We had bigger and better stars in the 60s & 70s than you have now with all your technology. RIP David Cassidy, multi-talented star.

David Cassidy made a huge contribution to the pop culture of the 70s.
Excellent, well produced and well delivered songs that sold in their millions not only because they were very good but because he was an accomplished artist, musician, singer and entertainer who loved and worked hard at his craft.
You can't create a global music phenomenon with sell out world tours, top selling albums and singles through a decade by just being second rate, and David was far from that and highly respected by his peers.
Very few artists make a successful transition to acting and actors to singing but David Cassidy amazingly accomplished both and progressed with success on both Broadway and Vegas and live music shows through the remainder of his career.
A strong work ethic installed by his family and sound advice from his actor entertainer father, Jack Cassidy 'Talent and doing the work is the only commodity that stands the test of time' certainly stood him well throughout his career and leaves a musical legacy to be proud of.

Steve O Show Thank you Steve O. I completely agree. I am heartbroken that there has been no media coverage of his passing. No tribute editions, no covers...he deserved so much better, SO MUCH BETTER, rest in peace, beautiful, talented David

Hello AMTB - your kind words much appreciated. Here for you is another fascinating 1 hour interview. - ruclips.net/video/XktJ2h0EXZg/видео.html probably the most real and candid of all of the ones he did through the years, I believe recorded in the last year of his life, it's very revealing and reflects how much he loved life, his work and music, most entertaining.
Besides radio & music sets (check out my playlists on RUclips) I'm building up my music blogging mostly on the rock pop & soul music culture, and my blog on DC reflects my style and respect of artists on the genres mentions.
I am on Facebook with Steve O Show ( like & follow with my regular music updatesfrom the soundtrack of your life!) ) and my website which includes interviews with stars of the 70s & 80s is there to enjoy.
      All the best, SteveO

beautiful tribute to David. and so very true. He was talented in so many ways and very smart. Moreover, a lovely person. He truly appreciated decent people he met and affected his life (like John Lennon). Great and terrific man. xxx I hope he is proud of himself. he should be. xx

The more I read about him and listen to his story, I see many strong parallels between him.and Elvis. David went away, to Hawaii, for a.few years after The Partridge Family, to cleanse his mind, body and soul from Hollywood and no one knew where exactly. he was. Smart, sweet David. Very smart. ,

Did he write an autobiography? If not, I wish that someone who was very close to him during his earliest years would collaborate with him to create a high quality account, without all the gimicry used in books that stand in the way of a story's telling, such as the use of glaring descriptive words and other unnatural ways of compensating for a presumed limit of vocabulary and other language skills, thereby making it more of an easy reader... as if no one can possibly lean a new word along the way.

I understand his attitude toward TPF but it was what made him famous. He should be thankful for it. So many people have jobs that they hate but have to keep on keeping on bc it is what pays the bills. I wish there had been 4 more years of PF songs because THEY WERE GOOD SONGS! It was good music! but he has to dis it. I wish he would have just sucked it up until his contract was fulfilled and THEN he could have went and did concert tours of his Own Music That would have been the thing to do.

The partridge Family viewer numbers dropped significantly when it was switched from Friday to Saturday night in season 4. Also, comedy was changing. He fulfilled the contract he signed as an adult which was for four years. The producers weren't allowing Keith to grow older and develop, which would have had him playing a teenager at nearly 30 if he'd carried on. He was also totally burnt out. His autobiography states he was very proud of particular PF albums, and continued to revisit those songs throughout his career, because he knew they were great songs.

Wasn't Keith in college in season 4? I think Laurie was a freshman. I read the producers were thinking of bringing in Rick Springfield as a college boarder, since David wanted out. But the ratings tanked. It is too bad everything soured, and they almost worked him to death. The show was cute and fun.

ITA, but he had to think about his mental a d physical health back then too. If he was burned out, than he was wise to want out. But I think k he was wrong to put down his famed character for decades when it was his meal ticket, and the reason generations adored him.
