I read the title and immediately thought someone might be trying to bully you guys. I was instantly in mama bear mode lol. I wasn't having it.
Thought the exact thing
🎉 Keep up the good work!!!
Bees generally do ALL the work anyway. Apparently, you have the queen bee😅😊
Please showcase when you harvest that honey.😋
so many good people get bullied
People who can handle bees have a strong faith in God. And a whole lot of courage!! Awesome y'all!!
You need the other half of the bee suit for these types of procedures.
Mrs. H I never heard you curse before......😂😂😂. Those bees brought that out with their stings!
😂❤
😂 I know right! Sometimes pain will MAKE you say some things real quick!!! I love them and their caring dedication to nature.❤
Please Lord forgive him ❤I still love them plus they are helping others
Congratulations 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
You guys did an awesome job! Congratulations on your first swarm!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Your videos are the best marriage classes! Homesteaders yes, more so exemplary married couple! Well done! Pay attention young Homesteaders, this is how it is done successfully!
You are brave. I could not do anything with bees.
Your caption as startled me 😮 Glad it was honey bees and nothing else ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good job Mr & Mrs H❗
You guys are brave souls. I could never do this
Me neither!
I didn't realize what was going on. I thought you were trimming the tree. Scared me when Mr H fell. Glad you are ok. Ouch stings
I was mesmerised by your efforts in the darkening evening - well done and sorry you got a few stings. Shalom 😊
The bee on the camera.. .a star is born. 🐝
There’s this guy I believe his name is Dr. Lee. He specializes in Bees. I think he’s in Missouri. There’s someone in Alaska that has trouble over wintering bees. Even when they were in warmer weather. I was told a swarm is more hardy than ordering bees. I have very limited knowledge
Awesome catch!! I would do an alcohol wash to see if you have a problem. Thanks for sharing!!!
You guys did an awesome job 👍🏻😊
I hope I can help.....my family raised bees years ago...If you do not split your hives every year, they will swarm, leaving your hive weak and vulnerable...when they are very strong and run out of room, the queen leaves and takes at least half of the hive....if the old hive doesn't make a queen quickly enough, the old remaining hive will die....so look into "splitiing" your hives if you have not done that....if not, I think that may be why you are losing your hives......Let me know if you "split" your hive....Hope this helps....Louisiana Homestead....Mr. E and Miss Kay Kay
Great job.
Also, you should get a mentor. I know that many beekeepers become mentors for new beekeepers. You can call and text them and they help answer your questions. Check around your area and online to see your options.
Also, I don’t know when your hives died so it’s hard to say what the issue was. If it wasn’t too cold when they died, it could have been beetles. There’s a way to test how many beetles are in the hive and that will help you determine if you need to do a treatment or not. Good luck!!
I watch Mike Barry. Hive beetles can be trapped with oil traps. Varroa Mites are a different critter. You treat for varroa mites when there is a dearth when they are not bringing in honey. Because you don’t want your honey contaminated. You only treat the deeps. Not the honey supers. I caught two swarms this spring. Put an old brood comb in your trap and use swarm commander or lemon grass oil and put it on a qtip in the box you can also sprinkle the top of the frame and put it up about 8 feet above the ground on tree. It is the propolis and comb smell that attracts them.
Excellent video! Educational bravery!
You are a brave man, Mr.H! I did giggle a little when you hopped down from the ladder😁😅😂
I didn't laugh, but he was quick with it!
That was exciting to watch lol.
Most importantly, im so sorry you got stung! But the opening with you both in bee suits on a ladder got me chuckling and then the bee on the camera had me rolling on the floor. You both are too adorable and amazing!
You need the entire suit on
Excellent work! And actually only two stings for the first time is really great ❤
Wow!
Y’all did great😂
Hello Heart family, I use two sources of information about bees. Les Crowder and Ross Conrad, both are very knowledgeable and experienced with beekeeping and doing it naturally. I have books from both of them. Thank you for taking the time to share with us, 40 Shades of Green Farm, west Tennessee
Blessings Sis & Bro - Glad to see you. Happy Monday!
Mr. H is a brave man. I thought that he had fallen off the ladder. During Mrs. H explained what occurred, I had to chuckle myself. Great team work!
This is great video ❤ family
Im not sure if you’ve spoken to anyone yet but there are some things you can do. Reach out to some local beekeepers in your area and see what they’d recommend.
