    Sadly to many people hating on DS brand out there for no obvious reasons. Its miles apart from anything VAG can produce.
    They are used to a feel of a coffin on wheels so much that they disregard basic difference of luxury vs sport setup.
    After owning my DS7 now for almost a year , I can tell You this, more people got amazed by the car, and its features feel and ride, than anything else i have ever had in my life. Sure couple of people were amazed by some really expensive stuff, BUT thats it they were just expensive nothing more than that.
    You do get a lot more "bang for Your buck" with DS and huge amount of stuff that is way more expensive on any other German cars.
    And compliments don't stop there, although i never bought it b/c of what will other say, but pretty much if You haven't spent 6 figures on a normal car, no body will even notice You.
    It does it job in a different way, relaxed and separated way. If DS took same path of sporty carbon copies of German brands, no body would buy them, my self included.
    I say dare to pick your own poison.

    Viewers have made many valid points about French cars. They are no less reliable than German makes and in many cases more reliable and comfortable. They are certainly a lot more interesting than German cars. However long term if I was spending north of £40k (of my own hard earned cash) , I would buy a Lexus ES due to top notch reliability, refinement, amazing fit and finish and good customer service.

    I asked a girl what car her dad drove. not a clue. I drew a BMW badge and instant recognition. the UK are wannabe snobs and will not be convinced of anything sub German premium. absolute crying shame, cos what a lovely cruiser this is

      Uh , I cant say much about that , DS holds value pretty good compared to Germans, much better than than others definitely. Especially in this economy seen to many cars with 1+ year of ownership going for same price as new.

    I think it will make a great second hand buy in a year or two's time. The interior alone is fabulous. It's a very elegant car. Much prefer it to an arse port, anyhoo.

    It's just a shame that most buyers of this class of car are so desperately dull, they want a BMW or Audi, just like their colleagues in other management-ish grades... Dare to be different in management and the MD will start wondering if you're 'the right type' for the job...

    It seems like a posher 508 with a longer wheelbase and its own set of idiosyncrasies.
    As to the glove box and touch screen, it seems the new 308 has those sorted, so perhaps this will filter down through to the DS 9 in its midlife facelift...

    BMW, Mercedes, VW and all can shove to Brits cars with faulty electrics, bad emissions,etc but they will shit on French cars for the same issues when they do have them. A lot of people not aware of the fact that the BMW Prince engine is a PSA derived engine, or that Mercedes until recently was using Renault engines in many models. It's all because they are French, nothing else. Had a VW Passat and a Polo a few years ago that at some point could not be driven under the rain because the electrics would get wet and the windows would come down. Haven't had a French car do that yet, nor cost half the money to repair.

    • @bondjamesbond9041
      @bondjamesbond9041 2 года назад +1

      Agree Mercedes, BMW, Audi are over rated pieces of junk. All you are paying for is a so called prestigious badge. The aforementioned are no longer "luxury" brands.

    • @Mutely312
      @Mutely312 2 года назад +1

      Yep the prince engine. Had one in my old 308, bottom end is the old Peugeot TU engine, while the top end is the vari valve, vari valve lift from BMW. This is the bit that gave you the problem. These engines drank oil , carbon deposited inside the cam case leading to wearing of the valve stem seals . I sat in M5 traffic blowing blue clouds out on pull off most embarrassing.
      Yes the torque and economy was good but that top end and timing chain issues were it’s downfall (see mini engine problems, same unit).
      Moral; German is not necessary the best .

      @@Mutely312 Yes , its funny how Germans , F up their part of the engine, French one was OK, it took Years for French to fix the issue and undo a bad image.

      @@saintetienne755 For How long ? 20 Years ?
      I don't plan to keep this car for more than 5 years. All i ever heard from paid journalist is reliability is questionable down the line of anything else, than the Germans cars.
      And for past 20 Years only problem i had is with the German cars, or any car that German had their fingers inside. They speak of reliability , and don't keep cars up to 10 years old. So by my opinion they know nothing of it. Most reliable cars were not Germans for me, in fact quite the opposite, shining example is Fiat 500 with Twin Air , regular service and thats pretty much it. Sure it needed a few door knobs but thats it. Audi sucked ass. BMW expensive headache , Opel was in the middle. One was ok , one great , one horrible.

    DS 9 tries to be different, but apart from some shiny bits and pieces the design is far away from avantgarde, especially the exterior design looks very audi-esque. spending the same amount of money for a car that isn't as good as the "usual stuff" doesn't make you avantgarde, you're just a fool......maybe a likeable one, but nevertheless a fool

    • @idimidodjimi6760
      @idimidodjimi6760 2 года назад +6

      Ill be a fool every time than.
      Ive decided to ditch all shitty unreliable German coffin on wheels with a milk kart as a seat option for pleasurable ride and silence with massaging and cooled seats, laminated windows, A/C that always works excellent fuel economy that holds value better than comparable Audi with miserable ride , peaces falling apart and wearing out just by looking at them and PREMIUM repair costs for something that should be fixed under warranty due to bad design and someone sacked over.
      Its not the same amount of money , that is a hard fact, that no one puts in the same spot.
      You need to compare equally equipped car to get a real picture ( although to much of stuff is unavailable on AUDI)
      If You take 40k DS with same equipment You need pretty much 55k+ for an Audi , 50k DS You are looking at 85k+ Audi.
      That isn't the same. Bone stock Audi , or BMW, maybe has bigger engine, but really doesn't have much going for it else, except that they look much worse than DS.
