great review and love the proper strip down details, with real world, hands on experience info! ... this boiler came with our house so been keeping it serviced/working! its had 2 heat exchange plates, 1 diverter valve and then that diverter valve stripped and cleaned once a year it seems as get stuck ... think its now started over heating :( (as will fill a bath but after filling will keep fan on and no hot water entill a reset ) so was good to get details of the burner side of it all, and thermo cur out details too... need to try get burner seal kit ! Cheers again ..
Great video. If you had been able to get the clip out from the front, I think you would have found that the clearance behind the valve motor is about 3mm too small to get it out without demounting the hydro-block, making the job far more complicated. Especially if it is "game over" if it won't come out.
Fantastic review! I had a fault similar to this one at my home. There was water dripping under the boiler and so we had to keep a bucket there until the engineer arrived. The engineer advised the diverter valve was sticking in the heating position, and so there was no heating, only hot water. When the engineer opened the boiler casing, the condition looked just like this one. Signs of leakage. Great video Derek and well explained. Easy for us beginners to follow 👍🏻 Asian Jon. Training.
Brilliant video. All I needed was an idea of components and how easy/difficult they are to change. This enables me to make a easy decision on when it is time to buy a new boiler. Many thanks or this video. :)
Great tutorial derek my glow worm 30cxi has blown a fuse in the circuit board I have replaced it however there is no display now and nothing is working any ideas what’s happened please
With the condensation trap, the black pipes have a red reducer seal. I need a new ones of those as it still leaks after I changed it. What is the name of those so I can find and buy please?
Ive seen cars on bricks but not flues mate Can you still use a little wd40 on the bottom of the boilers chassis to stop it rusting Or has it been stopped due to back of the heat x splitting and creating spillage To make water rust identifiable But I would imagine using fga would pick up the poc
To add to the previous comment surely there is a device or something can be made with a elbow to screw onto the thread of the analyser point for testing in case the probe doesn't fit
Hi. Interesting video. Could you possibly please do a short video on how to replace the valve and blue tap on the filling loop, as mine seems completely stuck so I cannot top up the water pressure. I believe this is a common problem. Many thanks.
Hi great video 👍🏼 I came across the same issue today when trying to remove the motorised head and the clip was facing the plate, now I mainly do installs and never worked on this boiler before, ended up taking plate out, just wondering if the diverter cartridge being built wrong would effect normal operation? Or does it just make it a pain to remove the cartridge if needed.
See a few badly put back together and noticed the heat going down the flow when the hot water running. Most of the time though putting the clip the wrong way just makes it a pain removing
@@tomkatgastraining yeah I tried greasing then up to stop leak today was losing like 2ltr a mins was hoping was just loose connection but even after taking apart cleaning and greasing still leaking not as bad but not good either way lol
Hi any tips how to clean or take out condensate trap only? Got F4/F1 fault back to tomorrow but unsure best way. Any help welcome. As always thanks for videos
@Tomkat Gas Training I was just looking at a way to do it without touching anything else. Was thinking of a flexible socket but I'll see tomorrow. Just wanted to ask if you had any tips. Thanks ☺️
@@craigmcgregor5463 I have worked on loads of these boilers and found most of the time removing the heat engine save so much time. Good luck tomorrow and let me know how you get on 👍🏻
You said you prefer the analyser test point to be on the top of the boiler, ,(like Volkera) disadvantages of that is visual ie. If the bung is left out accidentally and the engineer forgets to replace it who's going to know without a set of steps?
Tomkat Gas Training thank you for letting me know. I'm going to keep hold of this boiler then. The new Worcester boilers have aluminium heat exchanger. I was offered one under the eco scheme but why fix what's not broken.
its a rented house and when i complained to council they sent envirmental healt officer he came i my living room and said its noise nuicence so landlord a minge bag he came out and dont no wot he done but it went quite 2nd time he came out i think landlord just alterd something on it till officer went wk later it back again its like a buzzing noise and it gets on your nervs as their kitchen is on my living room wall so their boiler is 8 inches away from my party wall so called envirmental officer again he guna come out could the boiler be worn as its about 10 years old
ace crusader it will need a gas engineer to have a look at it but most boilers only last between 10 and 15 years if they are well looked after a lot less if they are never serviced
Many thanks for this Video pal, on my way to replace the flow sensor and you have just made my job so easier 👍🏽 happy Friday

