was gonna kill him so how does putting a knife increase hos chances of survival?
WHY DOES THE GUY IN THE SAILOR UNIFORM LOOK LIKE JAY FROM THE KUBZ SCOUTS
Honestly one of my favorite horror game experiences I had, but probably helped but the fact I didn't play alone, so that made it more enjoyable, as well as the fact I felt clever for figuring out the plot point in 20 minutes.
10:30 I wonder why Olsen didn't stab Danny in this one? And how come Alex is here instead of Julia?
It is crazy how different the events can play out here
i dont need this i watch call me kevin!
I managed to keep everyone alive but it seemed boring and short thought there would be twists like until dawn
Agreed they went a little lazy on this story
I mean the twist was that there were no ghost.
@@24_Hour_Majima It's only a twist if you're not really paying attention. If the yellow gas all around the ship in the beginning, tips from the Curator, or people saying they saw something while others saying they didn't doesn't tip you off then I don't know what does.
@@ArtisticallySpoken I knew what it was early on.
Conrad: *INTENSE BREATHING*
RabidRetrospectGames i personally thought it was extremely boring. I couldnt connect to the characters at all and paid no attention to deaths
I wasnt like "this character needs to die"
Or "this character i felt strongly emotional too"
In until dawn our first act was bullying something emotional and strong that led to the rest of the story
This story felt too rushed and not thought out properly like Until Dawn with all the characters and plot twists and decisions no one knew this game was coming out it definitely needed more work story wise
Visually looks great voice acting decent enough but eeek im very disappointed in this game
Luyukia I believe they had less of a budget to work on it. But ya I agree Until Dawn is fantastic.
I totally agree! It was just a ‘meh’ game for me.
@@upulor744 i figured since theres no true "famous faces" like last time those were BIG actors and now i didnt even know who these people were
These arent all the deaths tho. Like conrad getting shot by olson or conrad being killed by olson by sledgehammer 😭😭

Alex: brad is better off down there then with these psychos
Pyschos: literally 2 feet away
Whoever creating Man of Medan is so complex.
Thompson with a banana clip. Truly terrifying.
Not every possible death was shown here
This game is less actual jumpy scary but I love the psychological horror created by the group being pitted against each other
i wish there were more memorable scenes in this game. the only ones i remember is the confrontation with Junior, the scene with closing the gate and Fliss's hallucination. if you asked me to recite every scene in until dawn tho, i could probably give you a good chunk of the game just off of memory.
In all honesty, if they worked on this game a little bit more, it’d be 10 times better
at everyone in the comments bitching that until dawn was better........
well I don't disagree. but this isn't even the full game yet. chill out lol. it's only the first 'episode'
Wait what
This is episodic? I never heard anyone mention this
@@私の名前を翻訳しないでください Little Hope is the next part. The curator mentions it as well. He says that's when he'll next see you.
man of medan is a solo game the next game won't be the sequel... it's part of an anthology not a sequel. it is as if each game the curator told a different story of his collection.
It is the full game lol the next one won't have anything to do with this story.
For everyone complaining it's too easy, remember this is only the first entry in the series. Until Dawn had an easy start too.
Jeez you didn't take long.

if you pause at 4:57 you can see a man in a suit.
Sptw oh damn you’re right
@Angel Valdez Idk, Maybe theirs gonna be a 2 or a dlc of some sort.
the man in the suit is the curator btw
it is to give the essence he is watching over your story
@@brentmatley true thought it was a hint to dlc but it's just that guy
Man, this isn't even close to every death. It's only one each for only six of the characters, plus some cutscene deaths in the beginning
7:04 Me in a monster chase. I would not survive...
1:51 Who designed that Tommygun?
Why do I feel like when Joe shoots the kid he's actually shooting Charlie and the dead Charlie he saw was an hallucination
Nice Video, but I think one is missing, conrad got shot while he is leaving the milan by the speed boat
In this video *Alex survive*
Pewdiepie’s episode *Alex died*
I'm guessing the soldier guy... Joe? From the intro was hallucinating bout his son. There was a hint he has a son when he took that fortune telling thing
Yes and the son was actually Charlie. Remember Charlie had a knife.

brad was definitely my favorite out of the 5, and when i killed him with the door while trying to get the distributor cap from olson, im ngl. i cried.
Welp, the black guy survived in the end at least.
compare keeping characters alive in this game to until dawn
until dawn: dont move or a fucking wendigo gonna decapitate you/gouge your eyes out/rip off your jaw/throw you into a hook/slam your face in, etc
You forgot the one were conrad gets shot trying to escape from the boat
