Drone lesson 1, if there is too much wind you dont fly ! however nice shoot, from 13:20 the nice part starts.

It is fun to push the drones limits...this should have been pretty darn safe flight it was over corn fields. That darn geo thing is not the norm and not sure why that came up. Again I flew there the next day and none of that happened so who knows. Normally if too windy and was in same position I would just land it wherever I could looking back.

Good to know dude ... thanks for sharing. One thing i noticed on your screen is that, all these while, you haven't changed your map view mode - bottom left corner, you could have changed your map view mode to see the trajectory path of your drone as and when it was moving back and forth, and from there, you could pinpoint the area your drone was and then the conditions around there.

Thanks for sharing this! Invaluable to see practical examples of why some best practices that seem like overkill on a good day, can be significant when conditions change!

I think it has something to do with the Geo Zone, I live near an airport, if you pass or are near to the Geo Zone my drone acts funny like controls are not responding, when I first got my drone it scared the heck out of me, so now I stay far away

I appreciate the transparency and putting yourself out there on the internet for others to learn. But so many red flags were ignored and Part 107 rules and regulations broken. As soon as you said to yourself that it was a windy day, the drone should have never even came out of the car.

It's not illegal to fly in high winds. Sometimes as I mentioned it's good to see the limits of your hardware when nobody is around especially to worry about. I knew it was only open empty fields and me....I still don't know if it was winds or that geo truly affecting the drone coming back. This is close to my home I know this zone and never had that happen where a geo zone prevented me from moving had to have flown that exact area 20 times prior zero incident.

@@AtortAerials no it’s definitely not illegal to fly in high winds, and I’d generally agree with you on testing your equipment. But flying BVLOS and flying from a vehicle is (for the most part). I’m by no means trying to rag on you, that’s why I said I appreciate you putting this out there

@@Vex_Offroad I did have VLOS on it and was flying outside my car by the trunk but I hear you....sometimes best to err on the side of caution.

Are you sure it’s not illegal to exceed the manufacturer’s wind limits? It certainly is in other countries. It’s part of my preflight checks!

First let me say GREAT job 🎉. I think you overthought this and it almost cost you! You were in the safe zone and didn't listen to your intuition! In the video and you even said. You were thinking about just landing. And for whatever reason you went and did some other mess lol. It's funny now but I've had this happen. My first flyaway but found it! Rookie pilot at the time! Didn't know the tricks to bring her back or what to do if I couldn't bring her back. Now I would have to be drunk for that to happen again or just has to be my day that everything goes wrong. I'm on florida and it's almost summer time. Which means random cold fronts and strong winds and rain for 5mins then boom. Sunny again like nothing happen. 😂. That's how this situation happened to me! Summer cold front rain storm. Cold front came fast I thought I had time. NOPE 🙅‍♂️. I saw the clouds off in the distance! Everyone still swiming at the beqch and im thinking 45 more mins then oll pack it up bwfore the storm. This is usually how it goes. Not on this day! She wind ip landing between some trees and picnic tables. I had to wait until the rain stopped. Luckily no water damage. I was flying ruko f11 gim2 at that time. Learning drone I call it! NEVERTHELESS! Great video! Fyi Geo Fencing as of now. I don't have that issue. I fly Autel Evo Lite Plus.

I had one on a Mavic air 2 where I was in the Big Sur area and was flying below me on the beach while I was up on the cliffs about 100 feet above. It didn't fly away ( I think) but lost contact and video. I was only 2 KM away when I lost contact so I thought it was because it was no longer line of sight. I went straight up with the sticks but still got no video. I waited about 5 minutes to see if it would return. It didn't. After about 8-10 minutes I rebooted the remote and when it came up it connected again. I'm still not sure why it happened but that was my 1st flight with the air 2. It wasn't windy or rainy so I have to figure it was a LOS thing. Anybody have any ideas?

Moral of story is things can go wrong and breaking connection to your remote sucks. Ugh lol glad u got it back.
