OLD Leather Smith here, very nice job, I have some suggestions, on glue U don't say what U use Contact cement is best, I use WELL-WOOD available at hardware and big box stores. Still having trouble use 2 coats let first get tacky and add another coat and either roll with a roller or a plastic Hammer.
Personally I don't like paint I use dye, if you would use a product like Fieblings RISOLINE YOU WOULD HAVE NO TROUBLE WITH WATER OR SWEAT protection on both sides of project. Sorry 4 being so loooong.

Thanks for your comment. Here I use Barge. Weldwood is great too. I like mixing the paints with water to create more of a stain effect. But I've also used several pro dyes to create dramatic sunsets. Glad you stopped by!
