AcidGlow 2005 Adaptation
My favorite is still the 1953 version. I love the manta ray design of the ships
Would like more info on their terraforming efforts with the red stuff they spray everywhere.
AcidGlow This was a. awesome explained video I loved it!
+Yes I did love the Alien design for the 2005 film, they were very unique looking!
I was 6 when I first watched this, the aliens themselves didn't bother me at all, but the ships and that horn scared the shit out of me😂
I read the book when i was a kid, staying up all night. Then air got trapped in the central heating, and started banging away. I was convinced there were Martian tripods outside my window.
Dedoid's High Vis Vest holy shit yes 😂
LOL Same. Got childhood ptsd from that damn thing.
Dedoid's High Vis Vest same
Can relate so much... I live right beside a football pitch just a field away and I looked out my window at like 11pm after watching the movie and I saw the flood lights just standing tall with 3 main lights shining. I didn't sleep that night.
The 2005 movie explains the aliens perfectly. Extremelly İntelligent But Utterly Arrogant & Spoiled with their Technology.
They are Anatomically weak; and seemingly suprised with the Humanity's social structure (the family photograph scene)
so this might mean they're more militaristic...
İn the end they paid for their extreme Pride & Arrogance with utter humiliation at the simpliest species on Earth.
Bacteria & Viruses
They are quite stupid for not considering the threat of germs. And they must have known that germs exist, because ”they were watching us for a long time”
If they had wiped out harmful microorganisms in their distant past, would they even think to look for them?
Actually I think it's more of a humiliation for the humans since even when we threw everything and the kitchen sink at them it did nothing but the bacteria we have no power over just did it like that.
楽 楽
Too much Arrogance and/or Greed.
They could assume their world's gems are more likely to infect/conquer that planet rather than the other way around.
Or the aliens had too big faith in their biology's being supreme to earth's
楽 楽 now if they have been watching the different war of the worlds adaptations, we're F up.
the 2005 Martians and Tripods are the best looking ones, personally. They look more what many consider to be 'alien,' a strange body style, unnatural looking skin and terrifying technology.
They look like "greys" which already have an unsettling "aura" around them. It was then modified to look slightly squid - like.
Peter Hunter I’d say the original ones and the 2005 ones where the best
They also had that alien writing which topped it off
They... don't... even... use... clothes...
@@TheNamelessOne888 you can say they are greys with less humanoid shape which is accurate since aliens will look very different from us only the face is a little bit similar but the rest of the body is completely out of this world
I thought the sound they added to the alien ship's in the 2005 remake was creepy!
You mean that horn sound?
AcidGlow he probs does, that thing was sucking epic
Still not as good as the musicals "OOO-LA!"

I liked the idea to this that bacteria and germs killed them, rather than it just being another 'America save the day' film lol
Dedoid's High Vis Vest I agree with trumpepe.
Hmmmm, 'America save the day', you do realize it was made by a British man in the UK?
Dash Rendar It is clearly based in America, so I don't see what your point is, the director/writer has nothing to do with effecting a storyline depending on their background
Dedoid's High Vis Vest I apologize. I misunderstood what the comment was referring to.
Dash Rendar no problem dude
I like the tripod design from the musical adaption, but I also like the design from the great Martian war documentary, but the sounds the tripods made in the 2005 adaption were amazing.
Apparently they use those to communicate(IE attack, stop, etc)
The 2005 tripods are amazing and terrifying in general
spudomupit I agree with you.
2005's were SUPERIOR IN ALL WAYS
spudomupit jezuZ that profile picture man is so creepy
Design-wise, I like the 2005 aliens and their tripods. Plus the sound they make with their tripods made them look even more menacing and undefeatable.
I wouldn't say that is one leg in the back, and two arms in the front. They're three legs. The aliens are basically tripods.
Look again, the rear leg has a foot made obvious by the heel shape, the front "legs" are actually arms as they have hands on the end, no heels.
If it was not for that detail then i would agree with you.
