      I agree, take East Germantown off your list as a place to live. West Germantown is better but still not Mount Airy. Perhaps the area in West Germantown between Germantown ave and Wissahickon avenue. There are some really big houses over there with huge yards. But that's a maybe. Why even move there when Mt. Airy is right up the street?

      Thanks for commenting! That is a great point, all three of those areas are beautiful and unique. More videos to come on the areas we weren't able to get in. Donnell, which would you prefer to live in? Hip & trendy Roxborough or affluent & prosperous Chestnut Hill?

      @@LivinginPhiladelphia Its so difficult because I went to Roxborough High School and the neighborhood is amazing and extremely well keep up. I work in Chestnut Hill and those homes are beautiful. I would have to say Chestnut Hill because not only is the neighborhood safe but if I ever decided to sell my home, the property value would always increase. Chestnut Hill is up their with Greenwich Connecticut as far a being an affluent neighborhood.

    • @LivinginPhiladelphia
      @LivinginPhiladelphia  4 года назад +1

      Yet another great point! Chestnut Hill is safer than 81% of the cities in the Pennsylvania and property is one of the best ways to grow wealth here in the US. I would tend to agree with your statement. Plus, you can always take a trip to Manayunk/Roxborough area for fun. Such a great, unique area. Do you have any special areas you would like to highlight to others that visit the area?

      @@LivinginPhiladelphia The Northern section of Chestnut Hill near the hospital. I walk past some of the most beautiful homes that I have ever seen. The 9000 block of Germantown Avenue is among the most affluent and I'm talking million dollar homes. I see my dream home each everyday in the 8700 block of Germantown Avenue . it was just completed and. I can't help but to stare at it daily. This place is amazing and the location is fantastic, if you have to get to the city for either business or for a fun night on the town with your significant other. The suburban train station is within walking distance of all the residential area's. The train puts you right you right off at suburban station without the hassles of driving into the city and spending a fortune for parking.

    South Philly? Maybe ... parking is too tight for my liking. Old City ... yes but seems pricy but lots to do and see and very good location near places. Bridesburg ... I have to say no replace that with Fox Chase. Germantown another no. Mount Airy? Yes, especially West Mt. Airy. Manyunk? Very yes, reminds me of small town PA or somewhere. For the young and hip moving to Philly, I would add Fishtown. For older folks looking for a quiet area, Chestnut Hill no doubt.

    • @LivinginPhiladelphia
      @LivinginPhiladelphia  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts Mike. Both cities are wildly diverse and there is so much to see. We get a lot of young professionals and couples moving into Philly from NYC because of the cost of living is much lower in Philadelphia. If you were considering outside the city your options expand many times more. The Greater Philadelphia area is HUGE and equally beautiful. But of course it can't match the hustle and bustle of the city if that's what you are looking for :)

      I live in Atlanta and being a southerner I'm very intrigued by the urban city life of northeastern cities like Philadelphia and New York. I'm very intrigued by that whole way of life and would like the experience of living in a downtown apartment in an area like Washington Square and Rittenhouse and using the train system, going for the occassions cheesesteak at Gino's or Pat's, enjoying a sports game, etc. I'm most interested in the culture and overall environment of a place to call home.

      I have been to ATL and everytime I go it seems to be more of a big city place and reminds me of being up north here. ATL has tons of people who moved down from the north. Seemed to be heavy amounts from the midwest cities like Detroit and Chicago. I guess that's what growth is. ATL is much more car oriented than NYC. Philly is probably in the middle. It's car oriented but has enough public transport to get around especially if you add in Uber. Philly is much more walkable than ATL. I read somewhere that NYC is the most walkable city with the avg New Yorker walking 2 miles per day.

      Safety is a top concern for many people looking at purchasing. This area gets above average marks on crime and safety. The area is mostly middle class housing with about 60% of the occupants owning their home, which is great. The more owners, the more people actually care about their property and the neighborhood. The median house value is about 350k so this is also above average (Save up!). Over all this is a wonderful place to live, especially if you plan on going to the stadiums a lot lol. There isnt a chance some of these neighborhoods is crime ritten besides south philly i mean some crimes from local neighborhoods leads to other local neighborhoods so the crime maybe counted in that neighborhood - or county in your case i guess township idk i dont stay in philly wouldnt want to move to crime neighborhood

    • @LivinginPhiladelphia

      Thanks for checking out our channel and commenting! Crime was one of the key factors in the data we looked at. As you know it is impossible to escape crime in a city. There is a fair amount of data by neighborhood, which is how we presented this. But to answer your question, is there a chance that there is crime that runs off from one neighborhood to another, most likely, yes. There is a chance that some crime is from one neighborhood and not another in our data. Philadelphia is know as the city of neighborhoods. There are many tight knit areas and it's always possible some numbers may be off just a hair. But not too much.

      @@LivinginPhiladelphia yeah im aware of the google translated system because google says the westbank and just say westbank is a suburb is a untrue statement because the westbank is made of atleaste 5 city included orleans parish and it says suburb even for marrero and harvey which both arent suburb gretna could kinda get away with it because there is a police station and like 2 neighborhoods that bad main on terrytown stumpf blvd and mac donaldvill evergreen side which both are outside of the neighborhood the rest is running into manhanntan and timberlane which is okay and i see you know the history of philly which would surprise you'd but south philly on here is safe thats kinda like sayin the whole west bank like i said which would be added the whole west side of new orleans main , and you said some other areas lead to crime if its is worst than south philly than its a bad list blame google unless your working with that illuminati stuff

      I think I understand, and sure there are some rough neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. I would point out areas in Kensington can be considered much worse than any in South Philly that I can think of. But Generalizing South Philadelphia is a stretch. That area is just under 10 square miles! This includes the neighborhoods of Bella Vista, Devils Pocket, Point Breeze, Packer Park and the list goes on with amazing neighborhoods. And New Orleans is a beautiful city with Great people also with, I'm sure, some rough areas. Don't you agree?

      Thanks for checking out our channel and sharing your thoughts. Is Philadelphia perfect? No, there are areas that we all hope to improve as there is with many other places in our great area. Is there crime in the city? Yes there is crime in and around every city. One of the great things about our area is there are places for everyone. If you are concerned with crime, the suburbs has less crime, is quieter but is also more expensive. Property taxes are more than double and triple than the city. Some people want to be in the busy areas and work in the city and do not want to commute. These people love the city.
