People have made fun of my voice my entire life. Even my own father told me the sound of my voice was irritating. Now I don’t talk unless I have to. And now people are always asking me why I don’t talk as much as I used to… well why the fuck do you think? Words hurt people. I know this is a show and it’s supposed to be “a joke” but it’s also not. You may not realize it but a comment that you think is a joke, may be a serious insecurity to some one else.
I'm sorry that happened. Words DO hurt. I'm a very talkative extrovert and my mom is an introvert. She's a teacher and gave most of her social energy away to her students leaving little for me at the end if the day. This led to a lot of, "*my name* stop talking." Which then led to a lot of me asking "am I talking too much" when I found people who didn't actually mind. I still love my mom but that affected me. Moral of the story: don't change a part of yourself so much. Someone will appreciate that part.
i feel you, i never got told my voice is annoying but i got laughed at alot for pronouncing words the wrong way or been plainly told to shut up because what i was talking about wasn't interesting which resulted in me completly shutting off during my years in school. There is actually some context in the scene where Cristina makes fun of April's voice: Cristina just unsuccessfully operated on the husband (Henry) of the senior surgeon Cristina is operating with (Teddy Altman), leading to his death. However, Cristina was forced to assist on this surgery since she is the best assistant in this case. Altman was trying to ask Cristina about her husband (who she did not know was dead) and Cristina was forced to lie to her about the success of the surgery. Therefore, she made the joke in order to change the topic and hide her emotions so that she would not reveal the husband's death and affect this surgery. It was actually quite a sad scene with the context and April knew what was happening so she did not really blame or call out Cristina for it. Not sure if it is in any way excusable but it certainly adds to the depth and the dramatic element of the show.
April was bullied so much in the earlier seasons (In general nit by cristina) and i felt so bad for her. I'm so glad she got her epic boss attitude in the later seasons seriously some of the best character development

For me the cutest moment was after April failed the exam, and all hospitals called her back to withdrawn their offers, and Christina answered instead of April, saying she would have been a huge win for them and it's their loss to let April go. That was cute ❤
Honestly April’s entire career was trying to get Meredith, Alex, and Christina to respect her and failing miserably until she almost died and left the show
@NICOLE LUIS that’s because her focus shifted, she went from Jackson, then she had a depressive episode where she no longer believes in God so she was just spiraling but at the same time she would try and assert herself in every situation. Long story short she was neglected

april being chief resident was half and half imo. on one hand she was organized and responsible, perfect cut for chief resident, but she just doesn’t have a voice in the hospital and couldn’t control her residents, april was also TOO good at that job perhaps, to the point where she was actively called out multiple times even by her chief of surgery for becoming a hospital administrator instead of becoming a doctor like she aimed to be.
I must say that I didn’t love April at the start of this show. But now she is my favourite character❤️ she was treated so badly and now she can stand up for herself!
This pretty much describe it, like in the scene where she answers Aprils rejection calls for her the second call she made sure to let them know how great she was even though she would never tell her those things to her face
Her voice isn’t annoying and the fact that the writer made that into a running “joke” when that’s literally just how the actor sounds is kinda messed up
at that point in the episode, Christina had just returned after performing surgery on Teddy's husband, where he died in Christina's OR. While Teddy stands there unaware and asks Christina to help her with the surgery she is performing, everyone knows about the unfortunate things that happened to Teddy's husband except Teddy cz she was performing a procedure on another patient, Owen decides to not disclose the news to Teddy yet. In the gallery above, April sits there, also sad cz of what had happened and to diffuse the tension and make it seem like nothing is wrong Christina decides to imitate Kepner, it was not okay but, it was all she could think of to distract herself from Teddy's husband's death and focus on the surgery that was at hand.
Characters like Cristina are fun to watch and give life to the show but admit it we'd all hate her in real life. Nobody likes to be talked down to or mocked
Oof that's very true. Cristina is one my favourite greys characters but as a person on the other side of the conversation, she can seem very grating and snooty. While someone as kind and compassionate as April would have a bigger social circle than characters like Cristina or Alex.

If you don't know her or if you're not in the mood to be teased, it can come off as rude. Her bedside manners improved a lot from season 1 and she was way more emotionally open when she left the show. People like April may annoy you but she was never rude by default.

I did not like Kepner at first, I found her annoying, but she did loosen up after a while. I loved that she and Jackson fell truly in love. They were so sweet together, at times. I’m glad they showed her moving to Boston with him.
She was SO annoying, but somehow she became one of my favorites. You start to remember that although she might be annoying she didn't choose to have a high pitched voice and didn't choose to be so wound up all of the time. Honestly, she played her role PERFECTLY and could have won some awards if they had focused on her a little more. If you ran into Sara Drew on the street wouldn't you expect her to annoy you? Well, apparently she's a sweet lil lady who is friends with everyone, which is how you know that she played her role so well.