CuttingEdges They are frog legs 👽👽👽👽👾👾👾🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸
well funny you should say that, the "hunter" creatures from resident evil were meant to contain mutated amphibian DNA, i saw a resemblance between the 2.
Gary Moore Very cooool 😁😁🐸🐸🐸🐸
Gary Moore If you look at 1:12, that definitely looks amphibian..🐸🐸
the 1953 war of the worlds war machines are my favorite ones, but the aliens from the 2005 version are quite interesting (made sense why the machines are tripods, the creatures are tripedal).
Even though they are not accurate to the original descriptions, the originality factor compensates, in my opinion, of course.
the 2005 tripod is the most faithful adaptation ever.
I read somewhere that their technology is based on artificial muscles since they never invented the wheel. That's why they have walking machines with tentacles and why the alien in the basement is paying so much attention to the bicycle.
It's an interesting idea but I don't think any technologically advanced civilization can exist without using wheels.
JC130676 That is a very awesome theory.
@@vanguard6498 no the most faithful one is the alvim Correa ones.

Surprised Dakota Fanning's screams didn't make their heads explode in the 2005 movie
after all of humanity weapons and guns failed...the alien race was killed by the least expected thing..the never ending scream of Dakota fanning.... but they'll be back.....and with ear plugs!
roughy762004 omg so true. Her scream was the most annoying thing to the point where I was rooting for te aliens to kill her
After killing most of the human race, the tripods were driven to turn the heatrays on themselves due to the annoying screams of a little bitch
haha the scream worked in mars attacks
You mean Banshee?
Wait wait.... so the aliens in the movie are called more taxes!? 😨😲😂😓
LOL! =D
#subliminalmessages
Not sure the alien itself or the implication is more terrifying.
Humans didn't pay their galactic taxes
More Texans is way more terrifying than paying extra tax
Aliens: Now I can conquer this puny planet and eat and drink there blood
Bacteria: *IM ABOUT TO END THIS MANS WHOLE CAREER*
🤣
these aliens need to work on their anti bacteria stuff so they survive hahah
Marop Craft They pulled off a Alien Covenant. Next time they should wear space suits
Enderzilla747™ or Leo Miranda hahah
Meanwhile, the original story says they observed humanity for thousands of years. I guess they failed to notice every pandemic in history.
That's if they can somehow collect samples of diseases and bring them to their home planet so that they can develop vaccines or cures to fight off Earth's germs.
THEY DON'T ADAPT TO THE FUCKING ATMOSPHERE YOU DUMBASS
Thanks for making this video, i am like the only person that still wants a sequel
Leviewit lit insane amazing perfect that is what we need
The aliens in War of the Worlds (2005) were so terrifying, evil, ruthless, and diabolic! The tripods made us humans seem so insignificant and powerless. But I’ve always found them mysterious. Thank you for explaining!
Thats what i love and also that the Aliens never saw a wheel what is shown into the movie
They always use 3 pods or 3 poded things to move
Never a wheel and also it seems that they arent able to fly like in ufos or „planes“ because there is no need they can travel via storms like shown in the beginning i think the storm should show a wormhole
@@blitzi9631 damn i didnt think abt a wormhole but yeah i think these aliens are menacing but physically weak first of all they are able to crawl basically everywhere like if they weighted light and also they are mostly very skinny my theory is that all of their proteins go in their heads and brain instead of body thats why they are so smart
@@Marie-SimsDufourthey i think they are amphibians
can you please do a video of the Aliens from signs
James Dupuis yess!!!
Depends what you mean by aliens. Some say, the entire move depending on your perspective is actually about good and evil. Mel gibsons character losing faith in his religion because of his wife's death and the beings portrayed as aliens are in fact his demons. Subtle "signs" in the video include, holy water burning the beings at the end etc. Re watch it with this perspective and you might see it differently. :)
Matthew Vincent Intresting way to look at it i moght go back and try that. But you cant ignore the fact that the aliens are a physical thing that characters other then Gibson can see. for instance the ufos on the news and the alien at the Mexican party? how can they see them if its only for Gibson to experience?