You can probably remove that comb and attach it to a frame. You can then put the frame back in without the bees losing any brood or resources. I’m not sure the best way to do this though because I’m not a beekeeper myself. I just love bees and have watched a ton of videos. Reach out for help to see what’s recommended!
Mr. H looked like he had a little panic there 😂
Bees are like CHARGE!! Sting everything troupes!
Be safe!!
❤thank you sharing this video. I was always wondering if you two were beekeepers & had access to producing honey. Now, I know😮
I hope that you share more about being a beekeeper of bees.
Oooeee, those bees are mad.
I saw its butt, with the stinger trying get the camera. Very good jub. You da man Mr. H
Thankfully you didn't get stung more than you did.
Alright Mrs H, better watch them four letter words, real funny though. Hahaha!🙏❤️🙂
Congratulations
Ya'll, this video was hilarious 😂 Congrats on your first swarm catch! You two are some brave souls! I would've been doing more than cursing 😂 Blessings 🙏🏾 ❤
🐝🐝🐝 you guys are hard workers like the BEES! Enjoy the honey.🍯🍯🍯
I thought you had crocs on at first. lol lovely catch. I had bees three years in a row, lost them every winter so I took last year off, not sure about this year yet.
He left you, but he came back for you 😂…..Awesome video!
Use grease around the legs of the stand your hives are in. The beetles will not cross the grase
Ya'll did awesome!
We put a Beatle hive container with vegetable oil in it in our hives. It helps. We also treat for mites every spring and fall. We use the strips in the hives. It helps a lot. Also the bees that you order in are not use to your area. It's always better to catch swarms because they come from your area and have made it through the winter. We also found out that feeding them over winter helped tremendously. I quit loosing so many hives just by doing those few things. Good luck. Bees are very fascinating creatures and also a mystery.
LF73, I’m sure, is very proud 😊of you both 😉.
I also try to keep hives in FULL SUN shady spots always gave me trouble with hive beetles
Love your videos
Glad that you both survived the moving of the hive! You guys are so cute together! 😊
🤣Congratulations! I have to go back and look at the limb cutting again. I think Mr. H broke the sound barrier. I heard a lot of noise after he was gone. I thought at first maybe the noise I heard was the limb falling to the ground, but I think I heard you say the limb fell in the box. What was all the noise after he was gone???
Mr. & Mrs. H, those were the bees that got away that year. They're home now, You guys are amazing, I wish I was your neighbor, I'd help out whenever you call!! Thanks for being my internet friends.
Neato wild swarm boxing! Hopefully they will like their new home and bee happy!
You have to keep an eye on your hives, because if they are healthy they will self divide and create new swarms. It is helpful to place a small amount of lemon grass oil in the new hive as the smell attracts the bees for some reason. You did good trapping that new hive.
I have never had the opportunity to try this myself thank goodness, but if you have plantain growing around your property, chew up the leaves and make a poultice out of it, and put it on your stings ❤
What a blessing! I'm glad you got them. Mrs. H you did what I would do. 😂😂 Love you both! Y'all awesome!
Put floor sweep around the colony about 1 inch thick and at least 12 inches around hive.
Good Day Mr. & Mrs. H !! Good job ! In early 70s my father & me started a bee business. By 1983 we had expanded to around 800 hives, lage honey house 2 commercial extractors & steam heated decappers. I could tell about the time an old deep brood box & medium super fell apart. No suit on that day. Well I took off for the woods & Palmettos bushes. Wound up with quite a few stings. Face swelled up o bad I could hardly see. 😂😂😂😂 IT truly was a sight. Good luck with them!!!
Lead Farmer 73 makes it look so easy! Ya'll did a great job too! Mr. and Mrs. H get those bee keepers pants! Always check your head and face cover before use. A friend of mine had a small hole she didn't know about and was stung on her face 83 times! Stay safe! ❤❤
Coming home from work years ago, I had gotten off a bus in front of my local park when a bee went up UNDER my pants! It stung me on my behind. I didn't know what had "pinched" me, but I slapped at it. When I got home that dead bee fell on the floor. You should have seen me with my pants off and my mother inspecting the area for a stinger. I had an ice pack on it for an hour, LOL! I steer clear of bees. Glad that you two weren't hurt. Mr H falling off that ladder and the bees repeatedly stinging you Mrs H had me concerned!
What a amazing experience to watch..without getting stung. I'd love to have bee boxes but I live in town. I appreciate you showing us how it's done. lol.
Second comment: I have always wanted to begin beekeeping but unfortunately do not have the space for it. Like you guys, I watch a ton of beekeeping videos.
