Really learned a lot from this series... Thanks so much..
great video very informative once again showing that most people could tackle these jobs with tools they have. love that so thank you,
Having lived in France ( in two different periods) for about 15 years in total, I can empathize with the language problems! I sometimes struggle to find odd English words now.
In some conversations I can alternate from Portuguese (native) to English easier than I do when speaking Spanish. In my case it is more due the similarities of Sp and Pt.
46mm spanner size if anyone wanted to use a spanner
Hi Oliver
Found you channel and great video and such a handsome man.
Warm regards
Richard
Great video again Oliver as just replacing all tie rod ends and knife edges on my AK400 and this video has been an in-depth step by step how to guide that explains everything needed and why .. thanks again Sir
Happy to help 👍🏼
Hi Oliver. Thanks, great video. I am going to lubricate the suspension pots with Ricipo. Can this be done with the car sat on the tyres or does it need to be elevated? Thanks again, keep them coming.
The spring cans can be done with the car on the ground
Remettre en état Citroën dyane
Bonjour Oliver. I have been enjoying your episodes on the dyane, having recently bought one.
As you have been scrabling around underneath you may be able to give me some advise.
I have to apply for the special certificate of registration for voiture de collection. she is already under that catergory, but the old carte grise is 20 years old.
I have to find the 3 numbers on the car, engine number FOUND, plate in the engine bay FOUND. But i cannot find the chassis number (frappe a froid) anywhere,
the book with the car says its inside right front footwell, but its not.I was wondering if you have found the number on your dads.
I would be very grateful for any thoughts you may have. I look foreward to your next episode
I just cannot understand the 'knife edge'. what's wrong with a circular plain bearing with a grease nipple?
It's just not the way they did it but it works extremely well
@@OliverPickard OK, Gallic ingenuity...
Because it's not a rotating element, if you fitted a round element there would be a degree of rubbing , friction and therefore wear. The principle of a knife edge is the edge rocks, there is no sliding. The most common use of a knife edge bearing is in a set of balance scales where friction in the moving parts would interfere with the accuracy.
Yeah I alway's found concerning underseal, when you want it to stay on it come's off, when you want it to come off it don't want to.
If you're short of big spanners try searching for DIN894 in the size required. They are surprisingly inexpensive, and fine for occasional use. The adjustable pipe wrench is the amateur route.
were you from in the uk
So, where did you get the info about these sintered knife edges?
Cipere who make them apparently they last much longer than most
Great video as always!
Vivre en France et faire l'effort de parler le francais, c'est deja synonyme d'integration. Alors, bon courage Oliver !
Random thoughts: At various points but mainly at the end I was looking at the rather irregular gap between the underside and the chassis. Now nicely painted. But as I looked there seemed to be a few areas that looked as if you could see light through them, into the car. Although it might seal water in in some areas is there a temptation to fill that gap with seam sealer? What about the gaps where I can see, or think I can see, light? 37:00 for example. There may still be seams inside that need a tap down plus some extra sealer. You might reply and say, yes there is still further work to be done on the floor so that will be addressed in a future video. Nice neat work on the cans Oliver. Caster oil is good for keeping things on the move so a taste of it isn't a problem. 😎
I noticed the gap also there's a foam strip that sits between the chassis and body that if you were doing it today would be a butyl rubber strip but its missing a little bit at the rear and There are a few chassis bolts missing which is rather scary but not big deal to sort out haha so I'll do it off camera 👍🏼
@@OliverPickard Go mad, lift the body off the chassis. Yes, more work now but maybe less work later if she is going to stay a family heirloom.
Yes, I also noticed the gaps bettween floor and chassis.
Did you measure the spring rates on either side when off the vehicle?