Matthew Vincent They'd still be aliens.
mind blown
I really prefer the 2005 Tripod a lot fûcking better than the others
The thing I found most interesting is the fact that their ships, or ‘tripods’ were already buried in the earth before the pilots were beamed-down in the lightning strikes. Tim Robbin’s character even briefly mentions this fact to Tom Cruise when he states “They were buried here before man even set his foot on this Earth”. It makes you think that at some earlier era they came to earth (how they survived the micro-organisms back then IDK) But still, very intriguing to think about them having previously visited Earth & how they planned it all out with the future invasion...
The bacteria of aliens hundreds of thousands of years have evolved to be much different than the ones of 2005. They had no immunity because they had not been on Earth for thousands of years.
@@SALEENS7GTR5 lol no, not thousands but millions of years
What if they harvested the dinosaurs like how they tried to with the humans and that's why the tripods were there before
They probably beamed the tripods down similarly to how they did it with themselves later.
im probably the only one that wants a toy tripod
I have seen models of it in ebay.
@@Jalide
There was a Lego set version of it that I had got and built.
Jordan 'Thermite' Trace from where??..
"Chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one, they said... BUT STILL, THEY COME!!!"
That is a very high chance
The 2005 tripods, in my opinion, were the best because they had a consistent and realistic look to them. Though the martians seem to just a tad dumber in the 2005 movie considering that they had already been to Earth (Or at least sent things there) and had no plan for the bacteria and such.
Yes. The notion that they had already been to Earth undermined the story somewhat. Would the pioneers not have perished horribly or - worse - brought the Earth bacteria back to their homeworld?!
But the tripods are fabulous - so hissingly, grindingly super-mechanical (a walking engine of glittering metal with articulate ropes of steel)... they're a perfect tribute to the OSM.
The creatures, however? They're a little... meh. The original aliens were based on a satirical idea of human evolution. Spielberg's? They were a little disappointing. Far too recognisably anthropomorphic with jointed limbs & digits, even a mobile lower jaw and eyelids. Far too human.
Microbes evolve like everything else. That is there reason why certain vaccines are updated, the Flu vaccine being the most prominent. Everyone who thought the notion of microbes killing an advanced alien race being stupid, needs to look at our own history. While it happened inversely, European colonizers of the Americas and the Pacific killed a good portion of the native populations by bringing diseases the natives were not exposed to, with them. If you have no immune defense to something, it is more than plausible you will be affected by it. Furthermore, despite how far we've come as humans, we still have ignorant fools like anti-vaxxers bringing measles and polio back through their unfortunate children because they don't think we need vaccines for diseases we have not seen in decades (they never consider that the reason why we have not seen them is because the vaccines are doing their job which always makes me face palm). Scientific discovery and advanced engineering in a civilization does not equate enlightenment. It could very well be that the aliens had a superiority complex and themselves did not fathom anything could bring them down since they have the technological edge, or had success in conquering other worlds without issue. NASA already considers the possibility that we may have to deal with alien diseases if we ever discover a life capable world we can travel to once we have the tech to do so.
According to the writer, the tripods were planted as a backup in case they couldn't salvage their planet. Beyond that, we really don't know what they knew about the planet beyond its basic hospitality to life.
Although they had been here before (as evinced by the previously planted technology, to await their arrival) there is no evidence that they were here themselves - they merely installed their tech in order to facilitate a later invasion.
Given that scenario, there is no reason to assume that they would have any understanding of the concept of bacterial (or viral) infection - the very idea is literally alien to them, and watching the local wildlife live and die was of no interest as it seemed irrelevant to their intentions. For a creature with no experience of infection, appreciating the risk would be like an octopus trying to appreciate Vivaldi.
It is interesting that H.G. Wells conceived of that very idea as early as 1897, when he first wrote the story. This was not initially published in book form, but was instead serialised in magazines in both the United Kingdom and in the USA.