Great review. Showed everything you need to do the job and how easy ( or hard ) the job was going to be. I wish everyone did reviews like this.
Thanks Tom.
Was really a great video.
Great tutorial cheers Derek....had one of these in a house I bought cost me a mint in repairs.

Very interesting and detailed video, great work TC👍🏻
Very informative Thanks,,,D
Great Video 👍 Can I remove the fan without removing the burner?

How to turn the gas off to the Glow Worm 18 HXI boiler? I just want to replace the burner seal. Thank you for the video as well Cheers
Very informative and many thanks for uploading it, my only problem is the fact that the music overplayed the microphone you use
To add to the previous comment surely there is a device or something can be made with a elbow to screw onto the thread of the analyser point for testing in case the probe doesn't fit
Very interesting thank you
How do you change the pump. Isolate below first
Great video thanks
Quality video 😊👍👍

he already shows this in the video, its part of the flow senser, the thing he blows through...
Hi Derek
Excellent video as usual
Just the music a little bit too high sometimes
Abusara Bmg thanks for your comment I am on it now so hopefully future videos will be better cheers
So is this a 24v boiler sl return

Changing the flow turbine and filter tomorrow as was pissing out? 1st time bit seems fairly simple anything to look out for? Cheers
The filter can be a pain to get out and grease the o rings up with silicone before putting back 👍🏻

my boiler keep off, how do I fix this? the engineer had change the valve, is it right?
When you go through the pipes on the jig at the end, the first one you say is "flow"? Flow of what? (assume hot water?) From where to where?
Heating flow to the radiators
@@tomkatgastraining Thanks!
Hi derek can you add a video how combustion work please
Hi any tips how to clean or take out condensate trap only?

If you take the heat engine out it’s really easy but you will need a burner gasket
@Tomkat Gas Training I was just looking at a way to do it without touching anything else.

@Tomkat Gas Training Ordered some parts. Thinking of just taking inner out if still an issue to confirm if traps blocked. The joys of repairs haha.
Thanks very informative video
What's with the music, too loud can't hear what you saying, would have been better without the Music.
Excelente 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼

arry rooker that’s why we do a sweep test at the end so if we do forget we will notice it . Thanks for your comment and watching cheers 👍🏻
Hi. Would you know what material the heat exchanger is made from for the ultracom 2 30cxi?
Ayman Khan it’s a stainless steel heat exchanger in the ultracom 2?

Another excellent video very enjoyable to watch just the music is annoying!
When are you going to do a Viessmann boiler stripped down?
Salim Khan not got a Viessmann boiler in the centre next one is the ideal logic and I promise the music isn’t load 😜
Tomkat Gas Training cheers! Wasn’t complaining just saying, excellent videos keep them coming
can you fix my boiler? same.made
Very good video, but that music in the background is very annoying
i live nx to a neighbor and their boiler when its on sends vibrations and noise through the party wall is this normal
ace crusader definitely not normal think they need a gas engineer ASAP

@@tomkatgastraining wot makes a boiler noisy ie pump fann etc
ace crusader depends on which boiler it is but yes the moving parts can be nosey but the burner can also cause nose problems
Great vid just cut the music while u speaking
Remove the music it's really annoying, but great videos
Chris taylor
Good well presented demo music annoying left half way through!
Hi - can you turn the music off - hard to hear what you are saying
I wish I could
excellent tutorials but what's with that irritating background twanging? mate, get rid of the music.
J Webber not using music now but thanks for your comment and watching cheers
great video just get rid of music,
Loose the music and would be a very helpful video.
Ruined by the music
