A couple of other inexpensive 92mm tower options are the Arctic i13x and the ID Cooling SE 914-XT, both of which are less than $30US including lga 1700 brackets. They will fit in most any tower case, while the 120mm and larger ones here usually require a gaming case. Beware that lga1700 backplates tend to be VERY thick, especially stacked on top of the already thick socket backplate on the motherboard, so if you don't have a tray cutout behind your CPU area, you may need to stick with the stock cooler.
Something else to consider if you're using an inexpensive board with VRMs that get hot is that switching to a tower style cooler will make the VRMs much hotter. In that situation I recommend considering a downdraft option like the ID Cooling IS60 Evo.

Guilty as charged when it comes to aesthetic considerations. I just love AiOs (any AiO, really) for the fact that you can see so much more of the board. I had a no-frills Corsair H60 in my old Haswell-system and now I'm running the Lian Li Galahad 240 V2 on my new 12600K and it hasn't disappointed me yet. With a clumsy manual per-core overclock on the P-cores (to 5200 MHz, without any manual voltage adjustment), the CPU's power consumption shot up to 181 W and temps reached a little over 90°C. Stock was 61° to 67°C at just under 120 W.
Since I wasn't sure how to set my voltages (they were way too high I guess with 1.311 to 1.327V across all cores), I then went to the auto OC option of my MSI Tomahawk (turbo offset) and set a +2 boost on both the P- and E-cores. Frequencies are now 5100 MHz on the P- and 3800 on the E-cores, with power draw at 136 to 138 W and much more reasonable voltages (1.266 to 1.291V). It still gave me a nice boost of around 15% in CPU benchmarks (only slightly less of an uplift than the manual OC to 5200) and temps on all cores range from 71 to 78°C, with the radiator fans never exceeding 60%. I could probably go even higher with this cooler, but the fans get pretty loud at max RPM, so I've settled for the +2/+2 auto-OC for now.

The 224XT yet again is a great cooler for the price. I've bought 2 of these now and they are just excellent for this level of cpu like 11600k, 5600x/12400/12600.

Made a budget build with a 3060 and a 12400f. Wanted to test the stock cooler, 60 to 70°C when gaming but its louder than a straight piped tractor.
Then i got a 212 EVO V2 and cpu temps are amazing. Under heavy load 75°C max.

I had a Core I3-12100 that, under any load, would not go above 71c running an Arctic 420. I bought an I5-12600 non-K thinking the two extra cores would be useful and at the same 3.30 GHZ it would be the at the same speed as the I3 without too much extra heat. The I5 runs 25c - 35c at idle but will easily get up to 90c - 100c quickly under heavy load. I don't know how to undervolt vut I have all the fan curves set for a little back pressure in the Fractal Design XL. Not sure what to do.

You will need to confirm with the retailer. However, ID Cooling have 'borrowed' Noctuas design for the brackets to the point where you can use the Noctua LGA 1700 fitting kit (On amazon for $8) to fit this cooler. So there are ways to make it work! Just weigh up the cost vs a cooler that you know has the right brackets included. I would hope that ID Cooling are shipping with the correct brackets now, it's been 6 months.

I think you'd be at the limit of that cooler. 80-90C sure, with good case airflow, but I'd want something a bit beefier ideally. Scythe mugen Rev B, Peerless Assassin 140, Dark rock 4... just a couple more heat pipes and a slightly bigger fan, ideally.

I have an i5 12600KF, cooled with a Noctua U12S Redux, sitting in a Corsair 110R with two Rosewill 140mm intake fans up front and the 120mm stock exhaust fan in the rear. I do not overclock my CPU. Using Furmark's CPU Burner utility (100% CPU usage across all cores), temps stay at or below 74C. I ran the test for about 15 mins or so.
The 212 will likely not outperform the Noctua, but it won't do that much worse, either. It may top out near 80C at full load.

I'd start with either a good quality Air tower cooler, like the Scythe Mugen Rev B or Thermaltake Peerless assassin (check you can get the brackets for these two!) or else the Noctua NH-D15S is a very quiet and capable cooler.
Otherwise, look to a 240mm or larger AIO. The Arctic Liquid Freezer II is great value but they all perform about the same, and 240mm+ is plenty for the 150W max output of the 12600K.

For most normal computer functions, it's fine, but it will throttle if pushed to 100% for an extended period of time. Plus, it's louder than 120mm or even 92mm tower coolers. It's best to consider an inexpensive aftermarket cooler for this chip.

They're generally not recommended: They're only as good as a 120mm air tower cooler, but add in the noise and complexity of a water cooler - there's the small risk of leaks or pump failure to complicate things. We'd choose a 120mm Tower cooler instead, unless your case design prohibits it.

My recommendation would be the Arctic Freezer 34 E-Sports Duo. You can get it bundled with a socket 1700 kit for less than $50, and it will keep 12700 temps well below 80C at full load. It will slightly outperform a Fuma 2, and is significantly less expensive than an NH-D15S.

@@jaseem7 In sheer performance, the Fuma 2 is not better. It is quieter, though. If you think it will run hot on the E-Sports Duo, it will definitely run hotter on a Fuma 2. If you are that concerned about heat, you could try a DeepCool AK620. It gives you NH-D15 performance for about $60.
The E-Sports Duo, used on a 12900K, runs hot, peaking in the mid 90's C. I'm sure it can keep a 12700 under control. If I were building a 12700 system for myself, I would likely target an E-Sports Duo. I might just do that, if prices get more enticing.