To be fair, the tripods were probably planted in a similar manner to how they beamed aliens down in the movie, and they were probably unaware of viruses because they were only concerned with humans.
A big part of their defeat was the reliance on “living” biofuels that, when affected by bacteria and viruses, became weak and ultimately useless. As shown in many adaptations, the longer the tripods are on the surface, the weaker their offensive and defensive capabilities became.
As a person who loves the original novel by HG Wells, I have came to love the tripods that are within the the Jeff Waynes musical as they seem so robotic and have a lack of metallic tentacles (except for one scene in "The artilleryman and the fighting machine"), I also love how Jeff Wayne changed in his version that tripods don't pick up people but the handling machine does, since in the book it was only made to mix metals to create an alloy to make more tripods and other machines
Alien tripod vs AT-AT walker ,which one would win ?
Chances are the Tripod would win since it's more agile than AT-AT.
But if AT-AT can keep a safe distance from the Tripod, it could just blast it all the way.
But then again, as we've seen from Rogue One, AT-AT legs aren't that strong, when the U-Wing door gunner shot his M60-ish blaster at it's legs and it's easily break.
Rogue One AT-ATs are an earlier model. That weapon fire that brought them down in Rogue One wouldn't even phase the AT-AT Model used on Hoth.
+enigmayshi
You got that right. Still, range is AT-AT only ally when fighting Tripod. If the Tripod could get close to AT-AT, it would wrap it's tentacles around AT-AT and tip it over.
Not sure a Tripod has the strength to tip one over. I'd be more worried about the heat beams and if they had the strength to penetrate the armor.
As well as if the At-Ats weapons could overcome the Tripod's shields.
Considering that Wedge used small cable to tie AT-AT's legs, I'm sure Tripod's tentacles would be sufficient enough to do it.
I grew up with the Jeff Wayne musical version, so to me, although I enjoy seeing all interpretations, theirs is the most iconic.
Kainlarsen
I agree with you I like the Musical version of the war of the worlds
I agree. The tripods depicted in the album artwork are the most menacing and impressive looking fighting machines. The ealy sketches I've seen relating to the HG Wells novels depicts them as rather comical and awkward looking by todays standards, although I'm sure they were impressive in the 1890's! The machines in Spielbergs film are also excellent, although I don't really regard it as WOTW, more just a well made SciFi film, very loosely based on the WOTW story. I'm looking forard to the BBC mini series later this year.
personally, i love all the war of the world's versions. every story it's just wonderful to me
2005 designs are impressive
Yes, I like this design, I think this 2005 tripod design is perfect killing machine of futurn human.
I love you for uploading this
Your videos are very interesting!
Say what you want about Spielberg's movie and the aliens looking different, I think he captured the look of the tripods flawlessly, especially in making them look almost alive, biomechanical, the book described them like that. When I think of the tripods, I think about Spielberg's.
But I also love the designs from that League of Extraordinary Gentlemen storyline.
ok so when hostile aliens invade just cough really hard on them

The Tripods design and the menacing ship-horn sound they make, makes them the scariest killing machines I've ever seen in an alien invasion movie.
War of The Worlds is probably one of the few movies that were nightmare fuel for me as a child. I remember watching it for the first time on TV back when I was seven years old. I remember seeing the first Tripod rise from the ground in the beggining of the movie, and puking my guts out in horror after hearing its otherwordly horn and noticing the violent deaths of all those civilians...