You can dislike her as much as you want, she might not have been gifted like some of them, but she was a hard worker and put a lot of effort into being the best that she could.
I actually like their friendship they weren't close friends and they didn't like each other at first but then when time passed they started to like each other and have each other's backs and they went through a lot together and Christina just says what she thinks and she's mean to everyone she's even mean to Meredith sometimes like no one thought Christina would care for George but we saw how it affected her or when he tells Owen why everything likes competition for her and when April was fired Cristina defended her even though they weren't close and didn't like each other back then I think they both had some problems and in that hospital, they grow and change and learned a bit so I actually liked their friendship

As much as Cristina is an icon in the show, if any of us knew her in real life or god forbid worked with her, we’d hate her. She’d come off really rude and pretty much a bully to anyone who wasn’t in her friend group or someone she didn’t fell deserved her respect.

I feel like they reached that special bond even by the time Cristina left. I REALLY love how their relationship had evolved so much from their first impressions. But I loved most that it was still so undefined. They didn't need a grand gesture or episode or story arch to flesh out their relationship. They still bickered and mocked each other but there was a genuine respect and comradery they had by Cristina's exit. I love that Cristina didn't become softer towards April and that April didn't become less harsh or naggy to Cristina. They just grew AROUND each other. If that makes sense. Their complete opposite personalities just found a way to sit comfortably beside each other. They both did so much growing up together it's wild to think about in hindsight. They were in each other's weddings, they were roommates, Cristina's husband was April's mentor, they had the shared trauma of being inside that OR during the shooting, April helped treat Owen when he was shot, April was around when Cristina was catatonic after the plane crash. They met as third year residents and by the time they parted ways they were grown attendings who'd gone through SO much trauma and success. I don't know.. I just really liked how they played out.
I think that the reason why Cristina always jabs on Kepner is because she also wants her to toughen up. I mean, I don’t think she’s had any significant loss in her life that could help her get that drive like Alex or Meredith. She was raised in a Christian household with conservative parents. She was not a shark until she became Chief resident and a trauma surgeon. And she was mostly emotional and attached to her patients.

I love Christina in the show. She made me laugh soo many times but sadly it hasn’t been the same without her. 😵💫
You can dislike her as much as you want, she might not have been gifted like some of them, but she was a hard worker and put a lot of effort into being the best that she could.
also, her hair is always amazing lol
april is one of the best characters the show has ever had. i hate how almost no one appreciated or respected her as much as she deserved.
I actually like their friendship they weren't close friends and they didn't like each other at first but then when time passed they started to like each other and have each other's backs and they went through a lot together and Christina just says what she thinks and she's mean to everyone she's even mean to Meredith sometimes like no one thought Christina would care for George but we saw how it affected her or when he tells Owen why everything likes competition for her and when April was fired Cristina defended her even though they weren't close and didn't like each other back then I think they both had some problems and in that hospital, they grow and change and learned a bit so I actually liked their friendship
April has always been my favorite character on the show, I love her♡

As much as Cristina is an icon in the show, if any of us knew her in real life or god forbid worked with her, we’d hate her. She’d come off really rude and pretty much a bully to anyone who wasn’t in her friend group or someone she didn’t fell deserved her respect.

i honestly feel like they made cristina mean to april with a hint of compassion at times and then eventually their characters were SUPPOSED to really bond,, but cristina left before they got a chance to do so
I feel like they reached that special bond even by the time Cristina left. I REALLY love how their relationship had evolved so much from their first impressions. But I loved most that it was still so undefined. They didn't need a grand gesture or episode or story arch to flesh out their relationship. They still bickered and mocked each other but there was a genuine respect and comradery they had by Cristina's exit. I love that Cristina didn't become softer towards April and that April didn't become less harsh or naggy to Cristina. They just grew AROUND each other. If that makes sense. Their complete opposite personalities just found a way to sit comfortably beside each other. They both did so much growing up together it's wild to think about in hindsight. They were in each other's weddings, they were roommates, Cristina's husband was April's mentor, they had the shared trauma of being inside that OR during the shooting, April helped treat Owen when he was shot, April was around when Cristina was catatonic after the plane crash. They met as third year residents and by the time they parted ways they were grown attendings who'd gone through SO much trauma and success. I don't know.. I just really liked how they played out.
I think that the reason why Cristina always jabs on Kepner is because she also wants her to toughen up. I mean, I don’t think she’s had any significant loss in her life that could help her get that drive like Alex or Meredith. She was raised in a Christian household with conservative parents. She was not a shark until she became Chief resident and a trauma surgeon. And she was mostly emotional and attached to her patients.

her voice is high pitch and she talks a lot when she's nervous or confused. that's why people make fun of her voice and call her annoying. it's not her fault for having that voice but if there is a doctor like her, the other dr might do mistake when they are operating bcs she could not stop talking and disturbing other people. so the thing is to reduce talking esp unnecessary things and try calm yourself.
