  • This Combi Camp is a 1988 model imported from Denmark. It's near showroom condition, for being 30 years old. This video shows the initial "opening" of the shell and how easy it is to make the sleeping shelter. I have 6 short videos of the full process to make it a full camper, including the zip-on annex room. I used it in the Wyoming back-country, towed behind my Polaris ATV. I would load the Kayak, chairs, fishing gear, etc. on top of the "rack"....which becomes the platform the camper floor rests on.

I had one of these in the early 70s. We loved it for its simplicity and durability. Lots of fun. Sure do wish I could find another.

Had one of these and loved it. Used to carry a small sailboat on top.

That's the smaller one, I have the Family combi. These were only sold by Imported Cars in Royal Oak Michigan, they sadly are no longer in business. I bought mine used (750.00) from Campers Paradise who took it on trade for a Palamino pop up. I still have mine, but am looking for the newer version with blue and grey canvas. I contacted Combi-Camp about being a US dealer and they replied back saying they had no plans to import to the US.

There is no way I could handle doing it, but I just chatted with them a couple weeks ago and said I need to find someone to import from you so I can buy one and they liked the idea. Contact them again and if you end up becoming an importer, I'll be first in line to buy.

So help me out a little here. I've got a 1989 Danish Design.. basically the same model. When I open it up completely, my floor support rack and the level of my trailer are off balance. If the floor support rack is perfectly level on the ground, the nose of my trailer is way too high. I've had to put chocks and 2x4s under the corners of the support rack to level it out. And even then, my stabilizers won't lower enough to allow the bed extension piece to clip in. Im at a loss for how to fix these issues I'm having.

I would guess you have the wrong size tires on the trailer. A taller tire would make better ground clearance, but also throw off the geometry when it's folded out and cause the hitch end to point skyward. I don't have mine any longer or could tell you what size should be on it. Hope that solves your mystery.

Another thought...at 9:34 in the video, you can see the tire size label for my spare tire I mounted underneath. Pause it and use a magnifying glass...might be able to read it.

You could try pipe insulation/noodles fixed to the rack with cable ties helps to soften the rack on stones ground.

I'm wondering if that could be towed by a small truck at 60-65 mph down the highway. I've seen newer models of these , I can't recall the maker now.....but I love the easy set up of it.

The model shown could be towed with a motorcycle.

I towed this actual camper with my dodge truck 65 mph with no problems for 300 miles trips

Hi do you know what the wheel size is? I need to replace before I can tow. Thank you

I sold it a couple years ago but if you zoom in on the undercarriage view in the video, I mention the spare tire. You can see the size label sticker still on the spare tire. Maybe that will help. They are common road tires for small trailers.

Lol....just old fart attire in the summer heat of the Wyoming high desert. Loose and thin is best!