Yaujta A.k.A Predman MARSIANS XD
Great video Carlos. I'm a fan of the TV series which expanded on the original movie. :)
sometimes i have dreams of running away from the tripods or encountering the aliens. i remember driveing on a road by a line of trees. i remember looking up on a turn and seeing the tripods that were a little taller than the pinecone trees. i sped up in terror. i remember wanting to head into a city but all i saw in its direction was red And black clouds with fire. another dream is where i encounter the aliens and its recent. i remember heading into this weird hotel that wasn't touched. i headed in with other people and took an elevator to the top. (this hotel was 2 stories tall) when the elevator doors opened, i saw the elevator across from me open and an alien that looked exactly like the 2005 kind spooked me (if they hadn't all ready) and i quickly pushed the button to go to the next floor. i headed downwards to safty when the doors opened to find the alien across from me again. i then hit the first floor button. the door opened but the other elevator didn't so i guessed i tricked it. i head out of the building to my car when i looked back to see the roof was on fire. then i woke up. (2005 ver was my favorite and first WOTW movie. i was born in 2004 actually. loved the drama in the movie like when the train was set on fire, the army on the hill, people running away like in the ferry scene when the tripods came over the hill or when the first tripod came. the plane crash, seeing the tripods in the city when the news showed tom, the tripods were black and scary aswell the horn and martians. i dont know why people hate that movie but i will forever love it.)
the first dream has connections the the movie haha
I also had these dreams many times
I also had a dream about this movie, I was in a vehicle, and I was near a very small river, and I saw the tripod, either far away or close, walking in the direction of where my car was, but slightly to the right, and it did not see me. I also had a dream where I was in my house and I saw the spot lights shi ring in through my windows, but I'm not exactly sure if it is the tripod, and it destroyed half of the house by the lazer.
I also had dreams about war of the worlds. I remember 2 dreams, one was that my father had been captured by one of the tripods, and the other, it was a dream that I fought against one of the Martians
of the worlds war movie. When he came into my house, looking for human beings, and found me, he snarled at me, and started fighting me, I remember he was trying to bite my leg, and I was trying to go to kitchen get a knife to kill him
the story traditionally has them coming from Mars specifically
The 1953 version of WotW is still my favorite. The Manta Ray ship design and sound was so menacing. The 3 strip Techicolor is so rich and vibrant. Plus, Gene Barry and Ann Robinson were excellent in their rolls. I'm 53 years old and I remember watching it for the first time as a kid with my dad. It really made an impression on me. 🖖
Lmaoo acid glow does listen to my comments :d
When I saw It when I was little

This made me laugh
personally i liked the late 19th century adaptation where the Martians are attacking Great Britain in its golden age mostly because unlike all others adaptations the Martians are not driving unstoppable god machines. and our weapons can take them down because then the story is a fight for survival not just run away till they die
yes!!!!!!!
The first two seconds of the video nearly made me crap myself! Lol! Btw, this was very informational!
😀
Honestly I liked the 2005 movie despite the fact everyone hated it and I have a theory that hate came from the movie not being Jeff Wayne's adaptation. and the tripods were actually really scary in the 2005 movie really gave me the chills
Those that landed in Detroit had their legs and laser beams taken off and pawned for cash
I personally enjoyed the Pendragon version. Yes, it was a terrible movie with horrific effects and mediocre acting.. but it stayed pure and exact to the actual story from HG. Wells.
I loved spielburgs designs. Horrific, realistic, and advanced.
I love the design of the tripods from the 2005 film, and still do. I have always been very interested in the tripods. Spielberg should have earn a big reward for this one.
The Empire would destroy them all!!!!
I mean duh
war of the worlds Goliath hands down the best version ever. look it up and weep at the fact you never saw it earlier.
thefenrir777 holy shit
I own it...AND IT IS AWESOME!
well if the war of the worlds 2005 will have a sequel probably it will be a little bit similar to the goliath
Does anyone know if there will be a sequel to the one released in 2005? if so i kinda want it to be the same tripods and aliens, and hopefully we get to see the inside of a tripod
It might still be on Netflix, watched it a few years ago and was like damn, this is good, little odd, but very original and reminds me of the book a little, as it takes place after the book.
I remember watching this film when I was 10 years old one year after 2005. This film changed my fascination with alien and dinosaurs.
One interesting detail in the 2005 movie was them being fascinated by a hung up bicycle. That one may be a mythology nod to the original stories where it was discovered that none of their technologies included wheels of any kind, they had never developed one and the concept was "alien" to them.
