How to make a leather feather

  • I was asked a couple of times to make an instructional video about how I create my leather feathers that decorate an item without being glued or stitched on. I was hesitating a long time, but with the sweet pressure of a friend of mine I finally made my first ever instructional video, which I hope can be of a little help for those who want to get their hand on such a project ;)

    Amazing what can be done with Leather. I'm going to attempt to make some Hair Barrettes for My Niece's.
    Something that will be created with My Own Hands.
    I've always thought it means more when you make something for Family, because Anyone can Buy a gift. Thank You SO Very Much for Your Time and Tutorial Video!! What a Beautiful Blessing this is!! 😊❤️

      I'm new to leather working. I found your demo while studying video, would like to try to make some leather feather/earrings. I will try to make what you have done and cut it out for earrings. What would you suggest as a finishing application to the leather as a protectant? I may try to paint and/or stain, but what would my final coat application be? Thank you in advance if you decide to answer this. K

    Great work. I would love to try this but have a couple of questions. Where do you get this sheep leather - am in southern Ontario and can't find. Also, bag kote specs say it leaves leather soft yet you use it to harden feather. Thanks for any advice you could offer. Again; great work.

      Hi Bobby, Bag Kote was used prior to forming, in order to keep the created shape :-)

    Very nice , I would like to try this . what kind of bag-kote is it you are using Gina ? and it hardens the leather ?

    • @ginacute1
      @ginacute1  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you, viper sniper :-) I'm using Fiebing's bag kote and yes, it hardens the leather and helps keeping the shape of the feather. Some people also use Fiebing's Tan Kote but I've experienced Bag Kote to be the best for such projects :-)
