Hi Dawn. I wanted to be a Priest before I met my wife in 1983, then we had a wonderful blessed marriage that was all about our faith, and we had 5 awesome kids (adults now). Then she got cancer and suffered for 6 years (I was her caretaker). Now almost 2 years later, my heart has led me back to the Priesthood.
Advise that I found helpful is….”The foundation of a calling is not necessarily eligibility, but profound and unshakable Desire”. I think the best example of this is the movie “Rudy” (anyone that hasn’t seen that; see it!😃 Rudy is by all conventional accounts what one would call ineligible to play college football. One might even be tempted tell him that it’s simply not his “calling”. And most people probably couldn’t disagree, at least not logically. He was short and not very strong or impressive looking, but this did not crush or discourage his wild, albeit seemingly impractical desire. And off course it more than paid off at the end. Another good example is the movie Spider-Man 2, particularly the scene in the restaurant right after Doc Oc captures Mary Jane. Peter is given a profound moment of clarity in that scene about what he most profoundly desire. Great films; I’d recommend them to anyone who wants to put their mind at ease and stop worrying about their calling. Might help ☺️ There are far better things to stress over endlessly 🤪
Have you noticed more women becoming Religious solely because of the current dating climate? My female friends and I were looking into becoming nuns because we can’t stand meeting Barney Stinson’s all day, and we’re having zero luck finding Catholic men.