Is it true that the British ate the native people of the lands they colonized?
...perhaps
Where did you find that photo of the Jeff Wayne tripod?
loved the 2017 design and Jeff waynes
the jeff wanes war of the worlds musical version is my fav designs , the booklet with them images as you listen to it haunted me as a kid and i loved it.
The Jeff Wayne Fighting Machine is the best and most iconic design.
Word tripod bra.👾
My favorite adaptation/design comes from the mockumentary (Idk if thats the right term but a fictional film made to be like a documentary xD) from 2013 titled "The Great Martian War", the way the tripods and other machines are designed are probably the creepiest (and coolest looking, personally) design to date, possibly aided in that all the 'footage' of them is in black and white.
The description in the book is awesome. I'd love to see it visualized on screen.
I remember reading the book, and you could really feel the "HOLY SHIT WHAT IS THAT!" vibe when people were getting disintegrated. Like people were literally going insane because of how strange it was to them.
The tripods on the album cover of Jeff Wayne's adaptation of the musical story told through narration and prog rock. Also in the album sleeve there's some really cool illustrations of the martion's destroying the earth, a must listen.
The tripods from Spielberg's movie are my favorite. I love their graceful movements and their terrifying horn.
My favorite is the 2005 fighting machine, the most faithful adaptation of Wells description
Me too
The main walking tentacle armed machine looked rather menacing even after being hit with those stinger missiles. I'd have to say that was the best.
While rarely referenced, the TV Series War of the Worlds was awesome,. Terrorists seize a military base where the aliens were packed in drums by the American military but get exposed to radioactive waste, which keeps them resistant to Earth bacteria. Their three leaders lead them to several substantial victories-yes, the Aliens often win. In the second season, the series changed a lot. But I loved the cyber-punk feel, and this second season referred to the aliens as Mortaxans, not Martians. However confusing, it’s a very entertaining addition to the War of the Worlds mythology.
I love the design of jeff waynes musical adaption tripod because its simple but menacing
Cool
The musical version is by far the best, but the horn from the 2005 version still gives me shivers
I likes the tri pods from the history channel hollow ween event where they told an alternate history with war of the worlds, if you can find it it's a good watch
I like the designs from the original 1890’s books for both the Tripods and the Martians themselves. The tripods with the cones on top just look awesome yet menacing and the squid like martians are more Alien like to me. However the Tripods from the 2005 film were also awesome despite me not liking the actual Martian designs much.
I love the tripod design
I still love the old 50s one most.. the awesome sound effects.. and miniatures.. even the over-the-top old school acting lol
I like Jeff Wayne's representation of the tripods
i like when they stay faithful to the source material.
My favourite tripod design was the one used for Jeff Wayne's musical version of the story, which were also used in the 1998 pc game
It's face is a Simon toy at 1:45 😂
A lot of people don't realize that the origin story of the animated series "Justice League" is another adaptation of the War of the Worlds.

you also forgot to mention that in the 2005 readaption of the film was that the martians where actually very curious creatures which goes to show when they decide to leave the comfort of thier ship to explore the human basement and observe artifacts like pictures, photos and a bike.
I loved the design of the 2005 tripods, so cool looking
I very like 3:05 this tripod design of 2005 movie, I think this new design of tripod, fighting machine is very perfect and special, so this tripod is my favorite.
The 50's George Pal movie were iconic in my view, as well as WoTW (TV) Season 1.
I liked the pendragon (timmothy hines) version when other people don't
I often forget how scary and effective this movie was...in conveying an unstoppable invasion by an all-powerful force.
Fav Design has to be the Jeff Waynes Musical Tripod and as for the design of the Martians it has to be the classic 50s movie look :D
my fav modle was the 2005 tom cruise war of the worlds becuse their is soo mutch to see BUT what about the inside the tripod?plesas tell me!!!
The aliens and their technology of war of the worlds are very inspiring. There was a tv series called the tripods that was an adaption of the book that had the aliens quite different but no less frightening.