From what I’ve seen other beekeepers do, it seems that overwintering bees is the most difficult part of beekeeping. For your past hives, did you feed them at all? You shouldn’t inspect during the winter but you can put out some sugar candy on the top of the hive under the lid and that can help. I know that some beekeepers don’t feed their bees in the winter but many do because you’re more likely to lose the hive by not feeding them. I don’t know how much resources they’re supposed to have when winter starts but you can look that up if you’re not sure.
Good luck with this season and hopefully they will survive the next winter! You have plenty of time to do some research 😊
Y’all are brave
This is impressive👍🏻
Beautiful, even though you messed up LOL
I'm sorry your got stung, Ma'am. Your adventures in beekeeping are very interesting. Thank you for sharing with us.
So much love for you and your husband! I started watching you before you bought your homestead. You taught me how to can without fear, especially meat! You've come so far! So happy for you. Many, many blessings to you and your family! Stay safe now. 🐝
Mrs. H your laughing was making me laugh. Good job guys…
Dont know if you two know Doug and Stacey, but Doctor Leo is awesome on bee keeping. I know he did a video on the hive beetle issue. He has his own site, but Doug and Stacey have a great bee keeping playlist with Doc Leo. I really like his horizontal hives.
💕 love you are taking care of the honey 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Bee's 👍
I was so hoping for a video of yours today!❤❤❤❤
Screen bottom board with oil trap.
Great video!! Yall were craking me up whispering while investigating the new swarm hive 😅
Mr. H, that's called the snip and dip 🤣 Yall tickle me! 😅❤
That's amazing 👏 😊🎉❤
Good job 😂
You are a great team!
You should consider coming to the Homesteading Conference with Doug and Stacy, next month. There will be a bee expert there this year!
Amazing swarm recovery! Sorry you got stung. Liiks like the bees went for a DIY design since they didn't have frames, but you can add a frame that's full above them, and keep adding above.
Great job
Great vid. I installed my first hive this weekend.
Mr.and Mrs.H I love watching you guys.
See Mrs. H those bees 🐝 got you for giggling at Mr. H when he ran 🏃🏾♀️ 😆 🤣 😂
You two impress the heck out of me! I'm not an easy person to impress either. Thank you for these great videos, wonderful knowledge, and entertainment! 💚🌻🌼🏵️🌸🌷🌺🌹
I can't even watch people working with bees! I am a total whimp where they are concerned, haha. You are amazing.
Wow you have bees too! So cool.
Don't worry. Bee happy.
Have you tried to put honey on the bee stings? If, there is a stinger still in you, the honey pushes it out as well as takes the pain and swelling down. It’s amazing! The bees that sting are also the ones that make the honey to heal you- God is AMAZING 🙏🏼
Yall are awesome, you said the right thing when that bee stung you😃
Supposedly wet tobacco on the sting is supposed to help supposedly
You did awesome for a first timer
That what my grandma used t give me when I go into a yellowjacket nest.
Chewing tabbaca spit, yep😬😂
Peace and love homestead heart I saw a video where they used 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and a scoop of bees shake them till all over with the sugar than shake the powder out and if you have mites they will be in the sugar without killing the bees
Well done on catching your first swarm. My excitement of catching bees was much simpler,I just left a hive out, baited with a few drops of lemongrass oil..within a week a swarm moved themselves straight in. My hive was a bit of a mess to start with as I'd left lots of open space, just added frames into gaps where I could and gradually they sorted themselves out into a more organised way. Still more frames to add into the box, mine wasn't a huge swarm though, they made up 5 frames in three weeks.
Two things I do not mess with: 1. Snakes 2. Bees! God Bless you.
I ❤❤❤love this I remember when you first started with bees and wasn't having luck now you and Mr. H look like professionals!!❤❤❤
Mr H took off like a rocket 😂😂😂 l don't blame him
When we were kids my mom put a paste of vinegar and baking soda to drawer the stinger out
I have caught 8 Swarms in the last week. I split my hives to try and prevent swarming. But there are a lot of people doing bees in my area now. Free bees, but i am running out of room for them now LOL. I try and just keep 8 to 10 Hives a year. But as of right now I have 25 Hives. Love bees, but that many becomes a big job. Tell Mr. H to be careful on that ladder. I though he had fallen and hurt himself.
Hi Mr and Mrs H, 😀😀 glad that you both are good. Thanks for sharing that experience with us ❤you did an amazing job
Love your videos. ❤
