This sounds like Priit Mihkelson with his defensive positions: panda, running man, Hawking, turtle. Strong offensive starting position, interesting!

what stops the opponent from getting a scorpion sweep or lockdown by putting the outside leg to the inside from that position? I usually tuck my captured leg tightly under my butt to prevent that but that is not the same position.
    Thanks in advance :)

How do you deal with when they cross their legs over your one which is trapped between their legs and bend it in ankle lock style fashion?

If I am on top, should I go for the underhook on the far arm of my opponent? Go for the cross face with one arm, and win the battle of the underhook with the other arm??? I was surprise Danaher did notvtry to get the underhook on the far side. I always do.

You don’t always have too. Sometimes it even helps you to not have a underhook, because your able to use that free hand to push your opponents leg, getting into 3/4 mount.

Just lift your (trapped) knee up off the ground. Preferably before they get the connection (but works after also)

My friends. The default starting position is on your feet. Learn take downs and self defense. Nobody gives a shit about your inverted spinning guard when your skull is getting crushed with a 2x4.
